My wife and I purchased this as a gift for a, soon to be, 11 year old grand daughter. The writing is small enough so that you need to have it a few inches from you face to read it, which is good. The little clear gem stones, on the border, sparkle like diamonds when you shine a direct light on them. The item I received had, inside the box, a bit of shrink wrap, to prevent it from damage in shipping. It also has a small polishing cloth in the top. To gift this you may want to remove the shrink wrap and tuck the polishing cloth underneath the display box top. Just to make it more presentable.
