  • Looks great! Needed better quality strings to stay in tune.
Color: US Flag
I got the American flag version and the guitar looks great, but it wouldn't stay tuned for anything with the original strings. After I replaced them with Ernie Balls it made a world of difference. I think these guitars are of a different quality than they were a few years ago, because I saw a YouTube video reviewing them and the guy said it was kinda heavy. Well, mine is anything but heavy weighing only 5 lbs 10 ozs. This doesn't affect the sound much, because it still sounds pretty darn good, but it is worth noting. The neck is straight with no fret buzz despite a pretty low action and feels really comfortable with no sharp fret ends. The single coil pickups have the traditional Strat sounds, but the humbucker is really hot and does high gain metal sounds quite well. With new strings and a little setup, I think this is a great guitar for young beginners due to the light weight. And it's also really good for older players who just want to add to their collection, because it's cheap and looks so darned cool! It also included a thin gig bag, black guitar strap, amp cable, extra set of crappy strings and matching American flag themed 20 watt practice amplifier, which sounds better than I expected and is quite loud when turned up. Overall this set is quite a bargain and quite playable after new strings and a setup. ... show more

  • PRETTY GOOD. ACTUALLY
Color: US Flag
Needed a good setup with new strings. Otherwise? Very good. Not quite as good as a strat... But not bad. And better than a few actual Strats I've owned. Pickups are surprisingly good. Tuning pegs are just OK. Neck and frets are decent. Finish is excellent. Certainly worth the money.

Wow Leo Jaymz guitar made it to Grand Rapids Michigan alright x3. The 4 star rating is for free shipping. If you packed it in anther box and not just the guitar box by itself it would be 5 star.

  • Cool looking guitar.
Arrived in good condition. Just as described. Love the wild neon yellow mat finish. It will need a setup. Neck was dead straight. But fret ends could use a little Attention. With a file. The short of it. It's a good guitar. I bought it, with the intentions of modding it. New electronics Floyd rose rail tail tremolo. And some genuine Fender vintage noiseless pickups. Yes I would buy again. It's worth the $129.00 dollars. OH I forgot about the little Amp. It looked ok nicely built. I never tried it out though. I don't need it. I already have a Fender champion 100. So I Gave the Amp to my niece. She has a Ibanez acoustic electric guitar. She's learning to play on. But didn't have a amp. ... show more

  • Fantastic Looks, Smooth Playability
Color: US Flag
I have been playing guitar for 10+ years and wanted to add a Stratocaster with a tremolo to the arsenal. I previously sold my Mexican Strat with Texas Special pickups and some other mid-level guitars to buy a high-end Telecaster and a professional-level Guild acoustic. With little left in the guitar budget, I took a chance on the Leo Jaymz ST and am so glad I did. The guitar arrived double-boxed and inside a very cheap gig bag that might be used as a trash can liner--well, it's a little better than a Hefty bag with a handle and zipper, but not much. As a consequence, the reveal was the more dramatic: out of that flimsy black sack slipped a virtually flawless objet d'art with Old Glory emblazoned on the body. This guitar looks fantastic. There were just a few minor finishing details that went wrong: the black paint on the face of the headstock is a tad uneven at one edge where the natural maple meets it. The pickup cutouts are slightly rough in some areas, but these details are hardly noticeable and do not affect playability or sound. The ST came set up perfectly well to my liking--medium to low action, and there is not a fret buzz to be found anywhere. Intonation is perfect. The neck is smooth, the frets are filed nicely, and all the switches and electronics perform well. The pickups are not super high output, but they sound good. I got some nice jazzy tones on my tube amp by selecting the neck pickup and turning down the tone control. The humbuckers in the bridge were great for some overdriven AC/DC riffs. The combinations in-between aren't bad, either. It comes strung with very light strings "for beginners," the company advertises. Indeed this is one thing I will change, adding .10 gauge or higher, and this will undoubtedly improve what is pretty fair tone as it is. I like this guitar for a beginner because it is easy to fret notes and sounds at least as good as Mexican Strat. Experienced guitarists on a budget can't go wrong, either. Would I rather have a made in America Fender Strat--of course, I would! But the days of paying $800-$1000 for a MIM Strat are over for me, since I can get this quality from Leo Jaymz for around $170, including tax and shipping. ... show more

  • Great guitar for the price!
Color: US Flag
It’s a pretty good all around guitar for the price. It’s well made and the Flag design is awesome! The Amp is at best O.K.. I had to buy another cable, the one that came with it, is Junk. Lot of static/buzzing. So, the only thing I don’t like is the static/buzz/hum when I try to turn up the gain any. I’m gonna order a “Hum Eliminator” and try that. ... show more

  • Very dissatisfied considering my previous LJ purchases
Color: US Flag
Amp is cute, and doesn't sound too bad, once I took off the back and remounted the main transformer, which had ripped out it's screws in transit. Guitar was great looking in the box, but the body is obviously cheap basswood, the tuners are terrible, and the back of the neck is raw wood. I expect some players like raw wood necks, but not at this grit, and my experience is your hand oil stains the wood. One layer of a thin finish makes it feel raw, but butter smooth. This is sanded maybe to 150 grit. Lastly, the guitar weighs about 5 lbs. And whatever Chinese factory is pumping these out, they are nothing like the two previous Leo Jaymz I bought previously. They have lost a customer... ... show more
