  • Great Value for High Refresh Rate 1080p Gaming
This is a great value option if you want high refresh rate 1080p gaming without spending a ton of money. At around $170, getting a 27-inch IPS panel with a 200 Hz refresh rate, adaptive sync, and snappy response times makes a lot of sense for a budget or midrange gaming setup. It is especially appealing if you care more about smoothness and responsiveness than chasing 1440p or 4k. Games feel very smooth at 200 Hz, especially shooters, racing games, action games, and anything where camera movement is fast. The response times feel quick enough that motion stays clear and controlled instead of turning into a blurry mess, and input feels responsive when paired with a capable PC or a console that can output at 120 Hz. This is one of those upgrades that is immediately noticeable if you are coming from a basic 60 Hz or 75 Hz office monitor. The adaptive sync support is also a big part of the value. FreeSync Premium means it works well with AMD cards, but it is also G-Sync compatible for Nvidia users, and that flexibility matters if you upgrade GPUs or use more than one system. It should also play nicely with consoles that support VRR, so you are not locked into one ecosystem. Getting smoother gameplay with less tearing and stutter is one of those features that makes a monitor feel better every day, not just on a spec sheet. The IPS panel looks good for the price. Colors are much better than the washed out look you can get from cheaper gaming monitors that use TN panels and viewing angles are solid. At 27 inches, 1080p is not going to look as razor sharp as a smaller 24 inch 1080p monitor or a 27 inch 1440p display, so that is worth keeping in mind if you sit very close or do a lot of text heavy work. For gaming, though, the size feels immersive and the lower resolution also makes it much easier to actually hit those higher frame rates. The HDR support is more of a nice compatibility checkbox than a reason to buy the monitor. It can accept HDR10, but this is still a budget friendly IPS gaming monitor, not an OLED or high end mini led display with serious HDR brightness and local dimming. I would treat HDR as a bonus for certain content, not the main selling point. The real reason to buy this is the smooth 200 Hz gaming experience. I also like that LG includes desktop control through LG Switch. Being able to adjust picture settings, brightness, and layouts from the computer is much nicer than constantly reaching under the monitor and clicking through the built in menu. The stand is slim and the design is clean enough that it fits into a gaming setup without looking ridiculous, while the matte coating helps keep reflections under control. Overall, this is a strong budget gaming monitor if you want smooth 1080p performance, good IPS color, adaptive sync flexibility, and a refresh rate that feels much faster than standard displays. It is not the monitor I would buy for true HDR or maximum pixel density, but for the price, it delivers exactly where it should. ... show more

  • Great standard monitor but take care when removing the included monitor stand.
This monitor is a solid standard piece of equipment. It's 200hz and 1ms response time are easy positives and great for gaming. It doesn't get to 1440p but many prefer 1080 anyway and it is easier on the graphics card. It also has a very nice and sleek look to it. LG has always been a very reliable brand to buy from. Something to pay attention to is the included monitor arm. After I installed it, it was very very difficult to remove. I ended up having to use more force than I was comfortable with to remove it, but it did come off without breaking. Just something to keep in mind if you plan to switch to a monitor mount at some point. ... show more

  • Good quality budget gaming monitor
This monitor works out very good for me and as someone that only occasionally play games. I use this more for other computer tasks and know that it can handle basic gaming needs. The screen quality is more than adequate with good colors and clean pictures. It also has good viewing angles. One thing that is missing that I wish it did have is adjustable height. However, I was aware of this beforehand so didn't affect my rating. There were plenty of ports in the back with both DisplayPort and 2 HDMI. Being a gaming monitor, it does have a higher refresh rate so keeps the picture looking sharper and smoother. You do get a very good quality monitor for the budget price and from a good company. ... show more

  • Solid budget gaming monitor that hits high refresh rates without breaking the bank.
If you are looking to get into a 200Hz gaming monitor from a known brand without spending a fortune, this LG UltraGear is a really solid option. It handles the actual gaming side of things extremely well, even if it clearly shows its budget roots in a few other areas. Setup out of the box was trivial. You just need a standard Phillips screwdriver handy to attach the metal base to the vertical arm, and then it clips right into the back of the monitor. The base feels sturdy and holds everything anchored well, and the thin bezels look pretty sleek on the desk. My main complaint with the physical build is the stand itself. It does not allow for vertical height adjustment or portrait rotation. The monitor I replaced was set up in portrait mode, so I had to reorganize my desk a bit to make this work. If you need height adjustment or rotation, you will probably want to make use of the VESA mount points on the back. Also, small nitpick, the AC adaptor (pictured) is huge and I had to make space on my surge strip. Why can't it just be a standard 3 pin kettle lead? For actual gameplay and video, the performance is right where it needs to be. I did not notice any motion blur, ghosting, or stuttering, and the motion feels very fluid. That said, the feature set in the menu feels a bit gimmicky. The built-in crosshair mode is pretty useless, and the different "gamer" presets mostly just change the overall color temperature instead of giving you meaningful display options. There are customizable RGB values and other things to tweak to your heart's content, but honestly leaving them alone is probably what any but the most hardcore hackers should be doing. Side-by-side with my other 27-inch monitor(picture attached - new LG on the right), the LG definitely ran brighter and punchier, but the default color tone was quite different and I had a hard time matching them using the preset settings. Also, 1080p at 27 inches is going to look a little softer if you are used to higher density screens like a Retina display. The HDR mode was also pretty disappointing and did not add much depth or pop to the picture. At the end of the day, price is the big standout feature here. It is hard to find a 27-inch high refresh monitor from a recognized brand at this price point. It might not be a high-contrast, high-nit beast, but if you want something smooth for your gaming setup that gets the job done without breaking the bank, it is more than good enough. Oh and side note, I didn't get any weird ads or drivers installed with this product, which apparently had been a concern I'd read about with some LG monitors. ... show more

  • Love this G5 . Exceptional.
I've been very impressed with this monitor. Right out of the box, the image quality looked great, with vibrant colors, sharp text, and a clean, modern design. The ultra-thin bezels give it a premium appearance, and the stand has a small footprint that doesn't take up much desk space. Overall, it looks just as good turned off as it does while gaming. The biggest selling point is definitely the 200Hz refresh rate. Gameplay feels incredibly smooth, and the 1ms response time keeps motion crisp with very little blur or ghosting. Fast-paced shooters and racing games especially benefit from the higher refresh rate, making everything feel more responsive and fluid. The IPS panel also deserves a lot of credit. Colors are rich and accurate, viewing angles are excellent, and HDR10 adds a little extra depth to supported games and videos. It's a monitor that's just as enjoyable for browsing, watching YouTube, or editing photos as it is for gaming. One thing to keep in mind is that this is a 1080p display. If you're expecting the sharpness of a 1440p or 4K monitor, this obviously isn't that. Personally, I don't see it as a downside because I'd rather have the extremely smooth 200Hz refresh rate than a higher resolution, especially for competitive gaming. It also makes it much easier to consistently drive high frame rates without needing an extremely expensive graphics card. LG also packed in a lot of useful gaming features. G-SYNC Compatible and FreeSync Premium both worked perfectly, eliminating screen tearing during gameplay. Features like Black Stabilizer, the FPS counter, Crosshair mode, and the LG Switch software are all nice additions that make the monitor even more enjoyable to use. Build quality has been excellent as well. Everything feels solid, the tilt adjustment is smooth, and setup only took a few minutes. The menus are easy to navigate, and I had everything configured exactly how I wanted without any frustration. Overall, this is a fantastic gaming monitor and an excellent value for anyone who prioritizes speed and responsiveness. The combination of a fast 200Hz refresh rate, excellent IPS colors, low response time, and thoughtful gaming features makes it an easy five-star purchase. If you're shopping for a high-performance 1080p gaming monitor, I don't think you'll be disappointed. ... show more

  • Perfect budget esports monitor
This monitor checks all the boxes if you're into esports titles like fortnite, cs go, apex legends, call of duty, etc. Being 1080p means you don't need crazy high spec PC parts to run it well, and 200hz is plenty for quick response times and low motion blur. It's Asus so you know it's going to be a solid quality product. It has the usual Asus on screen software which covers all your tweaking bases, which are quick and easy to figure out. The screen itself has great colors since it's an IPS panel, which short of OLED is the best you can get, viewing angles are great too. I normally personally game on a 1440p panel, but in games I could hardly tell the difference, and I was getting way better FPS on this monitor at 1080p which is always welcome. Would absolutely recommend for anyone looking for the best bang for your buck esports/multiplayer monitor that you can also daily drive for regular PC tasks ... show more

  • Great high color monitor with an excellent display panel, UNREMOVABLE MONITOR ARM AFTER ATTACHING
This LG 27 inch full HP (1920x1080) IPS gaming monitor delivers on all aspect of quality and I the panel, even though is it only 1080P, is impressively bright and has excellent viewing angles. The 200hz refresh rate is excellent for fast FPS games, and even has features such as a center crosshair and an FPS overlay. Easy access controls with the center mounted joystick for quick access to video inputs, which range from 2 HDMI ports and one Display Port. The monitor does not have any speakers. But has a headphone jack located in the back. The colors that this monitor can achieve are very vibrant and features a SRGB of 99%, which I believe is accurate based on my usage with this monitor. Has HDR10, but I was not overly impressed with the inclusion of this setting. The display also has an excellent non-glare mate screen with excellent near borderless display. Quick 1MS response times also ensure that no ghosting is visible on the panel. Also support NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync for fantastic gaming experience. The monitor can be mounted with the inclusion of the VESA mount screws or with the included short pivot only stand. This is where the issues begin. As a reviewer I pay the most attention to how someone would use this monitor and this next part is where I can’t recommend this monitor due to a design flaw that is very troubling and according to my many conversations with LG support and engineers is not user correctable or undoable with destroying the monitor, thus damaging the product. It may be been designed this way to keep the costs down, I will never know. The monitor includes a small desk stand that can be attached to the lower back and sits on a metal plate for stability and weight. The stand is design to click into place on the back which when it attaches it produced a very resounding click, indicating it was secured in place. Next the metal plate can be easily screwed onto the bottom of the stand to complete the setup. The end result is a short, non-height adjustable monitor that can tilt a few degrees either forward or backwards. I discovered when opting to test how well this monitor worked on arm mounted VESA mount setup that the stand arm can’t be unattached from the back of the monitor. There will be no easy way to ever use this on a VESA mount, since the protruding arm does not allow any flush wall mounting and the monitor can’t be stood up or leaned against anything due to the arm prevents setting the monitor down level. The next serious issue with this lack over oversight with the design of the stand is that they monitor can no longer be placed back in its safe shipping box for a return or to mail in for any future repair, if ever necessary. With the unremovable stand this creates a product with a built in defect. If there was sticker or notice on the packaging that indicated if the stand was attached that no future access to the VESA mount would be possible it would have prevented this issue, since I would never have attached the stand. I essentially destroyed my monitor for any future use by following the provided instructions and attaching the stand and base, as a result this is major design flaw that creates an inherently disposable product. The documentation only going to attaching the stand and not detaching, when it becomes necessary. When you purchase a product with VESA hole on the back, you have a reasonable expectation that you can use them. If attaching the default stand permanently revokes that feature, that restriction must be stated before you click the parts together. This also creates a logistical nightmare since the monitor can’t be safely repackaged in its custom-molded styrofoam and box. This completely breaks the logistics of standard store returns, warranty mail-ins, or moving the monitor. The Verdict It’s an excellent monitor with fantastic controls, adjustment, screen brightness and clarity. A true gaming monitor with 1080P resolution, fantastic color gamut and everything looks crisp and sharp. This has all the hallmarks of an excellent LG product due to the consistency of the LED backlight and overall monitor panel quality. The specs, construction are all five stars for the price. The unremovable stand is the deal breaker and with that I can’t recommend this monitor based on the merit it is forever damaged when the stand is attached and is no longer removable. ... show more

  • Great Colors and an Incredibly Smooth Picture
I got this LG monitor to use as the main screen on my video-editing PC, and it’s been a good choice. The colors were the first thing that stood out — they look natural and true to life, which makes editing EMS training videos much easier. I performed a basic calibration during setup, although I’m not sure it really needed much adjustment because the picture already looked excellent out of the box. The picture is also comfortable to look at, and I haven’t experienced any eye strain even after long stretches of work. For a 27-inch 1080p monitor, everything looks impressively clean, and the 200Hz refresh rate makes movement exceptionally smooth. Setup was simple. The controls are easy to reach, and navigating the settings didn’t feel like a chore. The included stand feels stable during normal use on my desk, and the monitor can also be mounted if I decide to use a monitor arm later. I’ve been using it every day, and the picture has remained sharp, bright, and consistent. Although this is marketed as a gaming monitor, it has also been an excellent monitor for video editing and everyday work. If you’re looking for something with good color, smooth motion, and a picture that remains comfortable during long sessions, this has been great for me. Five stars for the quality, ease of set up and the price. ... show more
