Overall a nice looking piece of furniture. Unfortunately it is a little flimsy in parts and chipped easily during assembly. Thankfully, it was on the back and doesn't show. The finished product has received compliments. We also purchased a matching end table/night stand by the same company and that was much more solid. I would probably buy this again. While the shipping box was a bit beat up, contents were in perfect condition due to good packing materials! All parts intact and present. Purchased to replace an ugly sheet rock pony wall which divides my entry/dining/living rooms. Other furnishings are Mission style, including antiques and new pieces; eventually I hope to clad the columns with stained wood. ... show more

This is a nice looking piece of mission furniture at a decent price. There's actually a little real wood in it, not just pressed composition board. I wanted to really like this corner bookcase because it looks so nice in my office. But, the negatives outweigh the positives. It arrived promptly. All pieces were present, including the screws and allen wrench. As other reviewers have mentioned, however, the minute the box was opened, the smell of the stain filled the room -- and remained for several days. Pretty potent. Assembly was a pain south of my waist. The instructions stink (also), and my (very average sized) fingers had a hard time fitting into the small spaces to screw in the hardware with the primitive allen wrench provided. It's a two-person job, for sure. It is not a particularly stable piece of furniture. The company provides a really dippy set of screws to put into your wall to make sure the unit does not topple forward. I would not trust them. So, it's attractive and didn't cost an arm and a leg, but I wish I would have bought a unit that was, perhaps, not quite so attractive but also was less odoriferous, easier to assemble and sturdier. ... show more
