Bought used; had good luck before but this time first had 4-5p dead pixel line across horizontal span, and a bad DP cable, second was missing some accessories like the DP cable entirely (was rookie mistake sending first back before I got replacement, not that DP cable from first would've helped) but so far looks to be good panel except at 60Hz it had line artifacts, switching to 75Hz made it go away, first didn't do that, something I will have to look into further but for now will assume is not a problem. This early review. In middle of room renovation but just wanted make sure got good panel. Despite dead line was able to run some tests on first, and display what I would expect having owned quality IPS is past. Was able to change to 10-bit color in NVIDIA. HDR on this is a lot better than on Odyssey G9, little faded/dim but decent enough that you could leave it on, but still suck compared to normal desktop mode. However for content and things like comparing color tones maybe it could be properly considered a feature, will take more time to decide what I think about it. On unrelated point to this monitor, comparisons to some high end VA panels shows the quality of VA panels has increased to point I don't see much difference. Though I do agree that 1600p should become standard. It's time. Though 90Hz needs to replace 60Hz standard as well. Refresh rate is slow for this price point. But 75Hz is at least some polish over 60, and probably good thing for me because I pushing a lot of monitors on my GPU I would have liked more curve. But sense this isn't all that curved can still flip it around to vertical without looking weird and that something I may end up doing often. I use Fancy zones from microsoft powertoys (free) .. 3 windows across is decent at 150% zoom, will transition pages into condensed format and 2 windows generally gives full web page content width at 150% zoom. Anything below 125% is probably too small for comfortable reading at this resolution. Nice monitor with lots of screen space. Interestingly the speakers on this connected to my computer in background didn't notice until tried change volume on soundbar and nothing happened and realized was coming from monitor. I didn't connect audio cable, sense these speakers have BT connectivity, I assumed it was using that, to test I turned off bluetooth and continued to work, so audio is being passed through the DP cable which is pretty cool. Sound isn't bad at all, good quality at lower volumes so I'll probably use it when need avoid being heard by sleeping people in house. Of course Winamp's Milkdrop visualization looks amazing with this many pixels to play with. fullscreen 16:9 mode such as watching standard youtube content is 29" diagonal

It was time to upgrade from dual 24" monitors and I was looking for an ultrawide monitor. There were not that many 38" monitors on the market and I've noticed that most of the screens are manifactured by LG. The prices ranged wildly from $800 - Acer Gaming Monitor 37.5" Ultra Wide Curved XR382CQK bmijqphuzx 3840 x 1600 1ms Response Time AMD FREESYNC Technology (Display, HDMI & MHL Ports) to $1500 (this monitor). This one was the latest model with no reviews at all. However, it was very similar to their previous 38" ultrawide - LG 38UC99-W 38-Inch 21:9 Curved UltraWide QHD+ IPS Monitor with Bluetooth Speakers which just got price reduction. I chose LG 38WK95C-W because: Pros * It's the latest model (2018) * Supports Macbook Pro (both hardware and software) * Amazing color, contrast and picture quality - great for video and photo editing Cons * Price - as an alternative you can buy previous model * 60Hz (75Hz with AMD card) refresh rate - not for serious gaming, but I don't play FPS games. TL;DR: If you can afford it - get this monitor. You will not regret it.

Been using the monitor for about a week. I use it for work (programming) and personal use including light gaming. Very pleased. The 3840x1600 at 38" size is just right for a productive environment and a great alternative to a standard 4k and typical ultra wides. If you on the fence about this or a large 4k the 1600 vertical pixels is the perfect height. I am very happy I went this route and feel I would have neck strain using a large 4k. Pros: Size, Color (a pro artist may not agree), Text size without scaling is comfortable, Quality, and Packaging. Inbetween: The software works but like most vendors is not spot on. Cons: Provided cords could and should be longer.

I am not averse to spending a lot of money on my monitors. I'm not a gamer, so I don't need a 360hz freesync monitor - instead, I'm a productivity user that writes a lot of code. In fact, my main setup has two 43" 4k LG monitors. The thing is that I recently started a new job, and my needs for that are a bit different. For starters, I have to use corporate equipment for the computer. I can BYOD a monitor, so I initially tried one of my 43"s. The problem is that I spend most of my time on webconferences now, and there's no good place to put a camera when you have that kind of display in front of you. I looked around and decided on the LG 38WK95C-W. The LG 38WK95C-W isn't a new monitor, but it did check several boxes for me. I didn't want to take too much of a step back resolution-wise, or size-wise, so that eliminated all of the units with sub-1440 vertical resolution. At 38", I could have a good productivity resolution (3840x1600) without having to immediately give it back by setting the desktop scaling to a value over 100%. The monitor arrived in a huge box. The frame and stand assembled with a single screw, and the monitor clicked on to the stand assembly. Setup took a couple minutes. The base looks like a nice, quality piece, whereas the vertical column is silver-painted plastic. Sigh. It's not the end of the world, but it's a disappointing cut corner on a $1000 monitor. The panel looks nice, with minimal bezels. I'm partial to IPS panels, though I guess it probably matters less with a curved screen. Still, the color looks nice, and the viewing angles are good. It's not really super accurate on color, but that's not what I'm using this one for anyway. Brightness is good enough for what I'm doing, though 100% white screens it's easy to spot backlighting variation. On 100% black screens it's easy to spot light leakage. Deficiencies are tougher to spot in basically any other conditions. While the monitor is said to support HDR10, I don't think it would do much except tone mapping, given the backlight setup. The OSD is pretty much what you get with any LG monitor, except you're forced to use the joystick, as this monitor doesn't have a remote. The port setup is friendly for hooking up computers and peripherals, though it's not super attractive if the back of your monitor is going to be normally visible. There is a cheap cable management plastic clip... not impressive. Again, this is an expensive monitor... With my work setup, I was basically constrained to selecting a curved monitor (I'd not owned one before). I was definitely not going to spend $1700 on an LG 40WP95C-W. Getting an older LG 38WK95C-W was perfect for me because the price and height (for my webcam) worked for me. Obviously, YMMV. What I will say, though, is that getting a curved monitor of this type really cuts down on your competitive options. If you don't NEED one, you're probably better off getting a flat monitor for much less. Conditionally Recommended

After doing a ton of research, I finally landed on the LG 38" wide-screen UHD computer monitor for my gaming setup in my office. The trick was finding a display that would work with both the 4k from my PS4Pro as well as the 4k from my PC on different video inputs...and this thing truly shines! If you've never seen a 4k display before...you are in for a treat (provided you have 4k capability). The additional detail and resolution is certain games is amazing. God of War-PS4P is nothing short of spectacular. Gorgeous colors, hair rendering, sweat trickles, bugs moving on a tree branch, runes swirling on the fine lattice work...it's all comes out with this monitor. And the HDR profiles adds that pop to make everything jump off the screen. The refresh rate is fantastic and I haven't seen a flicker in any game, from F1 2017, Call of Duty, or Deus Ex-2 even on their highest settings. You can really PUSH your graphics cards with this monitor. There are only two 4k inputs (one HDMI and one DP) and one low-speed HDMI, plus two USB ports. Note: compatibility may be an issue...check your cables as you'll need High-speed HDMI and DisplayPort cables to get this to work with your devices (we had troubles with a 2017 Mac using an older HDMI to DP cable...we found out we needed a newer cable). Also, if you are using USB-C adapters at the end of your cables for video, you may also run into an issue. You'll need a high-speed cable without any adapters on the end (the cable CAN have different end-connectors; just not the adapters). All in all, I absolutely love this monitor. It's a bit pricey, but it is well worth it for the picture you get.

UPDATE: I've upgraded from 3 to 5 stars. I still can't figure out how to make night shift work, but I finally got the settings to get close enough. It's a nice monitor and I plan on keeping it. ==== So I just installed it, and the major issue is that no matter what I try, this monitor will not reflect the Night Shift settings from my 2019 16" MacBook Pro. My Samsung curved monitor has no issues with this. I'm connected via USB-C. I haven't tried another connection, as if that is required for night shift compatibility, then I'll be returning this. I've tinkered with the monitor's settings, but they don't help much. Just staring at this harsh white page of Amazon is painful. I'll contact LG but if it can't be fixed then this will be returned. Otherwise, the monitor is solid. Easy to assemble. Came with lots of cables, which was nice. I love the stand; easy to adjust and has a nice max height (severely lacking from most monitors).

This monitor was great - for a week! I used it to enhance work productivity and loved the extra space for everything I needed to keep open. I used it for about a week, then, on its last day of use, I shut down my laptop like normal. I woke up to the attached photo and am pretty angry about this. The monitor wasn't mishandled in any way (how could I have -- I was asleep and live by myself!) and just decided display a bunch of horizontal/vertical lines, rather than my desktop. As you can see by the photo with the monitor off, there isn't anything visibly/physically wrong that can be seen. Save yourself the money and don't risk dropping a grand on a product that will just die on you. If they won't accept a return or replacement, they can have a fun time dealing with my credit card company when I file a chargeback :) I'll update this review if anything changes due to a positive/negative customer service experience.

Day one: Great experience so far. I just finished setting it up. This thing is truly a beast and I'm hooked. This is my first curved widescreen monitor, and I must say it is amazing. I'm a developer and I spend a lot of time in front of the screen. It has a crisp, clear resolution (unlike a 5K screen, but I knew that going in) and tons of real estate to code with while multitasking. I also have an older Apple 27" CinemaDisplay (although it's not as crystal clear as my retina 2018 MacBook Pro). The Apple CinemaDisplay is connected to this VESA mount https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MIBN16O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), but the LG's size alone (IMHO) precludes my need for dual monitors since you can see everything on ONE nice neat screen. Truly immersive. I am just getting my new office space set up (see photos). It fits nicely on my BDI Sequel Lift Desk (https://www.amazon.com/BDI-Furniture-6052-CWL-Chocolate/dp/B01JDA7WIK/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1545075395&sr=1-1&keywords=bdi%2Bsequel%2B6052&th=1). I chose to use this VESA mount (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B21TLQU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) vs. the LG stand that came with it. I placed the VESA mount bar to the far right side of my desk, so the monitor looks like it is "floating" in front of me. Despite some of the comments about brightness levels, it seems to be more than adequately bright for me. I use Bose (QC-35 Series II) wireless (Bluetooth) headphones too, so it doesn't really bother me that I am unable to adjust the volume on the monitor via my Mac keyboard. The sound (for the built-in monitor speakers) is actually surprisingly decent. The LG On-Screen Control software (in my case for Mac, found here: https://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-38WK95C-W#manuals) allows you to choose optional settings instead of manually using the control knob/button just under the middle of the screen. Incidentally, I absolutely do not get any "kickbacks" for posting links, I'm simply listing items I have ordered and use that I had a positive experience with. So far so good. I'll update my post as time progresses...Hope this helps someone! TL;DR - Although it may seem pricey, you won't regret it. What do you have to lose?
