Appears to be very well done. The neck fits snug in the cavity, that's good. I'll probably replace the pickups but I'll try them first. The neck seems to be well made nice and straight. I'll know more when I assemble it. Guitar is assembled. I'll need to do some work on the fret ends which is expected in the price range, no big deal. The Guitar went together fairly easily. All the wiring was pre-assembled, no soldering needed, I liked that. The pickups sound alright. It needed a little filing on a couple of frets but now it has super low action, that's nice. Love the guitar now, but it took quite a bit of work to get it playable. This is my 6th kit and was my toughest challenge yet. I initially used the stock wiring but found a noisy ground issue after tap testing the Artec hunbuckers I just installed. I initially thought it was a ground issue with the bridge which is a common issue, but later found the clipped in long bridge volume pot jumper wire to the switch was bad with the help of a multimeter. I soldered in vintage cloth covered hot and ground wires from the bridge volume pot to the switch which fixed the problem. It was a pain because I had to remove the humbuckers so it was a little time consuming. So then I checked the neck and frets- yikes. I found 11 high frets so had no choice but to level, crown, and polish every single fret on the fretboard. I also decided to put in larger pots with orange capacitors, but the bridge tone pot was too large and was touching the jack. I had to put the smaller tone pot back. So this kit was quite a challenge but plays incredibly well now. Mahogany body adds warmth and body. I’ve built other Leo Jaymz kits with zero problems so this odds are was a quality control issue. So happy with the guitar despite a few speed bumps so to speak. ... show more

Best detailed instructions on assembly. No belly curve, so I added one. Took it and had fret work done and proper set up. Did upgrade tuners to locking. I would suggest at least upgrade tuners and setup. It is light. I think a real one can weigh around seven pounds. This one was around 3 or 4 lbs I can’t remember exactly. I really enjoy playing it. I wasn't expecting perfection by any means, but the bridge pickup does not work at all on mine. Also, my volume and tone knobs are opposite of what they should be. (Toggle in neck position uses bridge position controls.) Assembled according to instructions. Not a big deal. I can swap things around but its just a nuisance. The bridge pickup being dead is what really bothers me. Tuners are poor, as expected. Frets need a lot of work. Overall, fun to build. However, I won't buy another. ... show more

I have purchased several of these kits and typically the product is sound and worth the money. Well, this one was a complete dud. I meticulously put the electronics in the guitar tested the entire circuits and once the screws went on to the back panels...that's when the issues started. in and out of sound...worked then would work. I took it apart 3 times and no go! I also sent 3 emails to the company and they didn't even answer 1 of them. my recommendation...buy someone else's kits! ... show more

I didn’t expect much - I just wanted a Iceman Ibanez body - and I’m perfectly fine with the bolt on neck - it never hurt Fender- but what I achieved with this DIY kit was unimaginable- strap locks and strap to boot - it took me an hour to out together- I wanted it totally naked - no painting or oil - it plays great and low out out himbuckers are like P90s - you can’t lose at this price point!!!!!     • MUST KNOW ABOUT SETUP AND ADJUSTMENTS!!!

Purchased for eventual upgrades and finish. DEFINETLY NOT for the beginner, or someone with little to no experience with adjusting action, truss rods, intonation, and other subtle nuances that make a guitar playable. Pickups and pots are acceptable, and action is good when adjusted. Body and neck are in nice order as far as feel and fit. No fret tang or barbs to deal with. And, with a light sanding, the body will not be so "rough" feeling. Everything took about 90 minutes to assemble, then another 90 adjusting and tweeking. As stated, Upgrades are coming after the holidays. But, overall, very happy with the guitar as it sits now. ... show more
