Game changer!

The only down side I find to this suit is that its dangerous to use when baby rolls over so upgrading to the sleep sack from this brand is necessary for safety reasons. This has been an absolute game changer for us. We plan on sleep training when baby is older but for now, this has allowed us to get baby to sleep for very long stretches. In fact, I still use it during one daytime nap when I can supervisor her to ensure she doesn’t roll over, its that good that I’m trying to squeeze as much use out of it as I can. Quality is great, we’ve been using it for two - almost three - months and it has held up perfectly to several washes. It still looks brand new so I’ll be passing along the two that we have to my sister once she has her baby in a few months. Its comfortable, soft, and light. Mini Marshmallow suit LOVE

This super cozy little thing is awesome and baby absolutely loves it a week in. Switched our baby from the Lovetodream swaddle to this, idea of a smooth transition to the sleep blankets. This is an “in between” option. Baby doesn’t only look like a cuddly marshmallow but baby sleeping well in it so far and perfect warmth at night. Okay! So to start, I had a preemie baby that was in the NICU before coming home. He was VERY picky & particular about sleeping. He hated being cold & loved feeling snuggled up in warm blankets. At the same time, he absolutely hated being swaddled and having his arms held down. My husband and I struggled with both knocking him out AND making sure he stayed out. He would sleep the longest periods of time (about 3-4 hours in between) held by one of us. We were at the point of sleeping in shifts because if we were both awake at the same time, nobody was getting any sort of sleep. Short of simply putting him in bed with us, we were kind of at a loss. (Nothing wrong with people that safely cosleep, but this little guy is bottle fed & we already went down that path with our first & didn’t want to repeat it a second time) Enter Magic Merlin’s sleep sack. I had heard about the “magic” and seen photos of friends baby’s wearing the puffy marshmallow suit, but I honestly always thought it was just massively hyped up. (In retrospect, I’m a moron & maybe if I’d tried it with my first he wouldn’t have migrated into my bed) Does it work for every baby? Not sure. Did it work for MY baby? HELL YES. MY GOD THIS SUIT KNOCKS THIS CHILD OUT FLAT ON HIS DIAPER BOOTY IN WHAT FEELS LIKE A MILLISECOND. INSTANT 5-6 HOUR STRETCH OF SLEEP FOR A 3 MONTH OLD (if you’re a parent ((you must be if you’re reading this)), you know any sort of sleep is the most precious thing ((I mean besides our sweet little poop machines that don’t let us sleep)) ) This thing is great. No, seriously. I let him show signs of being sleepy (simple yawning/rubbing face) and I change his diaper, slip him in the sack & lay him down in the bassinet. 9/10 I can walk away and he’s already falling asleep on his own. During winter my bedroom is around 64-70 and he’s always perfectly snug, not too hot and not too cold. We sleep him in a onesie, footie pjs and socks. Is it perfect? No, but you gotta take a hit here & there. It’s pretty thick and does take a bit to dry when you wash it. The best thing here is to have 2, if possible. Another thing to note is I feel the suit does run a little small. I have the 3-6 months size but my child is 3 months & it’s pretty tight on him (he’s about 14-15 lbs). I definitely do not see this fitting him a month from now. While the double zipper in the front is very welcome for nightly diaper changes, I do still have to pull his leg up and out of the pant leg and this usually wakes him up if he’s drowsy or sleeping—as a result, I’ve begun to do diaper changes before sleepy feeds to avoid waking him up unnecessarily. My sons head is a little flat from sleeping on his back, so we’re encouraging tummy time during the day whenever possible. He isn’t yet rolling over, but I believe the suit must get taken away once they are rolling over or attempting to while wearing it (?) I also do not put the suit on unless I think he’ll want to nap longer than an hour or it’s time for bed at night. I do not want to restrict his movement throughout the day so I let him do his thing then. So far, this suit has been an absolute lifesaver. I think if used as intended, chances are you and your child will have a great time. It has helped my little one sleep longer stretches & be comfortable & warm. I’m not certain what to expect during the summer but I will probably sleep him in a onesie and diaper with the suit over. I honestly can't recommend this product enough

HOW DID WE LIVE WITHOUT THIS?!?!? I honestly can't recommend this product enough. Of course, as a new mom, there is a story behind this... Our daughter was about three and a half months when we bought this for her. She is quite a big baby, but was still sleeping in the rock and play while swaddled. I knew I had a fairly uphill battle, getting her to sleep flat on her back and get out of the swaddle. I did some research online and this came up as a swaddle transition product, but I also saw that people recommended it for transitioning to a crib from a rocker. I thought it was worth a shot, and the reviews seemed promising. However, I'm fairly slow to 'drink the juice', so I bought this with some reservation. It is additionally worth noting that I used to nurse my daughter to sleep (I know..) every night, which took up at least 30 minutes of me sitting in complete darkness with a little baby slowly passing out with my nipple in her mouth. Once I thought she was asleep, I would slowly remove it and gently put her into the rocker, hoping and praying that she would stay asleep. I would do that crazy walk out of the room that looks like I'm in Mission Impossible, stepping around the floor to avoid the places I know creak or groan. Then, I would go out to the kitchen and stare at the monitor for another half hour to make sure she was going to stay asleep before I could actually relax. The day this product arrived, I washed it (it doesn't take long in our dryer - half the cycle one way, then inverted for the second - no problem) and my husband and I decided to test it out. I nursed her, we changed her diaper, and we went for it - put her to sleep (flat on her back) in the pack and play, no swaddle (obviously), and awake and THE CHILD FELL ASLEEP ON HER OWN. And we aren't talking about a long time here, folks. By the time we got to the monitor, she was already looking drowsy. Within five minutes, she was out cold and slept for six hours. It was such a liberating feeling for me to see her fall asleep on her own, not needing to chew on my nipple to make it happen. I couldn't believe that we made such big changes with so little effort - no rocker, no swaddle, no nursing to sleep - IN ONE NIGHT with such great results. It has been about six weeks since we've had this product, and it continues to impress us. Every time she goes to sleep, she is awake and is able to fall asleep on her own. It has totally changed how we approach life. My husband and I are able to go out for dates or let other people watch her because anyone can put her to sleep now. It has also helped her sleep for longer stretches of time, and makes nap time much easier. It has had the secondary benefit of helping her be a happier baby, I think because she is sleeping so well and has established her own routine. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone hoping to transition a baby out of a swaddle or into a crib. I hope it works as well for others as it has for us. ... show more

I’ve been desperate to find something that works for my baby. As soon as I bought the magic sleepsuit my baby has been sleeping more. I would definitely purchase again once he grows out of it. Fits great and it’s super comfy like a pillow.

Great for transitioning out of the swaddle

First of all, every baby is different, so this may not work for everyone. I am giving it 4 stars only because of the incredible shrink factor. It is 100% cotton and will shrink badly if placed in the dryer, even on the lowest setting. I learned that the hard way with the first one. I had to purchase a second one because line drying this little sucker takes TIME - and I live in a very dry climate. I can't imagine how long it would take to dry if I lived somewhere humid. I find I wash the suit daily when my daughter is on the cusp of a new diaper size. Now onto the good stuff: this was recommended by our pediatrician because my daughter likes to be swaddled, but she doesn't, if that makes any sense. She is happiest with her hands close to her face and I couldn't get a good swaddle with her hands near her face without her breaking out (and then waking up crying). We tried putting her down in a sleep sack with arms out and also in just a sleeper and the arms are an issue for her. This was recommended as a transition out of the swaddle. I watched lots of online videos, read lots of reviews, and finally decided to spring for it, even with the hefty price tag. She immediately slept comfortably as if she was swaddled and the best part is, it's not so restrictive that she can't get her hands to her face. It muffles jerky movements from sleep starts that wake most babies. Using the sleepsuit has also reduced the use of a pacifier, since she can self-soothe with her hands. For my baby, this is a total win. We started using it when she was about 4 months old. She is now 5 months and I will most likely be purchasing the 6-9 month version because she doesn't show any signs of rolling over any time soon; when she does, we will have to stop using it all together. I am concerned about the next step after this and transitioning her out of the suit, especially since my mom, who takes care of her during the week, says she won't nap without a swaddle (or this suit at home). But for now, it's been a great way to transition her. One more thing I like about this suit: it is pretty low cut in the front and doesn't cover her face at all. That was another concern I had about the swaddle. I woke her in the morning a couple of times to see the swaddle covering her mouth. I usually dress her in something when she's in the suit because her chest would be partially exposed if I didn't. For warmer days, I dress her in a short sleeved onesie and socks and for nights I dress her in a cotton sleeper. Her room gets pretty cold when the temperature really dips and on those occasions I will dress her in a fleece sleeper. This seems to keep her plenty warm and I can't imagine needing the fleece suit. ... show more

Sleep deprived to sleeping through!

My six month old started having trouble with both naps and overnight sleep out of nowhere. We had already transitioned from the swaddle to the Love to Dream Sleepsack. Teething, growth spurt, leap, separation anxiety…God knows. We love a good contact nap and I am okay with occasional co-sleeping, but I’m also a working mom so something had to give. And I wanted my sweet girl to get the sleep she needs. The price tag on these was a little alarming, but as others have said in their reviews, you can’t put a price tag on your sanity. I tried it during nap time first to see if one nap a day could be in the crib. I kept our same calming routine: nursery, book, sound machine, snuggle and rocking. Um, magic. I was able to put her down awake and she fell asleep on her own! I think the way the fabric envelops her body and keeps her just the right amount of warm and held is the ticket. She slept 1.5hrs without waking up enough to need soothing. I was concerned at first about the thickness, but the cotton and breathable inner layer aren’t that hot on my girl. Like practically all babies I know, she hates being cold and loves her snuggles. I think this is helping her stay cozy without overheating. I do run the ceiling fan and a tower fan constantly in her room to keep it cool. So I tried it again that same night. Magic again! She slept overnight, again stirring a couple times but easily able to get back to sleep. This mama is rested and happy now that her baby can sleep! Baby girl has met the rolling over milestone, but has not tried to roll in her sleep, even in the other sleep sack. We’ll be using this one until she tries to roll over on her belly while wearing it. She’s petite, in the 30th percentile for weight, but 67th for length so the 6-9 month suit fits her perfectly. Her feet stick out so I put socks on them for comfort. Bonus, they look absolutely adorable in these things. I got the sleep deprived giggles the first time I put her in it! ... show more
