The monitor performed well for 7 months, and picture quality was good for my home office work. I am not a gamer and cannot testify about the suitability of the monitor for gaming purposes. This week on Monday a thin black line going all the way from left to write couple inches above the bottom appeared. Shortly after the left part of monitor stopped working, but most of the monitor continued to show a usable image. While conversing with LG about the support, I continues using the monitor. While I was easting lunch, the plastic started to bubble and melted above the bottom left hand side corner, I thankfully noticed that before the fire started, and turned the monitor off. This was a really scary experience, never had any other monitors behave this way. I spoke with LG using their support chat a few times already, I was promised the info about where and how to ship the monitor for investigation and service, and the email still did not arrive. Seems like you need to explain the whole situation again and again and nothing happens. I am very disappointed with how the support is handling my case. Will provide an update here once I go through the process. Here is an update: I received a replacement unit from LG , the new display looks good, will keep my fingers crossed that it works well and does not burn my house. ... show more

    • Great office monitor for my MacBook

I'm in product marketing and was looking a for a monitor to replace my 10+ year old old Apple Thunderbolt Display. I wanted something that would let me have several windows open at once (mostly office and creative apps), which brought me to UltraWide. The LG 34WP85C checked all the boxes and I haven't been disappointed. The USB-C connectivity is working perfectly for data transfer and to power my 2018 MacBook Pro. The picture quality is great and the speakers have been perfect for background music while working. Ergonomics are fine and I finally have a monitor set up at a comfortable viewing height. I did have one USB device (Lume Cube LED light) that needed more power than the USB ports could/would deliver, but that was no big deal as the ports work great for my Jabra Speak 510 and Yeti Nano mic. I would have loved a second USB-C port for my 4K webcam, but alas I just plug it into my Mac and everything is working perfectly. Gamers and high end creative people may have different requirements, but no complaints from this "traditional office worker" in the tech space. Great monitor for me. ... show more

It was just OK. I did encounter the battery charging "status" issue that another user mentioned however it seemed to charge fine not running down the battery. I thought that was one of those Apple things where you don't charge it to full capacity. The USB 2/3 ports didn't power my USB devices however which was kind of a bummer. The point is, it's a monitor and I certainly could have overlooked it not being a stellar USB hub. The screen was not terribly bright and the quality to me was just average.     • Bad QA - USB-C Charging Issues

Everything about this display is great except for the fact that the USB-C charging is not reliable. I'm running a Macbook Pro 16" 2019 model. I have multiple USB devices plugged into the display and use it as a USB hub, as well as a charger for the laptop. The only connection I have to my MBP is a single USB-C connection to the display. The USB-C port works as expected for a couple hours at a time. It handles all the USB connectivity, display, and power features as expected. After a period of ~4 hours of use, it stops charging the laptop. The battery indicator in the title bar on the laptop indicates that the battery is not charging. Aside from charging, all other features work as expected. This is a big issue because: 1. the only indication the battery is being drained is a tiny icon changing in the title bar. There's no indication of a problem until the computer battery completely dies 2. Plugging in a separate charger doesn't work. The laptop thinks the display is charging, so doesn't recognize a different power supply being plugged in. To fix this issue I have to power-cycle the display multiple times I've verified that this is a display issue by plugging the same USB-C cable into a different Macbook. The same exact issue occurred (no charging, but USB and video work). I'm returning this display. It's REALLY frustrating that a $700 display is broken right out of the box. It has all the features that I need. I can connect both Mac USB -C And Window PC Display port/HDMI Side By Side. There is option setting Inlut PBP. Sound is not so good ok. Split screen works nicely with software.

I am very happy with this purchase for my 16" MacBook Pro (2019). The monitor is my primary charging source and it is working great so far. Once I turned off HDR the screen and colors look great!
