This was a good choice for carrying a couple casseroles. It's so easy to transport while also being very sturdy. I haven't yet tested it for handling spills and such; the inside material is wipeable so I'm sure it'll be fine. As noted, there isn't much 'structure' between the top and bottom layer, as I found out with smooshed foil on my lasagna; it's fine when you're carrying it by the handles, you notice it once you sit it down. Easy enough to use a hard top on anything that goes in the bottom and/or light items on top. Very attractive with the blue and white, seems nautical. This has been a perfect acquisition for the start of the holiday season! From mid-November to mid-January there won’t be a week when we won’t have a gathering where this will be used. Each of the two compartments is large enough to hold a 9x13 casserole dish or baking pan with room to spare. The compartments are also well insulated so the food will stay hot (or cold depending on what you are bringing). The inner lining is a smooth aluminum foil material and is easy to clean with soap and water if anything spills. We typically have lids for the dishes so this hasn’t been an issue, but it is nice to be able to give the inside a quick wipe down to keep everything sanitary for the next use. The exterior material is a heavy-duty oxford fabric that is not only durable but also attractive. We opted for the basic black but thought the gray was appealing too. The “soft-sided” carrier easily collapses down for convenient storage, but the non-rigid sides can pose a bit of a problem if you have items in both compartments. As long as you are holding the carrier by the handles, gravity works to your benefit by keeping the dishes separated, but if you set the carrier down, the top container will settle onto the lower one. If you are using dishes with fairly rigid lids and keep the heavier of the two items on the bottom, you’ll be fine, or you can remove the top container while still holding the handles, but the side-walls alone are not enough to keep the top weighted container from settling onto the bottom one. Yesterday we took two 9 x 13 dishes to a large gathering of family and friends for Thanksgiving dinner in this carrier. What a nice item! (The food was great too!) It is well made, with good stitching, sturdy fabric, good shape, robust lining, and well made and connected handles/straps. And it passed the visual test as the other guests admired it even though that certainly wasn't the point. Kept the food warm, and it was easy to clean after. We didn't have an opportunity to find out how well it handles a serious spill, but it appears well enough stitched and sealed with sturdy seams that we didn't feel worried about hitting the brakes too hard or taking a turn too sharply and fining casserole all over the passenger seat! Part of its appeal is that it is soft enough to flatten and store but robust enough to hold two heavy dishes securely while being carried by hand or stashed behind the front seat on the floor of the car. Just be aware that even though the two sections form separate zippered compartments, they have a soft barrier between them. That means that though it is enough to keep the two adequately isolated, if you put a heavy dish in the top compartment, it may compress into the lower dish--it is not a rigid "box". Our solution was to simply place an appropriately sized cutting board on top of the bottom dish in its compartment with it. We didn't try to find out if it would have been okay without that.
