I put this up by myself and no tools are needed. The 4x4x6 is sturdy enough for small to medium sized dogs. Because I have a escape artist cat and live in an area where there are predators I added mesh to the roof plus a tarp so the mesh doesn't scratch the nice cover and then I put the cover on. I'll add some shelf type walkways and some toys later. I'm 5'7 and the door is easy to walk through just ducking a little and I can stand up easily inside. ... show more

With a friend's help, I got two of these kennels up in a very short time. I have three dogs, two of which like to keep each other company but my third is young and annoys the other two. So, we only needed two kennels to keep our dogs outside when we run errands on nice days. I didn't want huge kennels because our patio isn't very large, but these little kennels fit the bill perfectly! I will say that all my dogs are 60lbs and under, so if you have bigger dogs they might not appreciate this size kennel because it'd be a little too small. As advertised, it is very easy to assemble and didn’t take much time. We bought it for a black cat, Puma, we rescued. We have the enclosure in a basement walk-out room that we go in and out of a lot, so to prevent Puma from escaping back outside, we can put him in the enclosure until we are done going out for the day. My husband made two shelves for Puma. The upper one houses Puma’s bed; the lower one allows Puma to jump up and down. With bungee cords and black trays we made the litterbox area cat friendly. And, added the leopard throw to give Puma more privacy. The white tape above the door is to prevent us from bumping our head when we walk through, which we did several times. Ouch! I bought this because one of my Dachshunds kept getting out of the yard, no matter how we tried to dog-proof and fortify. Even when we just left the house for an hour, we'd get a call from the neighbors telling us they had her 'AGAIN' and we'd have to cut our errand short. So, we finally decided enough was enough. We didn't want to tie her up to a stake and leave her there in the middle of the yard. We were scared she'd end up strangling herself, and that there wasn't enough shade. We also didn't want to leave her indoors because I didn't want her using the carpet as a restroom and then getting into the habit of it. A home-kennel seemed like the best option for us. I ordered this kennel because of its reviews and its price. It was very easy to assemble (the roof gave me some trouble, it would have been nice to have an extra set of hands for it), large enough to fit all three of my little doggies comfortably, heavy enough to keep them from squeezing underneath, and not too tall as to not fit under the patio cover. (I can see a very large dog getting out of this kennel, just by tipping it over. But it would have to be a very large beast of a dog.) I put a fleece dog bed down, and a dog-bowl of fresh cool water whenever we leave. The first time we ever left them all in the kennel and went out for dinner, we sat quietly, listening for the familiar ring of our cellphones telling us the neighbors had her. It never came. We went home and there they were, just as we left them. We've had it for a few months, it's wonderful, and holding up well. We can now shop comfortably, I can run errands without worrying, go on trips (we don't leave the dogs in their for days, since you never should. We ask someone to house-sit when we go away, or stop by for a few hours and let them out to play and what-not before they leave). Wowza!! What a great kennel! It was extremely easy to assemble by myself. All of the required parts were enclosed and arrived in pristine condition. Shipping was fast. So far this has worked with our two boxers. It was easy to setup and works nicely as an alternative to an indoor kennel. My only worry is that it is very light and I am worried my boxer will tip it when they figure that out. They have already figure out that they can move it across the floor. Also the locking latch could be better. My dogs have figured out that they can push the latch up to open it...It needs to have something on the latch to allow it to be secured in place. I would not use this kennel outside simply because of the inability to lock the door and because it could easily be ripped by large predators, such as bear, or people causing trouble. ... show more

Even though the directions say two people should put it together, I was able to have it built by myself in a little over one hour. I’m a 58 year old, short women, not at all an athletic construction worker. No tools were needed. All the panels fit each other nicely. It appears well built for its price.
