  • Just what I was looking for!
Color: Aluminum Silver
I have been debating buying the $139 Apple wireless keyboard and Apple Magic Mouse 2 for some time now, but spending that much on a keyboard (and still needing to buy a mouse) didn't seem logical to me. I needed something that supports Mavericks as I still use that OS for my recording software (Apple's keyboard does not support Mavericks). I started researching other keyboards and was looking at the Matias for awhile (it's pretty much Matias's version of the Apple keyboard), BUT even their keyboard is the same price as Apple's (because it is backlit and allows for switching between Bluetooth devices). Moving on.... So I continued looking for something cost-effective that gets the job done. I found this keyboard and saw positive reviews so I took a swing. I really like the keyboard. I use it with my iMac and my work PC; the shortcuts to switch between the two are awesome and connect fairly quickly. PROS: The look and feel are very sharp. It doesn't look cheaply-made and is close enough to the Apple keyboard to remain comfortable for me. As for the feel, the keys are a TAD bit heavier than Apple keys. It took a minute to get used to, but now I have the same comfort level I had with my wired Apple keyboard. I've been using it for over a day and the internal battery is still going strong. The keyboard has a power switch, but will automatically sleep when it isn't used. I paired it with my iPhone for fun and there are shortcut keys for home, lock, search, brightness, and volume. It's actually pretty cool! I just wish I could use tab/page up or down to move between screens/open apps, but I didn't buy this keyboard to have full control of my iPhone so it's whatever. Overall, this is a great purchase. It's a little over 1/3 the price of the Apple keyboard and it seems like it does everything I need it to do and will last for a long time. CONS: The ONLY thing I would change about this keyboard is the FN key. There are two, which reduces the size of the CMD keys. I use these keys often so it's taking me some getting used to as I keep hitting option, but again for the $90 cost difference, I'll adapt. I did notice the charging cable appears to be proprietary so it might not be a bad idea to get a backup just in case. UPDATE: I've had the keyboard for almost a month and it's still going strong. I think the battery will need charged soon as I noticed it is sometimes delayed when awaking, but have yet to charge it and have been working 8 hours a day with it (plus home use). One VERY awesome feature of this bluetooth keyboard is it connects quick enough to execute boot options when starting up. For example, when booting my iMac and holding option the keyboard connnects automatically and doesn't miss it's queue. Even cooler, it automatically connects when you restore your computer. So even if you haven't connected it before you can still use this to boot to other/new drives to install your OS. I LOVE THIS KEYBOARD. THANKS, MACALLY! I'm so glad I didn't buy Apple's lousy $140 keyboard..... ... show more

  • Not bad for the price
Color: Aluminum Silver
The Macally Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard is a good choice. It appears sturdy and the keys are responsive. The touch and travel of the keys are similar to those on the Apple Magic Keyboard. It sits nicely on desktop or on lap. The bottom panel is made of stainless steel and provides good support for the keyboard. Macally saves a bit of money, I suppose, by making the top panel of plastic. Bluetooth seems to work well; I sit with the keyboard about one or two feet from my MacBook Pro and have never lost connection. This keyboard goes to sleep a little too frequently for my taste. Perhaps this is to conserve battery life. And speaking of which, the battery life seems good. I charged it a week ago and it's still going well. I wish there was a way to check battery level, but sadly there is not. A useful feature is that there is a caps lock light to alert you when the caps lock is on. Unlike the Apple Magic Keyboard (which has the light on the caps lock key), the light is in the upper right corner, on precisely the opposite end of the keyboard from the key. That's kind of Windows keyboard thinking. Apparently Macally is trying to bridge the Mac and Windows world with this keyboard because they include an Fn key. They make room for it by making the Mac CMD key and the Option key half-size of those on the Mac keyboard. That's kind of a downside, and personally I feel they should make a choice: is this a Mac keyboard, a Windows keyboard, or just something trying to please everyone? But overall, it's pretty good and I will keep using it on my second Mac. UPDATE 4/12/20: The internal battery seems to last about a week and a half, starting from full charge and without using the on/off switch. So if you turn the keyboard off every night, it will probably last quite a bit longer. ... show more

  • Has a delay, and slow coming out of sleep mode.
Color: Aluminum Silver
Updated After having this a while. I wish I had returned it. I thought the delay Was just when waking from sleep, but it’s with keystrokes too ans is pretty annoying. Customer service was responsive, and apparently must get this complaint because they had a prepared set of "reset" instructions to send. The keys are soft, and a nice width, comparable to the Microsoft Edge keybaord which are way more expensive, so I'm keeping it. The other feature that I'm not fond of is that you cant raise the angle at all. Usually keyboards have some kind of kickstand you can raise to fit your wrist preference but this one does not. ... show more

  • Don't waste your time or money
Color: Aluminum Silver
I hardly ever write a bad review, but here's an exception. I bought one about six months ago. Worked great for three months, then the space bar gave out. Seller sent a replacement. Now the replacement won't synch with the bluetooth to my laptop. Now the seller has gone silent and won't refund my purchase. Very disappointed. Basically a POS and boat anchor at this point. 6/11/20 I'm amending this review to give credit to the seller who refunded my purchase price. It's unfortunate that I had problems with this device. It worked well until it didn't. Twice. Ended up buying the APPL keyboard. ... show more

  • Great keyboard but there's this one thing...
Color: Space Gray
This is a great keyboard! They typing response and feel are great. There are lots of features making this an excellent value. Bluetooth pairing went smoothly on my Macbook Air M1 so I couldn't be happier in that regard. I've been using it for 4 days now without turning it off and haven't had to charge it so I will wait to see how the battery holds up. Here's what I don't get about it. This is a Mac keyboard and one of the most used keys on a Mac is the command key ⌘. Well, it is the same size as the fn and option keys and the Ctrl key is the largest. Makes me think they used the same design for the Mac as the PC and just printed new symbols on it. So, I wish the command key was bigger than the others to make it easier to use but so far, that is the only thing I can find I would change about it. ... show more
