We received this camera as a wedding gift and took it with us for our honeymoon. The camera settings are hard to predict per location and a lot of film has been wasted per attempted shot. We keep hoping we’ll get more fluent with it but so far no luck 😂 it is a little big and the controls are scattered all around the camera (weird lay out if you’re used to SLR or other more convenient camera layouts).

I backed this project on kickstarter when they were creating it and I am bitterly disappointed with it. First, it's a goofy design. I thought at first it would be pretty nice retro look, but when receiving it I was bitterly disappointed with the childlike mechanics. Secondly, it's awkward to use. There's no real instructions, photos so far have either come out poorly or just come out poorly. The film is expensive. It's just not a fun camera to tag around. I ended up getting another instant camera. The only positive is it comes in a bundle with multiple lenses but if you are looking for a real instant camera this isn't the way to go. I feel like I wasted money backing this project :(

I own four of these, in different flavors. I often take them to parties and pass them around along with packs of Instax film. I am super super familiar with these cameras and the film they use. My verdict: the camera is way too expensive for what it is, and the quality of the photos is generally very poor. Having said that, it is "somewhat fun" to use, assuming you can afford it. It's also "quite fun" for kids, who generally have zero experience (or expectations) around how film cameras work. The camera has no meter, and the focus system (ahem, fixed focus lens) is either in "selfie mode" or "everything else." It is nice to have a tiny mirror on the front for selfies, but given the total lack of metering, half of your images are vastly under or over exposed. It's nice that there are special modes for light-painting and double exposure, but to be honest, I would much rather have those features removed entirely in favor of ANYTHING that would help with a typical exposure. I brought these to a wedding at one point and people genuinely enjoyed shooting with them, even though the photos were really crappy, because it was a physical thing to do. But the film is expensive (you need to take each photo at least twice to get the exposure remotely right), these cameras are waaaaaay too expensive for what they are, and I've had two randomly fail on me—just refuse to shoot pictures anymore. One came DOA, it was brand new in the box and simply would not take a single picture. ??? I have had better luck finding Instax cameras as garage sales and buying the film in massive bulk, where at least the price becomes "almost reasonable." The other thing to complain about is labeling of the battery compartments. The labels showing the positive and negative terminals are nearly impossible to see in dim light, so you need a flashlight or full sun. It's just a poor design, and you DO need to change these batteries during events, because the flash and the film motor do use up juice. They also tend to jump out of their sockets, so you need to really cram them in there and close the door fast. For $109 I would expect something that has...you know...features. Not a pinhole camera with a flash.

This thing is garbage. Despite the reviews I bought it thinking everyone was too dumb to figure it out. I spent a roll of film trying to figure it out which is fine by me and the next roll of film (which is expensive, - and I didn't mind the price) but I wasted the whole second roll of film cause it got stuck in the camera and that's 20-something bucks down the drain. I don't mind trying to learn how to use it but the chance of getting a good picture is hopeless. Most of the filters require add on filters or lenses. I honestly didn't expect much from some cute hipster camera but I've gotten TWO good pictures out of 50$ worth of film. It's stupid. Just trying to look trendy. Use your iPhone instead.
