I'm addicted to stationery. Pens, paper, markers, pencils, stickers, notepads. All of it. I've tried a whole bunch. The LEUCHTTURM1917 is a great notebook, no doubt. The paper is smooth and ink dries quickly on it. The pages are numbered, curved at the corner (this keeps the notebook from ending up with tiny, non-intentional dog ears from use). The dot grid is light enough to not get in the way of your writing or sketching or Bullet Journal designs (if you're into the the BJ inspo out there. I used to be.) For the price, you can't really do better. There not much bleeding (unless you're using Sharpie or any other alcohol-based marker -- forget about those), but there is a hell of a lot of ghosting, and that drives me a little bonkers. 80gsm will do that. If you want less ghosting, look for books with over 120gsm. But for your every day journaler, this will do. ... show more

These notebooks are great. I dont know why, but between the softcover and hardcover,but the softcover has slightly worse paper. The binding on both the books are excellent and it can take a beating,but dont leave it in a very hot place or direct sunlight because they will warp. The warping could only be the hardcover though. I love these notebooks and for the price its well worth it. Everytime i buy one i just want to fill it up and end up using them in about a month, but that also depends on how much i write. Usually i get about 3 month of journaling everyday. The notebook has beautiful paper and is very fountain friendly. The fountain pen ink sheens and you can see the shine of the glitter inks. I love this notebook, but i love the midori md notebooks more and they are half the price with higher quality paper. This notebook is great for project planning and i mainly use it for journaling my thoughts. The unlinked version i use for notes about everything. Get this notebook you wont be disappointed and tey the midori md notebook to just make sure to buy a cover for it. ... show more

I really wanted to love this journal. I had been reading so many bullet journal blogs that talked about how wonderful this journal was. And it does have great features: Three Contents pages, numbered pages, 27 dots across (26 columns) and 39 dots down (38 rows), two ribbon book marks, and a gusseted pocket in the back. Love all of these! I was very excited to start using this journal that I had put off buying for a couple years, opting for cheaper ones as they were more affordable for me. I finally decided to buy the Berry colored journal with a birthday gift card. SO beautiful! However, once I started writing in the journal I immediately noticed that my pen was ghosting. I normally use a Pilot Precise V5 RT pen when writing, and a black Staedtler Fineliner for tracing lines. I kept on writing for a couple of pages before deciding that the ghosting was going to be a real issue for me. I do not like seeing the shadow of my writing on the opposite side of the pages. I didn't want to get rid of this journal either, since I had just used my birthday gift card on it. I figured I could deal with some ghosting if I used a lighter pen. The Lisa Larson Xeno Baby Mikey .38mm pen works fine with--some ghosting but not much--and instead of using highlighters I am using a Pentel Arts 8 Color Automatic color pencil. I stopped trying to make fancier more colorful pages and have gone to a more minimalist style for now. It's my fault for getting excited about finally ordering a Leuchtturm 1917 and not really stopping to read and notice the very obviously stated 80gsm paper. It does say it is acid-free paper with high ink compatibility to help reduce bleedthrough, and I would say that is accurate as the pens aren't actually bleeding through to the other side. If you have a heavy hand, or you don't like ghosting, this may not be a journal you'd be interested in purchasing. ... show more

Overall, the quality of this book is amazing. Leuchttrum 1917s are almost always my go to for my bullet journals and book journals. When I opened this one though, I realized the paper seemed thinner than usual. I'm not one to return items, even if I don't like them so I told myself I'll just deal with it, and while I can, the ghosting is INSANE. The bleed through isn't bad at all, but I can see what I've drawn on the opposite side of each page. I haven't had this issue with my previous Leuchttrums, so I'm not sure if it's just this edition, or what. ... show more

It is sturdy and beautiful. The paper quality is excellent, I donโ€™t have any bleeding through from my pens. Plus the paper just feels smooth to the touch. I use notebooks all the time and these are my favorite!
