  • Can't go wrong with the these LEGO games
Platform For Display: PLAYSTATION 3 Edition: Standard
For reference, this review is coming long after this game has come out. I have owned every single one of these LEGO game. From the first "Lego Star Wars: the video game" for ps2 to the most recent "Lego Pirates of the Caribbean" for the ps3, they are all fantastic! (I also have Lego Harry Potter years 5 -7 wrapped for Christmas) These are some of the few games that the whole family can play together(and enjoy). Myself, my wife(both 34 y.o.), two sons(now 4 and 9 y.o.), and nieces and nephews(between 3 and 13) all love to play these games. Having said all of that, this game in particular is not the best of them, but still very good. Most of the game is based on the 4th movie in the franchise(the worst one). Also, the levels of each section also get very formulaic and repetitive. We all enjoyed playing it, got near 100% completion, then moved on to the next game. If you have played other games in the LEGO movie franchise and enjoyed them, you will enjoy this one as well. If this would be your first LEGO video game, don't base your judgemnt of the series on this lone title. There are better ones out there. At this point, if you can get this game used on the cheap, it won't be a waste of time or money. ... show more

  • Good, but not as Good as the first one...
Platform For Display: PLAYSTATION 3 Edition: Standard
If you have the first Lego Indy, this is a totally new game that still includes the first three movies. And they are not mini-levels - there is plenty to do here. In fact if you don't have the first game, this will totally suffice for people who are "Jonesing" for an Indy game. (GET IT?... Indiana "JONES".. aw man...I am hilarious) Anyway, my son and I played this game and beat it... well sort of. It used to be that if you got 100% on all the levels, you got 100% on the game. Not this time. Now you have to master the level editor tutorials as well and frankly we didn't care about that part of the game. It's a nice feature, but I don't know how interested people are in designing their own lego levels. Another thing that bugged me was that there was no "free play" like you would suspect. This time after you beat the story you go back into the level and it has changed to a puzzle mode. Plus you can't cycle through several characters in this one. The puzzle games are locked down to specific characters. The only place you can be a desired character is in the hub. My son and I played the Pirates of the Caribbean game before this one, so I am glad they went back to the older familiar system - personally I still like the original set up where you can purchase all your upgrades and people from a central store. My hands down favorite is still the original STAR WARS trilogy. No other Lego game since has captured my attention span, been as fun or as funny. Pirates is probably my second favorite and Batman my least. All in all it was still tons of fun, and being an Indy fan I can't complain. I'd still recommend it to anyone who has been a fan of the lego franchise, just don't expect the same ol that you have been used to. ... show more

  • Different from original, but still very fun!
Platform For Display: PLAYSTATION 3 Edition: Standard
The main difference is the layout. You now have several hubs with each one being centered around a particular Indy movie, three hubs for the Crystal Skull, one for the Super Bonus levels and a Creator Hub. It takes a little getting used to at first, but once you understand the layout it is easy to work with. The new split screen effect for two players is great! I can't say enough about it. I often play with my kids and I love not fighting over who is going which way in the screen. The only time I find it awkward is during some of the flying races. Free play has changed and is now tucked away in the Creator hub. It took me a while to find it and get the hang of it, but it is fun too. You can choose two players to play along with the basic two players the level plays with during the Story mode, so you get four players to play the level with. The Level Builder is amazing. I found it very entertaining after spending a little while in it. We have encountered a couple of freezes, but nothing long term that has caused us much grief, just a quick restart of the game. They have really spread things out in this episode, but it all works out for a really good time. My kids and I all love playing this game and have almost finished it to 100% percent. ... show more

  • Pure enjoyment!
Platform For Display: PLAYSTATION 3 Edition: Standard
When this game was announced I thought it would be a cheap revision of the first one (that was pretty good by the way). I thought it would be the first game with an additional hub for Crystal Skull movie, but NO! The game was made from scratch, with a much improved game engine. It's not so driven by the movie stories like the first one, but it freed the game developers to produce a serious LEGO madness... Indy style! The co-op was improved as well, and now you and your partner can work on different parts of the stage without distance limitations, and that increases the fun in co-op play a lot. In short, Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues, is a great game for both Indy and LEGO franchises. ... show more

I am an adult and I love LEGOS. Having LEGO video games for your favorite Movies or even other game crossovers is bonus! These LEGO games follow a more family friendly version of the source material, plenty of comical jabs and are really fun. Nothing like Destroying other Lego characters and more pieces fly out than what holds them together! The local co-op makes it fun for friends and families to play together. ... show more

  • It's Different, So What?
Platform For Display: PLAYSTATION 3 Edition: Standard
Gamers' reactions to videogames are generally universal. Most people agree on the great classics, agree on the godawful messes that plagued our memories, and forget about those in-between titles that slip through the cracks. Then, there are games like "LEGO Indiana Jones 2", where the reviews are quite mixed. The general consensus seems to be, "If you love the LEGO games, you might like this game, but not love it." That's a fair statement, however, I have to admit that I enjoyed this game a lot for what it is. I think the concept of the game has confused and disappointed some of the critics and naysayers. Here's the deal: The first three Indiana Jones movies were already faithfully covered in the 1st LEGO Indy game. Was there any real reason for there to be a follow-up game? Not really, even though it gave us a chance to play through some levels inspired by the 4th movie. So, since Traveller's Tales and LucasArts felt obligated to recreate the 4th chapter, why not try something new? A lot of reviewers have tried to explain how "LEGO Indiana Jones 2" works, so I'll give it a try. Basically, every one of these recent LEGO games starts with a Hub, which is basically a couple of rooms serving as the menu. Each Hub had a room for buying characters, for choosing your missions, and for few other simple tasks. When you picked a level, you'd have to navigate large rooms with plenty of secrets to find. Now, that formula has been reversed for "LEGO Indy 2". Here, the missions themselves are just one room with some quick obstacles, and the Hub is the monstrous area with all the secrets and puzzles. In other words, the main menu of the game is where you'll spend most of your time, where the individual missions are bite-sized bits of action. If you already hate this concept, then stay away from "LEGO Indy 2". The Star Wars, Batman, and previous Indiana Jones games were all faithful-yet-exaggerated recreations of some beloved characters with a somewhat cohesive story. But this 2nd Indiana Jones game doesn't even try to take the story seriously. It's a gloriously over-the-top collection of WTF moments. If I described any of the cutscenes to you, you'd swear that I wasn't reviewing an Indiana Jones game. "LEGO Indiana Jones 2" is going to be loved by those who enjoyed the gameplay and puzzles more than the nostalgia. If you thought the other LEGO games were awesome simply because they let you revisit some popular movies, then this sequel isn't for you. However, if you just love to break things, collect all those bolts, finish those silly puzzles, and unlock & create all sorts of ridiculous crap, then "LEGO Indiana Jones 2" will be a blast to play. I really like this game, once I understood what it was meant to be. "LEGO Indiana Jones 2" is more of a reinvention or rebirth, rather than a reenactment. This is probably the first LEGO videogame that depends on the gameplay more than the movie license. I love these games, so I dug this unusual sequel. If you want faithful adaptations, skip it. ... show more

  • Not just a kid's game
Platform For Display: PLAYSTATION 3 Edition: Standard
I purchased this game because my 5 yr old grandson borrowed it from the public library and instantly took to it. Once it was in the house, however, my husband took over, and now they're both playing the game. It's not as easy as the "Lego" leads you to believe! For those who have played Lego games previously, many of the actions are very much the same, so the learning curve is not huge. But the story, characters and basic structure of the game are different, and will hold your interest for hours and hours. I'm not sure how long it will take my guys to solve the entire game, but they've been working at it for about three months now, and still have a long way to go. Considering the price of these games, it's nice to have one that holds everyone's interest and is not easy to finish! I highly recommend for ages 5 to 99! ... show more
