  • Perfect for controlling Kitty Litter dust
Style: LV-H133
I’m writing this review for cat owners. I live in a condo and have two cats - therefore two litter pans. I use 99.99% “dust free” litter, which is a joke. I spent several days researching air purifiers, looking for one that does the job, has a CADR rating over 300, uses a true HRPA 3-stage filter, does NOT use an ionizer process, is quiet, has an auto setting, has a high energy rating, indicates air quality, and doesn’t break the bank. I read a lot of reviews, checked the EPA website, California’s safety website, Business insider, Wired, consumer reports, and read people’s review. I ordered a different air purifier and retuned it, so this has been a process. I finally decided on this LEVOIT LV-H133. I’ve been running this for a day and I love it. I keep it in the room with the kitty litter. When I first turned it on, the air indicator was green (good), then after about 5 minutes of running turned blue (very good). When I scooped out the poop and pee lumps in the litter boxes, the air indicator turned red (bad air) and it took about 10 minutes before it was back to blue. This morning when one of the cats did his business and then buried it, the indicator turned red, but within about 2 minutes it was back to blue. I’m using the auto mode so I can turn it on and forget about it. When a cat uses the litter box, the fan automatically ramps up for a couple of minutes and then goes back to sleep mode. This was exactly what I was looking for. The highest speed on the fan is loud, but medium and low are not loud at all, more like a gentle background hum - less noise than our refrigerator, and sleep mode is silent. So far I love this unit because it works. If anything changes, I’ll update this review. Update: I found one issue. When running in auto mode, if the air is dust free, the fan runs on its lowest speed. But if there is an odor in the room, this doesn’t trigger the fan to increase speed. The fan only increases when air quality (I.e. dust) increases. For me this isn’t an issue. I just switch to manual mode for a few minutes to clear the odor. ... show more

  • Get it - It works and I own pets, use a fire place, family has allergies, etc
Style: LV-H134
I usually don't write a lot of reviews, but I usually do when I'm really happy or impressed with a product. So as you might imagine, I like this filter a lot and recommend it. I got this product for a few different reasons: - My family got COVID-19 My boyfriend was having an extremely hard time breathing, which actually prompted him to be hospitalized for a little over a week. I got this to help with the pet dander, dust, and pollen floating around. - We own 2 dogs that shed a lot more than I thought (of course, right?) - We have a 6 month old baby and I want the air as clean as possible for him - We live in Western Washington and while we don't typically have a lot of wild fires near us... we had a really rough year with that and we almost had to evacuate because there were so many nearby fires. The air was so bad and difficult to breath. Also, we usually get residual smoke from fires in Canada to the north, fires from California to the south, and fires from Eastern Washington. - We have a fireplace that we use A LOT in the winter as it is our primary heat source to save on electricity - Unintended reason: mold. We had a pipe leak that flooded our crawl space and that may be festering mold (not our year). Of course, we are in the middle of having everything repaired and replaced, but there is a good chance there is mold I got this size for the main floor in my home and I got the smaller size (LEVOIT Air Purifier for Home Allergies and Pets Hair Smokers in Bedroom, H13 True HEPA Filter, 24db Filtration System Cleaner Odor Eliminators, Remove 99.97% Dust Smoke Mold Pollen, Core 300, White) for my bedroom. I'll touch a little on what I think about the two different models. So, what I really like about this product is: - Well it works! I did a test (see photos) where I had my fireplace going and left the door slightly ajar. Immediately, the colored ring around the edge turned bright red and the μg/m^3 went up like crazy in the 90's or greater (not pictured because I went to go find my phone). It quickly and gradually started to go down and the colors around the edge started to change based on the μg/m^3. It's definitely not a deal breaker, but I do really like the changing color aspect because it can catch your eye if you're not expecting the air quality to be bad. - It's light weight Like I said, we had COVID... so I was being extra cautious and carrying this to our bedroom every night to make sure the air was as clean as possible. I'm not a super buff individual, but I'm also not weak. But this was easy to carry. I could hold it with one arm if I really wanted to light. It is just a bit long/ big, so you need to be cautious about wacking things when you're carrying it. I have a picture of my boston terrier in front of the filter, so you can get a better feeling on the size of the product. - I like the wheels at the bottom for maneuverability It's just nice when I'm trying to move in a different place, especially when I have a baby and I have a bazillion large toys around like jumpers, toys to learn how to walk, etc. - It's quiet It's honestly not loud and I don't really notice too much when we watch TV and such. There are different fan settings and the lowest and the middle setting are quiet and hardly noticeable. You will notice the noise for sure on the highest setting Pretty much the only dislike is that I wish the power cord was a big longer. It is roughly 5 feet long, but I wish it was closer to 10 feet because you don't want obstructions around the filter, so it usually is best in the middle of the room. Quick commentary on the difference between this filter and the aforementioned smaller size: - The smaller size doesn't have wheels or list the particulate matter concentrations (μg/m^3). I'm unsure whether the color band changes color like the bigger model. - The smaller size is also light weight and quiet. - Because the smaller size is only about a foot tall, it works best on a side table or something elevated to help suck in the air. I feel like if it's on the floor in a bedroom, there will be a lot of obstructions and I'm not sure how effective it will be. - Overall, the smaller size is also a good choice if you're only concerned for a bedroom or something similar. But for the extra $200, I think the bigger size is worth it for the extra perks and how much extra space it filters the air (it's meant for a really large room or even for the house). ** I know many people have mentioned this... but just in case... You need to take the plastic off from around the product, but also you need to take the filter out from inside by opening the back and take the product off from the actual filter. I think a lot of reviews who say it is super loud did not take the plastic off from the filter that is actually inside of the product ** ... show more
