DO NOT LISTEN TO THE COMMENT ABOUT THE MONITOR ONLY DISPLAYING 60Hz (1440p). You have to have a cable that is rated to do the correct speeds. The user is most likely using a cable that is only 10.2 Gbps. If you have purchased this monitor, you will want to get one of the following cables: Lowest Requirement: 1 x HDMI 2.0 Cable or HIGHER (18 Gbps) 1 x DP (DisplayPort)1.2 Cable or HIGHER (17.28 Gbps) Recommended Cable: 1 x HDMI 2.1 (2.1a is also available) (48Gbps) 1 x DP 2.0 (DisplayPort) (77.36 Gbps) There are plenty of benefits when buying a good quality cable. You will not only get to display higher resolutions, but you may also receive a higher color gamut. Please do a quick google search on how your cable affects your quality. NOTE: HDMI 1.4 can "technically" handle 1440p @ 144hz, but you need compression enabled to do so. It is always best to get the highest-rated cables for future use. It will save you more money, in the long run, buying a good quality cable. You also need to make sure your GPU has support for this. If you are using a GPU that is outdated, then you may not have support for HDMI 2.0/DP 1.2 or higher. Please check all of these specifications before buying a monitor like this. ... show more

Fantastic Ultra Wide Monitor The screen size is perfect for the right immersion for gaming and excellent for multi window work. The refresh rate works as mentioned. It depends on the content you are using it for but I have gotten 160hz refresh rate but you would need to have the heavy duty graphics card to make it count. Pros: Picture Quality, Pixel density and size is perfect for gaming, work and editing. I also really love the adaptive lighting panel on the back of the monitor, the video sync feature is a must to increase immersion effect of color matching to content. Cons: The first monitor I purchased had a faulty USB type B port. Returned and got a 2nd monitor and no problems so really no cons here. Note: To get the video sync mode to work for the adaptive lighting panel on the back of the monitor you have to do a deep search for the LG Control Center just to find the software. LG needs to have this be user friendly to find. I had to rely on a reddit page to find the link to the software... ... show more

Extremely impressed. Bought this "used" from G-overstock. Box came in not so great shape but the monitor itself is in new condition and only had 62 hours of use. No dead or stuck pixels, no scratches, and no regrets. I previously had a LG 34gp83-A and loved that so much decided to take it to the next level with LGs 38" model. Pros: 160hz and freesync is a smooth experience at any framerate. Response times are fantastic as well. Screen real estate is excellent, really hits that sweet spot. With 34" I was wishing for a bit of extra height, the 38" provides that. Colors appear slightly improved from the 34GP83-A Contrast is a touch better than the 34GP83-A (At least to my eye) The RGB ring the rear I thought I wasn't going to use, but it is very nice in the dark. Only wish it got a bit brighter. Cons: Price - for sure not 2x the price of the 34GP83-A, going used made this a slightly easier pill to swallow Compared to the 34GP83-A the monitor itself is a bit thicker and not as "minimalist" looking - really a nitpick here. Contrast is weak compared to VA panels and OLEDs. Really not as big a deal as it seems, if playing in a fairly lit room it is hardly noticeable. Only HDMI 2.0 - work laptop tops out at 75Hz using this input. Overall near an "endgame" monitor for a immersive focused gamer and workstation combo. Think this will be tough to beat for years to come until ultrawide OLEDs become a reality. ... show more

    • This monitor does not perform to adverstised refresh rate. Will not go above 60Hz.
LG customer support was completely usless. The support person said he was not qualified to answer how to make setting adjustments for this monitor. He works for LG customer support and hw does not know how to make setting adjustments for monitor. USLESS customer support. Called twice on this issue. No help. Will not buy another device from this brand. $2489.74 for a monitor that customer support cannot provide support for setting. Very unhappy with this purchase. Advertised overclock of 160-175 Hz. It will not go above 60Hz. Wish I could return this monitor back to Amazon. ... show more
