  • Did the job!
Size: M12
Works good. The only thing that could use improvement is the water system so keep an eye on your level. When you get to lockdown and have to increase humidity, the water has a tendency to gravitate out of the tube. I just made sure it was full and put it higher than the incubator and it worked fine.

  • NEEDS humidity control-- Hatching Report
The incubator is easy to set up and use. However, the lack of humidity control literally makes the difference between life and death for the eggs. They will develop to a point, until they don't. The issue is not the temperature or the turning, those features work well. Next batch I will buy a hydrometer and place it inside the incubator. Then, I will have to pay attention to the measurements to adjust accordingly. This item cleans well. ---- Now, after two hatches these are the results: First hatch. 2/12. 2 were born; one of the two chicks died with a splayed egg; 3 unfertilized eggs, 7 died at different stages of incubation. Second hatch. 2/12 were born and both survived. 3 unfertilized eggs, the rest died at the 15-17 day of incubation. As I said before, the humidity cannot be adjusted resulting in chick dead. You either have to open de hatcher to relieve it from excess humidity, or add water and hope it reaches the right humidity. I have found out that reading the humidity is not enough. You need to have a mechanism for regulating it and not suffocating or killing the unborn chicks. Bottom line, I do not recommend this. ... show more

  • The chicks are growing!
Size: M12
Bought this incubator for a little side money since I have some experience with chickens and ducks. I've had the product for over two weeks now and so far 11/12 eggs have made it which is typical to lose one. The incubator seems to stay at the right temperature as to what you need. The incubator needs about a cup of water every two days. I can't wait to see my baby chicks. I will post pictures when they hatch. :) ... show more

  • Great starter incubator
Size: M12
Bought this to incubate small batches of quail eggs. My mom recommended the nurture right 360 but I didn't have the money for that one and this one went on sale. I used it for dry hatching and it worked great, did 2 batches last summer. Because of the AC I used the foam cover so the temp stayed consistent, tried it first without and it fluctuated too much. Only got about a 50% hatch rate, not sure if it was the incubator or me that I didn't get much higher. Others in my quail group that had this one said they die fast, they could be doing a humid run, not sure. ... show more

  • Worked well but injured some of my chicks legs in the rotation cycle.
Size: M12
This was my first incubator and incubation experience. I have been doing chickens for 1.5 years and have let my hens go broody and nest and gotten babies the original natural way with success but I lost my favorite rooster and in a hope to carry on his line I grabbed this little incubator to try to hatch some eggs and it did it! It was relatively simple and easy to maintain. The only reason I gave it a lower rating is that there is no way to turn the rotating device off so my brand new babies little tiny legs would get stuck in the holes and when the rotation happened their legs or feet got mangled. It happened to 2-3 of our chicks in varying degrees. A friend after the fact told me to the best way to avoid that next time is to take out the tray that rotates once they start hatching because they really need to stay in that warm environment until their feathers dry. its good for them to rest in there and dry off and recover a bit before you transfer them. But all in all....I put in 12 eggs and 8 of the 12 hatched successful and the ones with leg issues we managed to splint and save but warning on the rotating mechanism...you need that rotation but it should stop at day 21 and it doesn't which makes it dangerous for newborn chicks...also....the directions are minimal....when you take a chick out you can potentially impact other chicks working there way out so have a paper towel you got wet with hot water and quickly pull the chicken out and leave the hot wet paper towel in to help restore the humidity in the incubator. Otherwise the membrane of a an egg the chick is working hard to break out of can get too dry and rubber and the chick won't be able to break free. They say any of these things in the directions. Happy I got 8 babies out it! Will try it again but will keep the rotation tray out at day 20 or 21. Happy Hatching! :) ... show more

  • Not worth the money
Size: M12
I used this to hatch quail eggs and only 11/24 hatched. The instructions were very vague. There is no humidity gauge and the water bottle filling system does not work well. I returned this item.
