  • Good for the Price
I am running this next to a 27" IPS 1440p monitor. Refurbished Thoughts... First off, the refurbished nature of the product. There is a built in runtime that you can access from the menu to verify how much usage there has been with your particular unit. Mine came with about 160 hours on it and it still looked brand new. It is a VA panel so you do not have to worry about burn-in or anything like that. Overall for the $200 I paid it will be hard to beat this. Picture Quality Out of the box the image quality is pretty bad. The contrast is off, the overall color accuracy is terrible, and in general it just doesn't look great. Granted, I am running this next to a colorimeter calibrated IPS monitor. I think the image quality would be acceptable out of the box if this were running standalone. Using my i1 Display Pro I calibrated the monitor and now the color is almost indistinguishable from the IPS panel it is next to. I highly recommend calibrating this monitor. It is brighter and clearer than the HDR mode when calibrated. VA Panel? Re: Common issues mentioned There are mentions of a "shadow" or "3d effect" around the panel's edges. This is NOT specific to this monitor. My IPS has the same effect. If you look at the edge of the monitor from an acute angle you will see a black edge run along the side of the screen. From normal viewing this is not visible. Ghosting Now the big one. Ghosting. Yes, this VA panel suffers from ghosting with blacks in particular. However, I don't notice it unless I am looking for it. This is really a situation where you have to see it to decide. I can jump back and forth between my IPS and VA and see the difference. I ran the UFO ghosting test next to my IPS to see the difference. It is quite obvious. There is an option to turn on 1ms blur reduction but that doesn't do much from what I could tell. It darkens the screen and also requires you to disable variable refresh rate. The ghosting looks like a black shadow trailing an object. I have attached a couple images that give you an idea compared to my IPS panel. When it comes down to the it the price is great. It is a large monitor and the text isn't as sharp, but I knew that going into this. If you want a large monitor that can handle some gaming then give this a shot. The price is right. If you can shell out $150 more then go with a 4k native. ... show more

  • Low brightness and some shadowing, still a good product for the price range, i paid 220$
The box arrived scuffed, fresh from being inevitably dropped somewhere on the way 2000 miles in two days from Seattle, still that didn't affect the final results which I collected upon arrival listed here: 1. some flickering and some shadowing on some settings - 165 hz refresh or g-sync its gonna be personal preference or based on what your computer can handle, on my rig I have adaptive-sync and motion blur reduction off, they didn't work properly (shadowing) for my system and there was slightly reduced performance for my gaming purposes with these settings. 2. (220$, 2k, 32 in, 144+ refresh rate) LOWEST price listing on Amazon for these requirements. the low brightness + frame shadowing reviews have some merit. 3.The colors on certain darker Shades and certain lighter Shades blend together correlating with the overall brightness of the monitor being lower than preffered due to going QHD instead of true 2k. For games with dark colors it requires a lot of optimization on the moniter panel and default profiles on the moniter weren't ideal for when it wasn't dark afterwards. IE, text in web browser was not visible in certain grey fonts with a white background on soundcloud. My scorecard = Price =5/5 220$ Quality of Materials and Design choices = 4/5 (short power cable with a wall brick to plug in) Product and Box condition on arrival = 3.25/5 {like new, appeared to be dropped a few times judging the condition of the box on arrival, even with a picture of the item on the side. Works fine though despite my room flooding with tiny Styrofoam bits when I opened the box. Just two layers of styrofoam were enough and i found that it didn't appear to take any direct hits to the flat side of the box, which probably would have broken the product.) Picture quality, colors, brightness, and screen reflection= 3/5 QHD looks pretty good but its like having small difference between a TV or a monitor. Shell out a hundred bucks extra for true 2k to get a better experience with less optimizing required out of the box. Overall = 3.69/5 good product for low price, has some few drawbacks that keep it from excellency. ... show more

  • A great deal
The monitor has been good for a few days now, and I just wanted to share the exprience of choosing renewed. The product itself is great no dead or stuck pixels, no scratches or bumps, so far so good. However when I saw the box it arrived in I thought that I made a huge mistake, it was literaly dripping styrofoam bits, inside whole pieces of styrofoam were missing, and the protective film that was supposed ot be on the screen was stuck to the packing instead, luckily the monitor was bagged properly, and LG seems to go extra hard on thick styrofoam so when I finished setting it up, all was well, but what a rollercoaster of emotions. Oh and the monitor likes to report its optimal resolution as 3840x2160, so you have to manually set it to 2560x1440 in your os settings so it doesn't look blurry, and sometimes it defaults to the larger blurry setting in lock screen, why is that setting even reported if it exceeds the panel max anyway, mabye because im on HDMI or its a LG quirk not sure, thats my only gripe. ... show more

  • 2 weeks in, going strong
Considering it's a refurbished model, it came in the original box (a box within a box, actually), original packaging, and still had the plastic film on the frame... It doesn't feel refurbished. I've been using it somewhat consistently for the past 2 weeks and no issues so far; will update if things start to go awry. ... show more
