It’s so cool to see the spirit’s element and the express and curiosity on their face when the live puppy shows up! We also have the bigger version of this toy and we’re so happy they made a mini size version that is still fun and affordable. My child had to use Christmas money for this. I didn’t think the price was worth it to add to his Christmas load from us. But as a gift from family it was super cute the dog is soft and bigger than I thought. The nail pop out once in a while in play but he just hammers them back in.

My daughter (6.5 yo) LOVES animals so I bought this for her and sure enough, she loved it! What’s unique: she got to build/construct the home for her pup, AND as a magical touch, the dog home is completely EMPTY- no dog anywhere. Once she started to hammer away (with the cute little hammer they give you), something magical happened and she opened the door to the dog house and voila! Her new pup was somehow in the house as if waiting for her to put the home together first. It was so fun and magical and my daughter hasn’t stopped talking about it since. Now she takes Starshine (or Star for short) with her wherever we go. And it’s a source of pride for her, too, that she got to build the home all on her own. Cannot recommend this toy enough.
