This is an excellent body groomer. The shaver head is flexible and cuts nice and close, while the trimmer head works well and has 8 settings for guard. I use the timer on my beard without any issues. The trimmer without the guard can be used but only with great care - it will shred your skin if you have the angle wrong and is deadly on rounded parts with soft skin (I use the shaver end on those bits). My only issue is the placement of the power buttons. It is easy to turn it off accidentally during use, or even press the button for the other end which cancels out the end you're using. After a while, you just figure out how to hold it so this happens less often. ... show more

    • A bit bulky and a little unreliable in water
I got this because I tried the lawn mower 4.0 and that left me bleeding everywhere. I’ve always shaved and I like to keep myself smooth so I needed a trimmer that could offer a closeness comparable to shaving without getting cut by the clippers all the time. This was better than the lawn mower but took a while to clear the hairs and still cut me a few times. The foil shaver also shut off once while it was under direct spray of my shower head then took a couple tries to turn back on. It didn’t make me too confident in its “water proof” rating. The trimmer is also really big which is partially expected since it’s a 2-in-1 package but it was ridiculously bulky. There are also a pair of little metal pins which stick out right in the middle of the handle. They’re used to charge the trimmer while it’s in the dock but they make it feel a bit weird in your hand. ... show more

    • A "Trusty Steed" Groomer/Trimmer

So, the previous generation of this trimmer lasted me for a long time (4 years) and proved to be a worthy tool. I used it very heavily to stay groomed and it never failed, until the last few weeks! This newly designed Trimmer/Groomer carries over the Lithium Max Battery tech that I have come to expect from ManGroomer. This newly redesigned model is a bit more substantial in one's hand and the buttons for each trimmer end feel more refined, more premium. The adjustable end of the trimmer has plenty of range for really all types of hair lengths you'd have on your body. I find the other end with it's close-cuttimg foil is great for edging sideburns however, it is 99% of the time used to keep my chest and stomach hair whacked down. And it does a great job giving a nice finish that is electric razor smooth, which is different than regular razor smooth (which is usually irritating for me for the first day or so, serious groomers will know what I mean), which is great for speedy trimmings with a great smooth feeling aftwards, without the "tickly" annoyance I get with a regular razor. I'd say this is 10 to 15% larger but it is also more robust. It feels hearty in your hand and makes you feel confident you're not going to drop it. I have used this (mostly) dry but I have had it in the shower and have had no issues. I really appreciated the extra foil they sent with this unit but even more cool was the quaint little bottle of clipper oil that it came with too (and little blade brush... keep it clear of excess hairs and lubed and it'll never let you down)! This is the main reason I attribute to my previous model lasting so long, WD-40 works wonders to keep things humming along. I very much enjoyed the little touches with this set. I have to say, I am a tad partial to the upright charging stand of the previous model (like a skyscraper, more up than out makes for more compact storage, but it still doesn't clutter my "man tools area" much more than before, still nice, even if it takes a little getting used to. Tha battery life is splendid. It said it needed to initially charge for 18 to 24 hours (or however long it took for the charge light to go from red to green) but I didn't have it charging for more than an hour before the unit went Green Light Go! My trimming (if I get behind - no pun intended) may take 20 to 30 minutes, so the claimed hour long or more run time has been plenty for me, and most likely will be for you too. Bottom line: these ManGroomer Lithium Max Plus Groomer/Trimmers have served me well for years, it has lasted longer than the lauded Philips Norelco rechargeable trimmer I had, and really with the redesign and ergonomic changes and the little things like a spare foil blade and trimmer oil, you can't go wrong with this product!!!! ... show more

Good product. One side works perfectly for grooming private area and the other as a trimmer for upper body hair. Both sides are useful and save from carrying other groomers while traveling. Glad i came across it on a deal, would buy again in future.

    • Need better engineers for these types of appliances
First, the indicator lights on the unit do not function. I can't tell if the thing is charged all the way or not. Now, for me, it is no big deal since I only use it once or twice a week. Second, as far as ergonomics is concerned, it does fit the hand very well. However, the buttons are positioned in such a manner that you end up turning it off or hitting the other button, which effectively turns off the one you are using. The engineers really did very poorly on the design. Finally, you have to be very careful taking off the trimming blade to clean it. If you pull too hard, the thing flies out of your hand or cuts your fingers. If you don't pull hard enough, it won't disengage. Perhaps the engineers could have just created an eject mechanism or included a tool with the unit so that you don't cut your fingers trying to get the blade off every time you use it. Honestly, so far, I would buy this again but it is too early to tell as I have only had it for two weeks. If anything else happens, I'll update the review. Update 08/22: Well, the unit would not recharge. I contacted Amazon to return, but it was past the 30 day return window so they had me contact the manufacturer. I sent the email today and will see how long it takes to get this resolved. Update 09/11: I received the new unit two weeks ago and it seems to be working well. Final update 03/07: Well, that was it. Six months later and the pivoting head broke. It was already on its last legs anyway, so in the garbage it went. Original purchase 06/21/21. Replacement trashed on 03/06/22. Never again will I buy this garbage. $42 thrown down the drain for less than 8 months use. ... show more
