This device has two changeable heads. One flat one and one actual hook. The flat head is placed by a nut and Allen wrench. The hook screws into the end. If you use the hook you have to be careful you will not puncture a hole in the item in the rear. It's not magnetic, so you will have to either find a way to mount it in the bed, or just keep in its carrying case in the cab. The carrying case has a carrying strap.
