  • INITIAL IMPRESSIONS VERY GOOD
Size: 10.5 Color: Tan
Initial impressions, will update after a few months of hard use. PRO - True to-size for length, about average “medium” width. Build quality appears excellent and YKK side zipper is a huge convenience. Tan color is great, and suede portions are dyed exactly same color as synthetic web portion. For an 8” boot, these are nice and light weight. Very comfortable and supportive right out of the box. CON - At the back of the heel, there’s a loop to help pull the boots on. It’s strong enough, but if you have thick fingers, the loop is very small. Made in China, so no idea how well these will hold up. ... show more

  • Love these for the price.
Size: 10 Wide Color: Coyote Brown, Zipper
I've been using a pair of name-brand boots very similar to these (only much more expensive) for more than a year. That name brand started coming apart at a seam, so I tried these. Very similar product of the same or better quality. I really like being able to slip them on, zip them up, and get going. Very supportive. These are not finished leather, so they do allow water to soak in as I would expect, but over all not affected by dew or mud. Very comfortable, stable, and durable with good traction. ... show more

  • 5+ Years Reliable
Size: 12 Color: Tan
I bought this same pair of boots 5 years ago and used them for camping, hiking, yard work, landscaping, garage work, metal work and moving. I used them only for my dirty and rough jobs to take the beating I didn’t want my nice shoes to take and they’ve held up all this time. They’re still usable, but I figured it’s probably time to retire the old ones so I bought the same pair again. They were water resistant, but if you’re kicking through a lot of dew-covered grass and they get soaked, the water will get through. So not waterproof. I only had a couple issues with them over the lifespan of my old ones. First, early on some stitching came out of the front rubber of the toe, but that never affected anything and the rubber never separated so not really an issue. Second, I had to replace the shoelaces a handful of times because they snapped a few times. Probably due to the nature of the work I did with them in dirt and mud and wet environments creating more friction and rust in the grommets over time. Not a big deal to me. Laces can be replaced and the shoes didn’t fall apart. Third, if I brought the zipper down to the bottom too hard, it used to get stuck there unless I pulled really hard. But they never broke even with the force I put into them so it worked for me. Finally, the velcro wore out after about 3.5 years but still sort of works currently. Upon buying the new pair, they feel very cushy and ergonomic in the soles and upper rim. The zipper works fine all the way to the bottom and the Velcro is new so it works fine of course. Overall I would recommend these shoes. They held up pretty well and are a fair price. I even got the black leather ones for other uses some years ago, but I don’t use those as often. They hold up just as well, they just get hot in the sun as black leather does. ... show more

  • Money's Worth
Size: 10 Color: Black
After serving in the military for nearly 40 years I can tell you I've worn lots of pairs of boots and I am IMPRESSED with these. The leather these are made with seems thick and rugged. The sewing looks tight and well done. Another thing I like is the shaft of the boot with its deep padding. It's not just around the top for an inch or so. These are thickly padded for at least 2 to 2 and 1/2 inches. The area where the laces go is covered in leather. Most other brands including some of the more expensive boots are only fabric. And the loops that secure the laces are substantial with rounded edges to prevent premature wear of your laces. There is padding that extends from the shaft of the boot all the way down the outside. The soles are rugged and thick. The zipper is not a cheap one. The finger loop strap in the back is substantial and is also leather. I don't know how much support teh arch support gives, but I have a pair of orthotics that I can insert in place of the removable insole. I've had Bates, Rocky, Under Armor and Thorogood boots all which cost well north of 150.00 and these Maelstrom boots feel and look every bit as good for half the price. And they're lighter than my current pair of Rockys. Well done! I'm looking forward to getting some miles on these when we go out on patrol. I spend a lot of time on my feet and good boots are a MUST. I put my feet in them and they said "Ahhhhh". ... show more

  • Not a summer boot, too thick to breathe
Size: 9 Color: Black
I have a pair of their 200g Thinsulate winter boots, and these are the same thing without the insulation. They will probably make a good fall/spring boot for chilly but above freezing temps, but are much too warm to wear in 80F+ weather at work (which is what I bought them for). Would I buy them again, no, I'd buy another pair of the insulated ones for 3 season wear (late fall, winter, early spring). They are made well with good quality materials, their comfortable and true to size, (my winter ones have lasted 3 years and counting), but I just don't see what role these non-insulated boots play vs their insulated counterpart due to them being too warm for summer use. ... show more

  • Very good boots for the price.
I had a pair of these boots about 3 years ago in desert tan. They lasted almost 2 years and my most recent pair is in Black. The black looks nicer longer and heights scuff marks more easily than the tan. Normally when I buy a pair of boots the first thing I do is get a pair of Dr Scholl's inserts but to tell you the truth I didn't need them for these boots. These Boots are really comfortable and lightweight. They seem pretty water resistant but I wouldn't stand in a deep puddle for very long if I were you. Works great but the velcro at the top of the zipper is less than desirable quality but that doesn't bother me because because the zipper itself is really good quality. I've had my second pair for less than a month but I think I'm going to buy another set just to have and maybe use those as a nice looking pair of boots. ... show more

  • Tough, comfortable boot. Great value
Size: 10.5 Color: Tan
I put these on right out of the box. I worked outdoors in them on a hot summer day and my feet were comfortable and dry even after 10 hours. The side zippers make putting them on and off easy and quick. A great value!
