while i have not thrown this out the window to test the strength going down the ladder, it appears to be very well made and solid construction. I hope to never have to use it, but it will sit back in the box it came in, in my bedroom, just in case.

It will do the job, hopefully I'll never need to use it. Two story house so had to have an escape plan. This ladder is less than ideal, but as I said, it will hopefully never be used.

When the massive loss of life in Bronx fire occurred on January 9, 2022, it was a wake-up call to me that I needed to take fire safety planning seriously. We live in a third-story walk-up in Brooklyn, and if the stairwell caught fire, we'd be trapped. I purchase this and placed in the children's bedroom closet, and have run fire drills with the kids. Bought for my son for safety in mind. Glad that this product is reusable compared to others that are a little cheaper but only one time use. You always need to practice for any event.

We are in an office environment and have extra wide window sills, so we bought this ladder because of it's extra long handles. Unfortunately, I believe we may have received a used ladder. The handles have deep scratches all over and the stickers that inform you of the correct directional placement were peeling up as soon as I removed this item from the box. The straps seems okay, but the metal steps seem a bit flimsy. I unhooked one set of stairs (the 3-story version had two sets of stairs grouped together with Velcro) and noticed they too had scratches on them. Also, I'm assuming in an emergency situation I would simply release the stairs from their Velcro straps and they would easily release, but after unhooking one set, I'm not convinced they wouldn't just tangle instead. The straps holding the steps together are strong (which is why I gave this 2-stars) but not rigid, hence my tangle worry. Stacking them back together after inspecting one set was a very delicate process. ... show more

Well made, appears very sturdy. I extended/ refolded without difficulty. As an ‘older’ woman surprised at how heavy it is; But it has an important function, which I hope I never have to use!
