  • Affordable Leupold scope for the AR platform
This is the scope I chose for an AR15. I had narrowed down my choices between a low powered variable scope and a red dot. I went with this scope because of all the positive features and not having to worry about batteries or my astigmatism. I wanted an optic that was high quality, lightweight, had clear glass and would not cost too much. Leupold did this with the Freedom scope line. My experience with this scope was positive and some details are listed below. Adjustments- The power dial was easy to adjust, the turret adjustments for windage and elevation while soft, were adequate and stayed put once zeroed. I prefer these capped turret adjustments vs. the more expensive Leupold AR scope with exposed dials. I personally am not making adjustments after my zero is set. Optic clarity- Even with the small diameter objective there was more than enough light that came through and the glass was clear. The duplex reticle was large enough to see quickly but did not obstruct the target. At all power levels I could leave both eyes open and make hits. My AR set up with a fixed front sight. On 1.5 power you can see a ghosting of the front sight in the very bottom of the scope. It might be distracting if you are sitting around looking through it, but on the range I did not have time to notice it. At higher magnification it was not even visible. Eye relief was adequate and paired with the right mount, easy to set on the rifle. Durability- It can hold up to the 5.56 round easily. I only used for target shooting but Leupold's warrant is lifetime if I happen to drop and break it. Mount Compatibility- I paired this scope with an Aero Precision Ultralight 1" Standard Scope Mount. It gave enough height to clear a Magpul backup sight and enough room to adjust on the top rail to find the right spot for the scope. Overall I am very happy with this scope. Perfect for my static bench rest range deployments. ... show more

  • Really love this sight
Style: Pig-Plex (174177)
Was my first ever leupold last year and I had it on my 30-06. Held on pretty good now itโ€™s going on my ak. No problems at all

  • Good scope
Style: VX-Freedom
For me it is a local product, I have one I've had a couple of years as a 22LR scope and just bought this one for a new rifle. 200 yards is stretching the useful limits of the 4x but for me on the 100 yard guns it works good. The optics are clear and the scope is compact. I recommend it for this kind of use. The first one I got came with lens covers, this one did not, maybe cost cutting? You will want lens covers. ... show more

  • Great value
Style: Pig-Plex (174177)
Just mounted this scope onto my RDB, using a Weaver SPR mount. This is my first Leupold scope. The glass clarity and sharpness is incredible. The eyebox is great and the ocular ring is barely visible while looking through it. I'm astonished by the weight. It doesn't throw off the balance of the rifle. Fit and finish are what's to be expected from Leupold. The only drawback I can see out of the box is the turrets. They are terrible. I suspect that this is where the cost savings are made. There is barely any feel to the adjustment and the clicks are nearly imperceptible. I doubt this is a scope you'll be adjusting between shots after zero. I haven't shot it yet but I'm sure there won't be much to report in terms of accuracy, or lack thereof, after zeroing. *If* a problem were to arise after a range session, I will update accordingly. My bottom line; I don't think the nasty turrets warrant removing a star so I'll rate it a 5. ... show more

  • Used on a 450 bm
Style: VX-Freedom
The marks on the reticle are very useful for estimating the drop with a subsonic load. Very crisp and clear glass, all of the adjustments are positive and thereโ€™s no tapping it to make sure it adjusts correctly. With some other scopes you might have to shoot once to sort of โ€œbumpโ€ it into its adjustment, this is not that way, you click, it moves no questions asked. ... show more

  • What a nice scope...
My first Leupold scope... What a nice scope. Build is solid. Glass is clear and little to no fishbowl effect at the 1.5x setting. Duplex reticle is simple, easy to pick up, and super crisp. A nice feature that I wasn't expecting is the diopter has a locking feature that I don't have on any of my other optics. The zoom was a little gritty on the first turn, but it has been smooth since. My guess is there was some grease on the threads that hadn't been worked all the way through yet. This is an initial review, because haven't been able to take it to the range yet (stoopid COVID-19). If you don't see an update on this from my range trip, then you can assume that Leupold has held true to it's reputation. I will only update if, for some reason, it gives a disappointing performance at the range. So far, I have nothing but good things to say about the Leupold VX-Freedom 1.5-4 x 20mm Rifle Scope and I would 100% reccomend it to anyone that asks. ... show more

  • Great service! Wish I got a more powerful scope now.
Style: VX-Freedom
Iโ€™m happy with the quality of the product. I wish that I had gotten a more powerful scope now. I got a 1.5-4 and should of gotten a 2-7 or 3-9 power. Happy with the service and delivery!

  • Over all nice scope for the money.
Style: Pig-Plex (174177)
Received the scope promptly after ordering it. Optics are clear and adjustments do what they supposed to do. Construction seems a little more bulking and slightly on the cheaper side than what Iโ€™m used to from a Leupold scope. I like the pig plex reticle as it seems to pin point the impact area better than typical crosshairs. Durability remains to be seen but will update after Iโ€™ve used it awhile. Bought it at a SALE price, would not pay retail. Over all nice scope for the money. ... show more
