Description

LUBEGARD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) PROTECTANT is for use in all automatic transmissions and manuals requiring an ATF, including heavy duty transmissions, such as Allison. Use with all synthetic or mineral based DEXRON, MERCON & OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) ATF’s (except Ford Type F ATF & CVT applications). Lubegard controls heat and is especially effective in today’s hotter running front wheel drive vehicles. It contains LXE (Liquid Wax Ester) Technology and their derivatives, base oils and conventional additives. Lubegard is designed to raise the thermal and oxidative stability level of automatic transmission fluids, so when it operates at elevated temperatures, it does not thin out and pyrolize, burn or react with oxygen and form deposits. The use of LUBEGARD ATF Protectant will not cause clutch friction upset or slippage. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: For normal applications, add 1 oz. (29. 6 mL) per quart (Liter) of ATF to the total transmission capacity (including torque converter) with motor idling in park. Do not overfill.

  • This stuff works!
This stuff stopped a hard shift into reverse instantly! I added this product to my Acura RDX transmission after draining the proper amount of ATF first. Once I added the bottle I was back to the correct level of fluid in the transmission, and the hard shift into reverse has gone away and not come back. It has been about a month and over 1000 miles with no issues. Great stuff! ... show more

  • Help smooth out the transmission shifts
I'm normally not a person who uses additives but when it comes to transmissions the fluid is very important for the operation of the clutch packs and torque converter. I recently installed a torque converter in a 4L80E and threw a bottle of this in and after a thousand miles you can tell the difference. The shifts are smoother and then torque converter lockup works well that's also because of a new torque converter. Almost all of these oils are nothing but a friction modifier and it does seem to help the transmission clutch packs shift better. This transmission has about 150,000 miles on it. I tow a camper as well and other than that it seems to shift fine and smoother. If your transmission has problems like slipping or shifting issues this isn't going to fix it. If you have a working transmission this will help make it work smoother. ... show more

  • Great product!
My 2012 BMW X3 with 225k miles was having some slippage/odd shift behavior at light load after a cold start. After a drain and fill failed to improve the issue, I drained off a bit and pumped in the whole bottle of Lubegard, once again following the level check procedure. Transmission behaves noticeably better now, I imagine it helped with hardened internal seals that leaked when cold. Great product! ... show more

  • Master Technician Approves
ASE Master Certified +L1 and Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician. I am very against aftermarket additives and only use OE spec fluids, However this product saved me a good amount of headache. My personal 2001 corolla had DTC P0770 (SL solenoid malfunction). Car had 200k so I knew that the transmission might have built on varnish/debris within the transmission. Most likely TTC Solenoid had debris stuck. DTC would appear every 2-5 miles at above 50mph. After adding this additive, Vehicle no longer throws the DTC after 200 miles. Looks like it cleared the debris/varnish from the solenoid and or freed it up. Though this product saved me alot of headache from taking apart the transmission, these ATF additives may cause issues on higher mileage transmission as the worn seals may be still sealing due to the varnishing/debris masking leaks. When knocking/freeing that varnishing up, the transmission may suffer from internal and or external leaks from seals/gaskets afterwards. With that being said, I was lucky that no further damages appeared after using this product. Happy with the result as of right now. ... show more

  • Helped my Honda CR-Vs transmission
My 2011 Honda CR-V has an issue with torque converter shudder and occasionally shifts quite hard. Despite my best efforts changing the ATF every 3rd oil change (15,000 miles or so), it was getting worse with harsher than normal shifting and worse shuddering. I added 6 oz of this additive to the transmission after a fluid change and it did wonders with the shifting issues. Shifts far better now. It did help the shuddering some but it did not get rid of it, but I expected that since at this point the torque converter clutch is probably too far gone to save it. Good additive Ill be adding some every fluid change now to nurse the transmission along until I can afford to replace it. ... show more

  • Great stuff. It works
This product stopped converter chatter in my 2001 F150 immediately.

  • Seems to do the job.
Well, it seems better. I have a Mercury Milan with 180,000 miles. I did a siphon and fill at 107,000 several years ago which made my car shift like new. Now nearly 80,000 past that I recently started having shifting issues. I did another siphon and fill and it didn't make any difference. My fluid isn't great and looks fairly dirty, I probably need to do a 3rd siphon/fill. But after adding a bottle of this the sticky pump down shifting has stopped and it was banging into 2nd when idling through parking lots, that also seems to have stopped. So, whatever it does to free up sticky valve bodies. It seems to have done the trick. Going to keep an eye on it and possibly do another siphon/fill and add another bottle of lubeguard. ... show more

  • Researched, then went for it
Follow up: the issue never returned and transmission is still shifting smooth. I did follow the plan outlined in my review and added another bottle with the cycle. Also did on our 2011 civic as preventative measure. Good stuff! I have a 2016 Honda Odyssey that had, what Honda calls, a jutter. After some research, I discovered that this model requires the transmission fluid be changed every 30k miles. This vehicle has 53k miles and I'm the only owner. We had used the van to tow a pop-up camper for a few trips for a few summers, but otherwise not many miles or hard driving. I called Honda to get an idea on costs for drain and fill and it was cost prohibitive to me so I thought I would go this route first. While researching the jutter issue on forums, this product came up so I dug in to find out more. I fretted on whether this would be detrimental or if this would actually help. I am not a mechanic, but feel comfortable changing the oil, and after watching you tube videos determined this was no different than changing the oil. After draining the fluid and adding this stuff and the Honda recommended transmission fluid, I took the van out for long drive and noticed the issue was barely there afterwards. I plan on continuing with the drain and fill regimen and will do at least 2, if not 3, more times (at 500 mile intervals) to clear out the rest of the old fluid. On the 3rd cycle I'll add one more bottle of this stuff. I am pleased so far. ... show more
