  • Works well so far!
Pattern Name: Stake Size: Small (Pack of 1)
I purchased the "small" size of this product and it has worked well so far. I have been using it every morning for the last 2 weeks. My dog is about 20 pounds and not very aggressive so I don't know how well this product would hold up if you dog is prone to pulling, but for gentle use it works great! I love the retractable feature because I didn't want a long cable that my dog would get tangled up in. This cord is great and is never tangled! I am happy with it so far. ... show more

  • Broke first time I used it. And my dog was only 50 lbs. Way under the suggested weight.
Pattern Name: Stake Size: Large (Pack of 1)
I ordered this tie out for my 50 lb dog thinking I would get the one for a stronger dog to make sure it would hold my black lab. The line would not retract after a few times going in and out. I have contacted the company but it says this item is unable to be returned. I hope they get back to me since I have contacted them and it is broken and will not work as described. ... show more

  • Loving this item - Hating the packaging
Pattern Name: Stake Size: Medium
The Retractable Tie Out is really nice. I have the medium size for my 50lb old Basset Hound. I agree with the other reviews that the retraction is too strong, it is constantly pulling on him but he doesn't seem to mind too much. The item seems sturdy and works well. Removing the tieout from the packaging was a nightmare. The twist ties are so tight and large they are difficult to cut - I thought I was going to loose a finger. There is a plastic cap to protect the pointed end of the tie out, it was very difficult to remove as well. The "reflective" blue sticker is poorly applied - it was already peeling off and full of bubbles. The whole unit is black - I think the unit would be better in a bright neon color so you can see it in the yard and not trip over it or run it over with the lawn mower. The cable length is 20feet so it gives the dog a large area (40 across) area to roam. ... show more

  • holds my 65lb dog no problem
Pattern Name: Bracket Size: Medium
I mounted this to the brick outside my house to allow my dog to have unsupervised time in the front. It works great and makes me feel good because it is sturdy. I would recommend an elastic extension, so it is not as abrubt with the dog when they go to chase something and reach the end of the leash.

  • Great retractable leash, but doesn't last long
Pattern Name: Stake Size: Medium
The functionality of this retractable leash is great, but the cable is cracking after less than 6 months of ownership causing the leash to not retract as the cable sheath is getting stuck in the feed hole. I will probably not purchase this model again, but I'll look for something similar.

  • Retracting mechanism failed ON THE VERY FIRST USE
Pattern Name: Stake Size: Medium
I bought two of these for my puppies to use in our unfenced yard, so they could be outside with me while I'm doing yardwork. (I have a 15 year old one made by Flexi that still works, but only one, and the spring in the retractable mechanism was too strong for my puppies when they were small.) These looked nice and went into the ground just as described in the instructions. Because of our rainy fall and winter, I didn't use either one right away. I attached dog #1, she walked out the length of the cable; but when she came back to me, the cable didn't retract - at all. In testing the other one, before attaching dog #2, I was dismayed that it only retracted 2-3 feet of its 20 foot length - no more. So I pulled them out of the ground (red flag #2? if this older-than-dirt old lady can pull it out of the ground with my bare hands, could my 53 lb. dog, who can yank me off my feet for a squirrel, do the same?), and soaked them overnight in lubricant. It made no difference at all. Imagine - a product created for use in the outdoors that can't withstand the outdoors. Of course these were out of warranty, so I contacted the manufacturer to see if there was a way I could repair them. Not only do they strictly stick to their warranty period, I was told these can't be taken apart to be repaired. I wish the Flexi company still made theirs, because these are nothing more than expensive scrap metal. ... show more

  • Exactly 20ft and semi-sturdy but no tangles!
Pattern Name: Bracket Size: Medium (Pack of 2)
The media could not be loaded. Originally we would let out dogs in our yard on what I thought was about 20ft of rope. They would get tangled on the tree the rope was attached to and each other. Now, they don’t get tangled on anything which is a huge relief. The retractable leashes don’t get tangled on anything and they seem to mount pretty sturdily to a deck post despite the mounting screws being pretty short. When the leads retract, the retracting mechanism is a little loud but that’s about it. It freely rotates when pulled in any direction. My only complaint is that I wish I measured the yard better. I would’ve probably picked a product with 30ft of length instead. ... show more

  • I am super happy with this product
Pattern Name: Stake Size: Medium
I am super happy with this product. I want to make sure to mention I used this product once on a camping trip to Joshua Tree. I didn't to worry about my dog since that Park is not very dog friendly and dogs must be on leash at all times. I followed the recommendations to attach the retractable cable to his usual walking leash and worked very well. He could just relax without the constant pull. My dog is a 4 month old - 40 pounds husky and wasn't bothered by the pull and had no difficulties walking around it. We also used it with his no-pull walking harnest that clips of the front - cause you know, huskies love to pull. He didn't try much to escape it though, even when he heard coyotes on a distance. I was impressed by how it took the desert ground. Our tent pegs bent but this did a great job going through the rocky ground and all the banging it took. My girlfriend attached Velcro to the rubber protector and to it so we wouldn't lose it cause otherwise you will break it trying to hammer it on to the ground. Since my intent is using it during camping I want to find a solution to prevent us from tripping on it. We put a glow stick on his collar so we could see him and one at the pole. We knew to watch for both but people that was not aware of the cable would definitely trip on the stretched cable. But I am very happy with it. I hope it holds like this for several uses ... show more
