Top Amazon Reviews

  • Bringing two communities together (again)
If you're looking to make money off of this, then just choose another game to scalp. A lot of people reviewing this state "no money value". This is Magic: the Gathering, value dips are expected day one due to hype and early breaks showing cards. Is it worth the price (depending when you buy it)? If you're new to the game then yes, you will get cards that will help insert you in to the current power level of game play. Bringing another community to MTG is tough, but it can be done as Universe Beyond: Lord of the Rings showed what could happen even after 1/1 "The One Ring" was found. If you're a Final Fantasy fan or are familiar with the games, you will find that the cards resemble the Final Fantasy lore fairly closely, much like LotR. It's a great way to combine the two fan base and TCG gaming formats. Opening around 6 total cases (36 boxes) between LGS and Amazon, here's the break down by averages rounded down. Base cards 31 rares and 4 mythics - 3 pose cards of any rarity, 3 Ext Art/showcase, 3 ext art lands. Foils of base were less than 1 mythic and 2 rares per box. Through the Ages were 1 mythic, 3 rares, 6 uncommons (could be foil). Art cards averaged 13 per box with 17 tokens as well. Quality was good as there were a handful of cards from the same box that had slight differences in shading, especially on the white coloring on Enchantment Creature cards. Edges were good but there were tokens that were dinged on a corner but the rest of the pack was good. No ink bleeding, no mis-cut cards, no crimpling of the foil finishes. If you're looking to the best possible "value for your money" and are new to the game, it could be worth it to buy a commander deck (if this is your style of play) as most of them have a good number of valuable reprints (both monetarily and playability). If you are looking for surge foil cards, commander card inserts, or the multiple chase chocobo cards, this product does NOT have it in it. Wrapping on the boxes were loose and some even had bunching up after heat sealing. Individual pack packaging was good. They look like the crimping could be questionable but most of the packs that looked this way yielded good cards. I will always recommend to buy singles if you're been in the game for a while. If you're new to the game, this is a higher priced set than most, even "remastered" or "commander set" boxes, if not about the same. As a Final Fantasy fan I'd say dive in if you're interested in life after the Final Fantasy TCG, different style and rules but resemble one another. The artwork alone would make it worth it in my opinion. As usual, buy singles or trade first, get what you want for the money as Universe Beyond MTG sets are a bit pricey sealed product wise. Have fun and good luck! ... show more

  • love this set
This is a typical set of magic cards, if there are cards you want then buy them, dont expect to make more than the box is worth. This product is more for people who enjoy the art and the characters they represent. I havent played in probably 15 years and only started collecting for my love of final fantasy. I got so excited to see cecil and kain. My box had sepheroth, buster sword and traveling chocobo. Not a bad box, but again i was more excited to see tidus and cecil and kain, even berret. Realy wish i would of pulled a cloud. If you love final fantasy and just want to collect get the box, if your looking for specific characters get the pre cons. ... show more

  • Sealed box. Got a good number of cards I wanted. Don't expect value of individual cards.
The box was properly sealed. I was able to get a better than MSRP price on pre-order. I bought this to crack packs with family and play with. This is the best selling set released which will make the values of individual cards drop drastically. This is also a standard set so they will be re-printed. I suggest waiting for a sale, never pay over MSRP for these boxes. Nothing that can come out of this box will likely hold any value since there will be widespread availability. The collector packs contain cards that can maintain value since there is only one print run, so if you are hoping for value, look elsewhere. The prices of individual cards is great for the game, as players can buy singles at reasonable prices to actually play the game. This style box is not for collectors or speculators. Perhaps 10 years from now individual cards may go up but play with the cards, enjoy them as they were meant to be used. Also, if you want a specific card, buy singles instead of gambling on packs. ... show more

  • Amazing and fun if you live FF
As a fan of Final Fantasy since the first this was a must have for me. It's great to see all my favorite characters in a game together, and while I don't play a ton of magic, the cards themselves will remain in my collection. When I found out they had the summons from X inside I lost my mind. A foil, sometimes a second in every pack, after 60 packs, I only had one duplicate. Not a huge reseller market atm but most limited releases eventually become valuable. Magic hasn't stated if they are releasing more. Beautiful art, awesome characters, and im a personal sucker for 1, 7, 10, 14 and 15 foils!! Personally love em and would be loathe to sell my foils! ... show more

  • 10/10 would again if I had the money (ps. screw scalpers)
Went 50/50 with a friend. Even with that I pulled some amazing cards. Got a signed artwork, tons of full art cards, vivi and tifa (full art and foil). Was worth it I think buying a box once is worth the investment. After that, buy singles to fill in the holes for what you want. Saves money in the long run. The FF set is by far my favorite and most chaotic time in a long time. (ps. screw scalpers) ... show more

  • Greatest purchase of my life!!!
I bought 3 but I don’t play and would’ve rather bought more Legos instead. I’ll keep them away cause I don’t even play! I just met a scalper and he said I shouldn’t buy any cause it’s a scam but I love scams. So I bought 3 to look at. Oh Did you know Allodoxaphobia is the fear of other people's opinions. It's a rare social phobia characterized by an irrational and overwhelming fear of what other people think. That’s crazy!!! ... show more

  • Resealed packs
Every single one of these packs has a slit at the top and bottom. No way these weren't resealed.

  • It's a game, not an investment purchase...
Leaving a lower review due to the value of cards for resale is stupid. They're going to reprint the set so its expected to have the values drop before stabilizing. If you like Magic and FF you'll have fun opening these there are enough interesting variants to make it fun even without the crazy stuff from the collector packs. Maybe wait a bit though, the prices are stupid inflated right now. ... show more
