I want to start out with thanking Manscaped for sending me a replacement foil head attachment. Manscaped does a really good job with marketing and advertising and personally I like the scent of their products. As far as reviewing the lawnmower 5.0 as a body hair trimmer that is safe for scrotum and groin, this trimmer is good but could be better. The 1 hour run time is nice, but compared to say the Beardscape V2 with a 3 hour runtime and a little more control features and the power to clear more hair in less time and effort, it doesn’t sound as great. The blades and trimmer clean easily enough under hand soap and tap water. With skin and hair clean and dry (do not attempt to trim wet body hair on the scrotum), the trimmer performs adequately to shorten hairs when used properly with the flat edge flush to the skin. The foil head attachment differentiates the 5.0 from the 4.0 and is where this review can get a bit critical. You have to make sure you carefully and gently are removing and installing the heads when swapping as the foil head attachment is prone to breaking. This is not a hefty or sturdy feeling trimmer. Ensure the hair has already been trimmed, cleaned and dry before continuing to use the foil head to shave closer. The foil trimmer is a potential bacteria risk so you must ensure proper cleaning after each use with likely canned air, shower head on blast, and soak in rubbing alcohol diluted in water. I appreciate the attempt of an electric trimmer with a close shave attachment for a closer shave on the balls and I believe the lawnmower 6.0 will be designed to do this even better. I mentioned the beardscape V2 a couple times and I do believe compared to the lawnmower 4.0 its a superior electric body hair trimmer, however it does not attempt to be an electric shaver. The only electric body hair trimmer that does attempt to shave the scrotum that I have used is the Philips Norelco Bodygroom 7000 and that trimmer feels about as flimsy and low powered as it can get. Still, I would actually recommend the Manscaped Beard Hedger for a multipurpose trimmer over the lawnmower series and the crop shaver or the plow 2.0 for shaving the scrotum (I have safely used the plow 1.0 for years for this exact purpose with no issues, Manscaped just will not recommend this usage as its a potential liability).

The battery life on it is awesome, it has two heads for different densities of hair. I am super impressed by this, and if you’re thinking of getting one, do it. Do it now. Night and day difference from a set of clippers that is promoted heavily on Amazon. I purchased another brand 2 months ago only to have the battery quit charging after the second charging cycle. Beyond the charging issues the other brand also gave me a pretty deep nic in a sensitive area I deeply regret trying to save a few bucks. After confirming the batteries were toast I went straight to this one and the difference is significant. No cuts no nics the battery lasted long enough to shave EVERYTHING. Spend the extra money for something that will last longer than 2 charging cycles and won't mangle your body.

Love it. Does exactly what is says it does. It came with the razor attachment, 3 different trim attachment of different lengths, the foil attachment, carrying case, and charger. I also ordered the shaving gel, but did not care for it. The gel had the consistency of Vaseline and just seemed to thick and sticky. I recently grabbed some Sasquatch shaving butter which helped with a smoother finish and softer skin. Pay attention to the tutorial for removing and installing the attachments. I broke the tab on the foil attachment that keeps it secure. It still works but can fall off if not careful. The shaver itself is solid and easy to clean.

The media could not be loaded. I bought this 9 months ago (November 2024), and it died last month. It lasted about 8 months. It will turn on and run for a couple seconds, then turn off and give a low battery flash. I know it was cheap, less than $100, but I expected it to run for at least a year. I’ve seen really cheap $20-$40 trimmers from the local pharmacy aisle run for years. So I cannot recommend it. It has a steel razor with an oscillating plastic piece (the part that is driven by the motor). I’m not sure why they both aren’t steel, maybe it’s a cost thing. It will pinch/catch facial hair when trimming, I’ve noticed that every time I’ve used it on my face. I will admit that it doesn’t seem to catch or cut skin on non-face areas of the body, which is nice and rare (and perhaps why it has the plastic piece), but the fact that it died so fast makes it not worth it. I really did like it for that kind of grooming, but I’d rather pay a couple hundred dollars for a good electric razor or trimmer that lasts for many years. I just can’t recommend given it’s lifespan and poor facial trimming quality. I gave it two stars because it worked well enough for what I needed, and I feel one star is too low, but it was a close call. If you get a unit that doesn’t die, it’s probably a 3 or 4.
