    • 4x6 Victorian with deck and rails

I purchased the 4x6 version of the Little Cottage Victorian playhouse with the additional deck and rails. It comes with all the necessary hardware and is relatively easy to construct (I did it in 1 day, by myself, though 2 people are nice for some of the construction and moving of the pieces). The instructions are reasonably good, though the pictures are low res and it is tough to make out details. The shipment took 2 weeks to arrive (I was told 1 week, which would have put it at our house in time for Christmas) and was missing 4 of the gingerbread corner pieces. I called to let them know I was missing pieces, and they asked me to take a picture of the missing pieces (???). So I took a picture of the house minus the 4 gingerbread corner pieces and sent it to them. Almost 3 weeks later, I have still not received the replacement pieces. I just received and email from the company saying that they shipped the replacement pieces to the wrong person and they are shipping them *again* UPS ground. So I need to waiting another week+ before I can finish the playhouse. I was willing to give a 3 star rating until the company decided to ship the second round of replacement gingerbread via ground. Now I give them a 2 star rating. It seems to me the proper customer relationship approach would be to spend a few extra dollars and ship these pieces overnight. But I guess customer service is not in the Little Cottage Company DNA. Update: Received an email today saying they were indeed shipping the missing pieces UPS Ground - priority. So all is not lost at Little Cottage Co. I have upgrade the review to 3-stars. ... show more

    • Particle Board, Really?
Particle board, really? All the exterior trim is made of particle board. Unless you live in the desert, this won't last one season, painted or not. Also, all the other components are made of pine which isn't ideal in wet areas like Florida. Other than that, assembly was straight forward, but not for the faint of heart, it's a big job and really requires prior carpentry knowledge (which I have). The price point is fine, other than I'll need to replace all the trim next year. I'd probably have been better off building from scratch. Pictures coming soon, not quite finished yet. ... show more

    • Kids' Love it - 4 hour build and 1-2 hours for roofing.

Overall this item is as described and well built for the most part. The instructions are horrible but anyone with some building skills will have no problem putting this together. Not all walls came labeled as the instructions imply so some basic common sense is needed in assembly. You cannot do this alone you will need another adult (wives you can help). When its finished its a great playhouse prefect for the kids in the summer and kid toy storage in the winter. We are very happy with this Playhouse and hope the kids make great memories using it. ... show more
