Description

At Magneto Longboards, we think skating is awesome, we also think it should be affordable. It shouldn't cost an arm and a leg for a great Longboard setup. We're committed to releasing great quality, awesome complete boards for affordable prices. But don't be fooled by our prices...we are very serious about making the highest quality boards we can. We strive to push our materials to their maximum, with cool innovative shapes and concavities. We also take style and design very seriously. We have way more to offer than just a wooden deck with a heat transfer graphic. Our goal with every design is to push what has been done in the past with cool new ideas and treatments. While we are relatively new to the industry, we very much are looking forward to making a big splash! Magneto sets itself apart by using natural and engineered materials to construct extremely high performing decks. Check out some of the materials we use. Canadian Maple - A high density, stiff wood with excellent hardness and durability. Maple can be finished glass smooth giving it an unparalleled beauty. Bamboo - A low density, fibrous material with good strength and flexible characteristics. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth which makes it a great renewable resource for building decks. Fiberglass - A low density engineered material composed of resin and long glass fibers. Fiberglass has excellent strength and flex properties making it the perfect material for lightweight flexible decks. Carbon Fiber - A low density engineered material composed of epoxy and long strands of carbon fibers. Carbon fiber is extremely stiff due its long strands of carbon. Because it is extremely stiff and light weight, it is the perfect material for fast stable downhill decks. Longboarding is much more than simply getting from point A to point B. Influenced by surfers in the 1960's, early long boarders saw this form of skating to express themselves. With self-expression comes style and aesthetics which we at Magneto take very seriously. We use several finishing techniques that offer bold and fresh looks to our boards. From laser etched bamboo to carbon fiber weaves we strive to make a statement with everything we do. Each board has an aesthetic that matches the function of the board. The Bamboo & Fiberglass Drop has a clean and fresh look with laser etched graphics on top of a beautiful varnished bamboo and a clear epoxy sanded top. • Finally found a board I like!
Color: Bamboo
I have owned a half dozen longboards used to commute to school and work by board. I once worked for a skateshop and have tried many longboards. The Sector 9 Cosmic boards (flexy, fiberglass boards) have been my ride of choice for 15 years or so... until now. The Magneto is now my ride! I bought my son the 38.5" "carving" Magneto board. I tried it out and enjoyed it so much I bought the 42". While I like the 38.5", I'd instead recommend the 42" because it is just as maneuverable, has small kick-tails, and has a better overall feel. I'm a pretty big guy, my son is about 90 lbs, and my daughter is about 60 lbs. We all can ride the 38.5" or 42". Pros: - Great for carving! - Smooth ride. The flex in the fiberglass really reduces road vibration! - Stable. The lower center of gravity and the firm/slightly flexy surface makes for a secure feeling surface at high speeds. - Can handle tight turns (if you have the balance) - Nice look and hand-feel of the sanded grip. It also doesn't scrape up your clothes so much while carrying the board. I was not sure how I felt about not having grip tape... now I really like it! - Wheels, trucks, and bearings seem great to me. I'm not going to bother replacing them as the gains would only be minor if any. - Strong. I can jump on the board without feeling like it'll break. - The price is really reasonable for a premium quality board Cons - I would like a longer kicktail. I use the kicktail on tight turns or while turning while going slow. - It seems to get dings in it easier than my son's cheaper hardwood board. That said, I know they are all going to get beat up with use! ... show more

  • Great board for cruising; lightweight, strong, stable (UPDATE)
Color: Bamboo
Update (5/21/17) After a month of using this board, I really feel like it's the best cruising board I have. It's really stable and it grabs my feet well. I can go over some pretty big cracks and bumps without it suddenly changing direction (which is really important because I ride with my right foot towards the back) The stock wheels and bearing are still smooth. Occasionally, I have to tighten the truck mounting screws. Magneto Bamboo Longboard (not the carbon one) This is a great board for cruising around trails and exploring the town. It's rock solid, not too bouncy, and very very stable while providing a decently tight turn radius. It gives a bit if you bounce one it - but my 180lbs doesn't bend it more than an inch. It feels nearly unbreakable. I don't think I'll be replacing the trucks/wheels with anything, the stock ones are very very nice. I'm impressed at the quality of this board -- it's beautiful to look at and it rides like a cloud. If I turn the board hard, the turning radius doesn't allow me to completely do a u-turn on my residential USA street...It's close, but I always end up in the shoulder and in the grass. ... show more

  • Serious quality and value for any level rider
Color: Bamboo
I bought this board for my daughter, who is an intermediate longboarder. I was very surprised to find this board (Bamboo Drop & Fiberglass Through Longboard) set up very well right out of the box. I had my tools ready to go, but found no need! My daughter was impressed- loves the look and absolutely loves the ride. She uses her boards mostly for cruising; occasional tricks/freestyle coming in second, drifting a distant 3rd. The stock wheels are a bit soft for drifting but great otherwise. This is a lightweight board for its size and class. It has a very nice and low center of gravity and riders don't have to worry about wheel bite with this board design. The flex of the deck is fantastic, offering great feel while still smoothing out the ride on typical pavement and sidewalks. I highly recommend this board for beginners through advanced riders. More advanced riders may have a preference for specific wheels/bearings, but even so, the deck and trucks are well worth the price. Keep it stock or upgrade to your heart's content- this is a great longboard! ... show more

  • Great Board
Color: Bamboo
Old fat guy getting back into a boarding after 40 years. Just looking to cruise, and have a fun alternative form of transport. This is a great package, and I think worth a lot more than I paid. Love the flex of the board, the trucks are very good, bearings are great - they're fast but that balances out the higher rolling resistance of the soft wheels. For my 280# though, the wheels were a little too soft and showed a fair amount of wear with just a modest amount of cruising. Don't let the lack of grip tape put you off. The "grit" they have on this board is every bit as good as grip tape. Not lack of confidence in the footing on this board, but time will have to tell the tale of how durable this material/method is. But those soft wheels, long, flexy board, it's a cadillac smooth ride, shaka! ... show more

  • Solid for the price
Color: Bamboo
I have had this board for almost half a year now and I have to say that it holds up really well with everything you throw at it! PROS Cruises very smoothly and requires less effort for a longer ride per push compared to other boards I've rode. Stock turning capability is perfect for beginners and advanced riders. Easily take sharp turns and sliding. More professional riders would have to tune the board to their liking (which they should know how to do). The grip is no joke, no catastrophes or mistakes were made because of the grip. Could get tricky if the deck is very very wet though. CONS If you use it often there might be a inconvenience that may occur. After 5 months of moderate to heavy use I noticed a rattle coming from the wheels I think. I have yet to know if this is an easy fix or not because I'm not sure how to tinker with boards quite yet. All in all, solid board for the price. It would be nearly perfect if the price was cut by 10 or 15 bucks, but still, a very good board to put on your list and compare to others. ... show more

  • Read the discription before you buy. Super fun board
Color: Bamboo
Ok yes right off the bat you can see i changed parts on it. But as for the deck its self i love it. If your a beginner i have 1 thing to say it is a super easy board to ride and if you mess with it wrong its super easy to break. This is not a jumping trick board. Not a manual board, not a 180 revert board. This is a carve cruise and dance board. That being said it is a wonderful board if you put the money into it. Very minimum change the bearings and bushings if you are light i recommend double cones. It allows for movement, less rebound, more turnability. If you jump on it never jump with your feet close to the trucks cause all your weight is being put on the wood and bolts not the base plate. It is not a grip tape its an adhesive sand adhesive coat it will rub away after a while but it isnt bad ive been riding mine for a little over 2 years now. Ive had 5 people try to buy mine off of me for $300+. Make sure if you buy it put a little extra money into it and remember what i wrote about it. All in all super fun board. Id also recommend putting anti sink plates on the bottom bolts care the washers sink a lot. ... show more

  • Beautiful looking board and great value for a casual rider
Color: Bamboo
After my trusty Sector 9 that I used for about 10 years was stolen I had to look for a replacement but I didn’t want to pay 200-300 for another sector 9 even though it was a great board. The first magneto board I received was defective. Very squeaky and even one layer started cracking all art on the first day of light riding. The customer support team was awesome and quickly let me return for a refund. When the board was back in stock again I ordered again and was very happy with the board. It looks amazing. Probably the coolest looking long board out there. It has the right amount of flex and is just a lot of fun to ride. The wheels and bearings that come standard are just ok but no problem at all for a casual rider like me. Overall great value for the money and a very good customer support team and experience. ... show more

  • You can see and feel the care they put into making this board
Color: Bamboo
This is the first time I am trying a bamboo drop-through, and I must say I am thoroughly impressed by what Magneto put together. The sleek look is not the only thing. The hardware right out of the box feels sturdy with high quality components without any inkling of cheapness found from one end of the board to the other. After a minimal amount of tightening of the wheels and baseplate, I took it out for a test spin. Maybe I'm just used to stiff boards, but the first thing I noticed was the generous amount of flex the board allows as well as the buttery smooth handling of the trucks - giving a very comfortable and responsive ride. I think I'm in love. I can't stop smiling when cruising and carving on this thing. Looking forward to many more miles with it. ... show more
