If you're like me, you read the good and bad reviews for this hoping the bad were anomalies or the result of user error. Sadly, they're not. My first day using this case, my phone was never submerged in water. We were caught in the rain at one point, but it wasn't heavy. Later on I looked at my phone and water was in the case along with dust. As I inspected the case, I noticed that with less one day of use, the rubber gasket that seals the charging port had fallen out. The most vulnerable part of the case, and in less than 24 hours of normal use - only opening/closing the port once to charge - and it falls apart. There was also no evidence of adhesive to keep the rubber in place. And due to this, my charging port is now malfunctioning. Truly disappointed in the quality of this case. Side notes: Yes, the film covering the fingerprint sensor feels odd, but it works fine. I had no issues with the proximity sensor and calls as others have noted. I didn't notice any camera focusing issues as sometimes happens with Lifeproof cases. Sound is slightly muffled when playing through the speakers, but that goes with the territory. This case offers peace of mind from sand/dirty hands, and adds drop protection without compromising photo quality - and that's all I care about, hence the 5 star rating. This should be nobody's primary case unless you work construction (or similar) because it takes away from the phone experience otherwise. I put it on before heading to the gym, beach, bike rides, hikes - things like that. This is the only case offering full device protection for the Pixel 2 XL currently. While we may not need water resistance provided, we do need (along with every other Gorilla glass device currently) protection from sand - as that can scratch the glass...and what good is a phone like this if we can't take it to the beach/etc. and utilize the camera fearlessly? ... show more

Well, it pains me to write this. But, I have to. Sometimes you are left with no other option but to write a less than stellar review. I have been a hard core Lifeproof customer since at least 2016. I have always ordered Lifeproof cases. Cases were ordered for kids phones, recommendations to friends, procurement for employees, etc. There was no better customer. This product was originally purchased on Amazon on December 3, 2017. The product worked perfectly. It protected my phone. If I take the phone out of the case, it is is mint condition. No joking. It's now the end of 2019 and the phone is still perfect. I could easily put the phone in it's original box, and sell it as new. No one would know. Unfortunately, at least for a Google Pixel 2XL, the design was flawed. The case buttons protecting the phone ultimately fail. They last about 6 months. I had to RMA the case twice (RMA#1= 06.18.18 / RMA#2=11.23.18). Customer service was great every time. Fast forward to December 9, 2019. Same issue. I called technical support and was informed they don't make it anymore. We can't help you they said. Now I am stuck searching for a new case and/or switching to a different brand. Would I buy it again? Probably. Would I recommend to someone else? No. The buttons don't last. ... show more

I've had the product for just over a month. So far the screen during calls has stopped lighting up when I pull the phone away from ear. Making it difficult to deal with the already annoying automated systems. The bottom speaker/mic cover got destroyed the very first time I opened the charging port my finger nail pulled it off.but the worst thing by far is that the power button no longer makes contact with the actual power button. It has always been hard to press the button I constantly activate the Google assistant trying to lock my phone. But now the power button just misses the phones power button all together. So there is no way to lock the phone making the case effectively useless. ... show more

Terrible design, no one can hear me when I use speaker and hardly when using the phone regular, thr sound of the speakers gets muffled out to yhe point you might as well be listening to your headphones out on full blast, and the lower piece of this plastic coverin the lower speaker is exactly where your nail needs to dig in to pry open the charger port cover, which has a small piece of rubber that I found on the floor one day and realized it was the waterproof seal for the case. Way too many problems to ignore. Very dissatisfied considering this was supposed to be one of the best options as far as cases go ... show more

The case provides TOO much cover! It covers the sensors on the top of the phone, rendering it unable to detect any ambient light. Thus, the phone disables the screen's always on feature (i.e. always displaying quick info such as date, time, and weather even while on locked mode) and the touchscreen ability for you to unlock it because it always thinks it is inside your pocket (thereby preventing any accidental butt dialing). Moreover, the case covers the microphone so much that whenever i would hold a telephone conversation, the other person on the line could not hear what i was saying. So to temporarily fix the light sensor issue while waiting for my replacement phone case, i melted the plastic screen in order to uncover the sensor. The case i purchased to replace this one was the i-Blason Ares. And LOVE IT the new case to this day! ... show more
