  • Easy to assemble - take your time, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS
My wife purchased this toy for my niece's birthday, and had me assemble it prior to the party. She warned me that reviews complained that it was difficult to put together. Following the instructions, I used my phillips head, my cordless driver, and a hammer. I sat on the living room floor while watching reruns, and finished without problems in about an hour. Why do other people have so much trouble with this? First off, other reviewers have mentioned the issue of a lack of room when putting in the screws in the rear cupholders. The problem is they are not following the instructions. The screws are not meant to go in at a 90 degree angle to the side of the cupholder. Look at the picture in the instructions: the screws are at an angle, thus making accessibility with any screw driver--cordless or not--very easy. The screws will hold the rear roof supports onto the body whether they are at an angle or not. The screws are long enough to penetrate through both sides of the roof supports. Second, some of assembly involves forcing shaped plastic together. This will require more patience than strength. I am out of shape, yet I very easily got the front roof supports into the body, because I followed the instructions and rocked it back and forth while applying pressure with my other hand. Additionally, when you hammer the caps on to the end of the axles, make sure you use a hard surface. Get a small piece of wood to place them upon. As I was sitting on my carpeted living room floor, I moved it temporarily into the kitched, hammered the caps on, and moved back to the floor. Also, their are only a few holes on the toy that are predrilled for screws. This means that you have to put a little pressure behind the screws to make the holes. Again, take your time when doing this. There is no reason to rush. If you don't have the tools listed in the instructions, perhaps you should not attempt to put this together. But you don't need anything extra. You don't need a ratchet. You really don't need a cordless driver, except that it saves a bit of time, and spares your forearm muscles. You will need a hammer. Or maybe a brick. If you don't have the time to put this together, do not attempt to assemble it. If you can't read, well, you can't read my review anyway. As long as you received all the items, this is an easy toy to assemble. Also, my niece loves it. ... show more

  • My Granddaughter Loves It
My granddaughter loves her Cozy Coup. I was so excited when my daughter got this for her daughter - as I have many fond memories of both of my children playing with their cozy coup's when they were toddlers. The design hasn't changed a lot in the over 25 years since my kids had these - I guess if something isn't broke, don't fix it. One nice feature about the newer models is they are taller and I am able to push my 18 month old granddaughter in her "car" without it breaking my back. I am only 5'5" and I think anyone much taller then me would have to bend though. I put the coup together and used the on-line video instruction and it made the job very easy. I did it by myself and had no issues. I am a visual person so this was much better than the instruction manual. Following the video step-by-step will assure you don't put anything together bassackwards .... you do not want to try and take this baby apart believe me. After I put it together we took it for a few spins in the house on the hardwood floors and one of the front wheels did not operate properly - it was kind of "frozen" and wouldn't swivel like it should. I called Little Tikes and their rep was very friendly and helpful. Once we took it outside on the concrete it worked perfectly. Couldn't get the necessary traction inside (probably not an ideal inside toy anyway but with grandparents, we have a whole different set of rules than we did for our own kids lol!) . Get one of these for your kids or grandkids - they will love it - and so will you. ... show more

  • Great toy, great value, kids love it - assembly a bit tricky but doable with some patience
Overall, we are very satisfied with this product. We bought it for our 2 yr old daughter and she loves it. It is small enough to navigate indoors and sturdy enough to take outdoors to the park, etc. My main concern with purchasing it was the terrible reviews of fellow owners regarding assembly. I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars since it's a new purchase and I can't be sure of its durability and the poor instructions and time it took to assemble. Keep in mind, with a little patience and a bit of muscle, this is a great toy for the price and will bring years of enjoyment. If you are giving this as a gift - assemble it first - no parent will appreciate this being dropped off in pieces on their child's big day for them to assemble with mediocre instructions. Assembly - ****PLEASE BEWARE - If you purchase this product, prior to starting assembly open ALL packages and look for all instruction pages. I know that sounds obvious, but we had already had most of the car and top put together(while following the instructions) when the directions stopped making any sense and it was telling us to screw pieces into the roof where there weren't any predrilled holes. We also had to literally force the side blue pieces into the roof in a different way than the instructions stated because there was no other way to get them in. After rechecking the box for any other clues, we found a tiny package with 2 pink 'screws' and a piece of paper taped to the inside of one of the flaps. That piece of paper was an updated instruction page for nearly all the final steps. Apparently, Little Tikes couldn't be bothered to reprint their instruction manual now that they are making the coupe differently! Aside from this oversight from Little Tikes and the 20 mins of frustration it caused, this coupe is totally worth it for the price. Enjoy! ... show more
