Well I didn't know until I did! First time with clip-ins and it's been great! I did a thorough research of which Amazon listing had the curl pattern and reported consistency I liked and glad I found this one. I ordered 2 packs of the 18 inch kinky curly in 1b. Color matched well and install was a breeze. I washed the hair prior to install as advised and saw the reason why with the removal of residue. The smell did fade a few days later. With the 2 packs I had 2 small pieces left over. I did the flip over no leave out method. Besides braiding my hair down, it took about 30 minutes to install. Probably I'll perfect my method the more I play around with it. But my hair is 4c natural so that was the option for me. I was nervous to order a shorter length since the hair was curly and I wanted to factor in shrinkage. But the 18 inches were true length. I wet and finger comb apply curling lotion conditioner every days. If detangling I use a detangling brush. The hair is comfortable to wear so I go to bed wearing it. shipping was super fast! this is 2 packs of the 14 inch hair. i conditioned them and combed them out and honestly i love the way they look! gives me the length and volume i was looking for. you’re gonna need at least 1.5 packs for a full head, i admittedly have a pretty large head and i had to use all of it ... show more

I just received the hair and its really pretty, my only issue is that its more of a type 2 hair texture at the top and towards the ends its a type 3 hair texture. It does have a mild factory smell to it and it didn't come out after i washed it but that's not too much of a problem for me. while washing it it worked well and the shedding was manageable. Overall if your looking to get some affordable clip ins its good enough for a first attempt at curly clip ins but if your looking for the best quality don't come looking on amazon. EDIT- I've had these clip ins for almost a month and they are still in good condition, the factory smell does gone away overtime, the only con i have so far is that they take forever to air dry and if i diffuse them they come out frizzy other than that they are good for the money you pay. If you see any bad reviews im not gon say too much but you gotta know how to work with curly hair yes it will shed minimally ITS CURLY HAIR! but overall the hair is a good first start and good for how much you pay ... show more

Make sure you wash these before use. After I soaked these a bit a lot of dirt came out but once they were dry it was really soft. I couldn’t wear them right away because it wasn’t enough to cover my entire head
