I have not had the opportunity to road test this with flight travel yet. The handles extend to 3 different heights which seems like a silly detail but as a household of tall people I appreciate that the tallest setting is actually comfortable and useful to me. The zipper to open/close and the zipper to expand have different handles/pulls which I think is a brilliant detail. Small but important. It saves you the hassle of accidentally opening the wrong one. Minor inconvenience but it drives me nuts when I do that to myself and this is good solution (I used to tie a ribbon to the main zipper). The outer shell feels sturdy. I chose the beige color because I try to avoid black so it is easier to spot in a busy airport. It has the appearance of good quality and while not important to me it does look on trend. The 3 main bags are perfect for my purposes. I will use the smallest as my carry on where I will pack extra set of clothes and comfort items for the flight (snacks/neck pillows/inflatable foot rest/inflatable seat cushion/etc). I will pack the rest of my stuff into the medium bag which is the perfect size for me. I can easily fit 3-4 pants, 5-6 tops, underwear, 2 pairs of shoes, and toiletries and have room for a packable puffer coat and other winter accessories. I will then place that into the largest and check it in. This will give me a spare bag to come back home with. Personally, I would not factor in the 2 fabric bags into your decision making or cost value. They are fine but I am looking at them like freebies. Might come in handy but there is nothing special about them. I have a million toiletry bags and the duffel is on the small side. If you calculate the price for 3 pieces of luggage then this works out to be about $56 each which I think is a great price.
