I have a 28½ ft boat Was at the upper limit of feet per gauge ratio.. so I upped wire gauge higher than recommended by one gauge, and used silver tined (ant-icorrode)copper wearing.. This thing has worked perfect for a 28½ft 5000lbs boat. One of the keys to a long-lasting windless is tie your anchor line off after you've dropped the anchor. do not let the line tug at the windlass morter.. ever! ... show more

WOW! works great. great price. I feel that the anti reverse plastic stop will deteriorate since it is in the sun everyday. Almost perfect fit with old Simpson-Lawrance deck mount cut-out.

    • Failed in 2 years. Lewmar refusing warranty
Bought it 2019, It quit in 2021. I’ve never used it to hold the boat at anchor, always tie off to the cleat, and never use it to pull the boat. It started making a grinding and clunking noise pulling up the anchor. It won’t hold just the weight of the rope rode and anchor. First thing I checked was the clutch, it’s tight. I bought it new from Amazon. I reached out to Lewmar for warranty as it’s advertised with a 5 year warranty. They told me it had to be sold by a Lewmar dealer and are denying me a warranty claim. Nowhere in the warranty does it say it must be sold by a Lewmar dealer, distributor, etc to be covered by warranty. Haven’t been able to reach Amazon for help. Will never buy another Lewmar product and am skeptical about buying costly items from Amazon in the future. UPDATE Reached Amazon, explained the situation, Amazon made it right and accepted a return for a full refund. Thank you Amazon. ... show more

This was the first time, I ever owned a windless. Always had to pull anchor by hand. A lot older now this is going to be sweet to use. Done a lot of research on this item and really wanted this one and have already installed it on my boat. Can not wait to use it for the first time. Exactly as described, instructions very clear and helpful. Had to call customer service, and was pleased with the fast answer. Wasn't anything wrong with the item, it was my misunderstanding of one of the wires in the diagram of the wiring. ... show more
