My primary purpose for getting these was my can opener. I have a really nice hand crank unit that has served me for longer than any electric unit I have ever owned, well over a decade! My only problem was that if I cut the lid completely off, it would fall into the can and be hard to remove. The alternative was to leave a tab uncut like a hinge that may or may not let me open the can. The solution was a magnet. The small neodymium magnets I had made great temporary handles, but I ended up losing many of them as I occasionally forgot to take them off the lid when I recycled the can. A larger magnet was too strong and cumbersome to use. These are the perfect size for the job! they have a nice grip on them that makes them easy to use as a handle, but they are not so strong that it is hard to remove the cut lid from the can! I really only needed one, but the price point on these is not bad, and all the extras now live on my fridge as extra strong fridge magnets. and that is the only caveat here. These are really strong magnets in a metal casing, if one is not careful, i could see a potential hazard to a polished surface. Again, overall, these are nice powerful magnets with a handy handle on them!

These have good holding power given the natural of the permanent magnets. They are compact so they do not obscure much of the object they are holding.

The magnets are about the size of a shirt button in diameter, or almost have the appearance of a smaller version of the game pieces from the board game Sorry. Even though they are small, they are very powerful and will hold something to a vertical surface through multiple sheets of thick laminated paper. I use these to keep things attached to my refrigerator and they can easily hold a calendar with no problem.
