This set is absolutely stunning! Compromising on colors for our bedroom can be difficult so Inwas skeptical with this set. I thought for sure the dark navy would make my room feel like a cave but it has done exactly the opposite! I am absolutely in love with the luxurious look and rhe feel of each of the pieces that came along with the comforter. Also, the comforter is warm but cool at the same time. Im going theu perimenopause and get hot at night but the weight if this comforter allows me to be be warm without feeling smothered during my hot flashes! The set comes nicely packaged in a box + 2 bags: one containing the comforter and (rolled up inside it) the 4 shams and the bedskirt, and the other containing the 2 decorative pillows, which are vacuum-sealed. I have a very sensitive nose, and can attest that there was absolutely NO chemical smell at all out of the box/bag. The comforter itself is beautiful. I'm really pleased with the gold/ivory color. The gold has an almost bronzy/metallic look, which is better than expected and exactly what I was looking for. Lovely pattern, very regal-looking. The fabric is a tiny bit rough on the patterned side, but nothing that would cause it to be uncomfortable to sit on. Although this isn't the type of comforter I'd ever wrap myself up in, the underside is nice and smooth and I imagine would be very cozy and comfortable against the skin. The weight of the comforter is perfect for all-year use. The primary reason the set doesn't rate a "5" for me, though, is the odd stitching (see photo). The top is covered with strange little lines of stitching- some vertical and some horizontal- each about .5 inches or so long- placed randomly all over the comforter. I imagine this is done in order to keep the filling from shifting, but it certainly could have been done in a much more thoughtful and aesthetic manner. It's not glaringly noticable from a distance- and I suppose for the price you can't expect perfection. I do, however, own another Madison Park piece, which I purchased for around the same price point, and on which the workmanship is markedly better. Be aware that the shams are quite large (not sized to fit over standard bed pillows). I might use the patterned ones to cover a chair cushion. The fabric on the bedskirt and the solid-color shams is thin and, to me, has a very synthetic feel. I do like the included decorative pillows. All in all, I feel that for the price, it's a nice buy- especially if you can pick up one of the "used, like new" offerings. Comforter was packaged in a zippered bag (not compressed flat and shrink wrapped). That was the first thing I noticed when I opened the box. No wrinkles! I'm not kidding - not one, although it was folded to fit in the bag. The quality is what you would expect with this brand and at a reasonable price. I've seen comparable quality for over $300. I bought the silver with light gray pattern. The silver color has a slight sheen without being gaudy. The stitching is straight and subtle. I went ahead and washed the shams and pillow covers to see how they would look hold up. Machine washed on gentle cycle and machine dried on low. No problem whatsoever; they came out beautiful. Also, I put the 2 accent pillows in the dryer with them as they had been wrapped separately and were compressed flat and wrinkled. They came out beautifully fluffed up and not one wrinkle. I may find a different use for the large pillow covers. I have an accent wall painted a deep teal blue behind the bed so I'm on the hunt for matching blue accent pillows. I think that would be a nice contrast to the grays that were included with the set. Now...as an added bonus, I recycled the zippered bag it came in and used it to store my door wreath in it! ... show more

This is a medium weight comforter set. It comes with everything it states but you’ll have to buy a set of 26x26 pillows to use the shams. This is how it looks on my bed with low lighting. It’s a nice grey color. The outer pattern is raised and a little rough but the inside part is soft. I had to wash it when I got it because it had a strong chemical like smell but it went away after a wash and indoor air dry. Very nice set. ... show more
