  • Great for kids
My son has been begging for this game forever! However since it's the PS3 they don't have carry it in many stores, purchasing on Amazon was very easy and it got here quickly the game itself is pretty cool the portal is interesting the fact they have to build the characters is really cool because if you build them a different way they enter is totally different character so it kind of allows you to "master build" which is awesome for any Lego fan. We have had it for less than 24 hours and my son cannot put it down he's already asking for extension packs. I am very pleased with my purchase. ... show more

  • If you are a fan of LEGO games, you need this.
I bought this as an xmas gift for my 8 year old son (and myself, kinda), and he loves it. The LEGO games in general are something he and I like to play together, so getting a set/game that is not only more interactive, but also expandable was right up our alley. Since picking this up, we've added a level pack, a team pack, and 2 fun packs - and have no intentions of slowing down any time soon. Love this game, and all the new playable "dimensions" that it brings together. ... show more

  • It's not you... it's me.
Lego Dimensions is a vast offering of from the Lego games universe and chock full of secrets and content. Our household has probably played 75% or more of the Travelers Tales catalog with the Lord of the Rings and the Marvel Superheroes being the most recent favorites. The different "dimensions" are beautifully rendered with many having their own distinct style and look which really does feel like worlds are colliding. The building element is innovative (my kids eagerly assembled the pieces), and the portal itself is more essential to gameplay and necessary for solving puzzles to progress through story levels as is are vehicles (the batmobile that comes with the game is the only vehicle required to beat the story mode). On a difficulty level, the game feels more challenging than previous Lego games and might require a little more effort and thought. We have had the game a little over a month now and have made it through the first 5 or 6 story levels and the Simpson's open world (purchased separately through a level pack) so I have not explored the game to it's full potential, nor have we expanded our collection further. But that's where things get a little odd. None of us in our family are dying to beat the game or get more characters, as a matter of fact we have not played the game in a good two weeks or more. Is it because the gameplay mechanics feel a little flat and character abilities are too similar to Dimensions predecessors (i.e. somebody can melt gold bricks, another might be able to grapple, or use electricity), or because completing all the extras in the game requires a SIGNIFICANT amount of separate purchases? Compared to Marvel Superheroes which gave you so many characters and immense open world for a minimal cost, Lego Dimensions feels a little money hungry riding on the success of Skylanders and Disney Infinity. I would have been happier to pay one price to have just the digital Lego characters on screen and none of the physical toys. Since we are already heavily invested in the Skylanders franchise and will continue with this year's Superchargers our commitment level to Dimensions will have to wait until the excitement of other game options die down. Until then I wonder if we have just outgrown the Lego video game world, but I hope not. ... show more

  • We like it, but prefer to play the regular Lego ...
We like it, but prefer to play the regular Lego games like Batman 2 & 3, Marvel Superheroes, and Avengers. Lego dimensions is so involved, you have to sit near the platform because you constantly have to switch people around to complete certain tasks - which is complicated even for me who is savvy with video games. It's certainly not a game in which my 5 year old can just play by himself without my help. Plus you need like a million characters to fulfill certain tasks. Also, the rollout for new characters and worlds has been really slow. My son also likes Disney Infinity better, which has better characters and is easier for him to play. Each level on this game takes forever to complete, so unless you have over an hour to kill, don't even bother turning it on. The updates take forever as well. Overall, it's ok. ... show more

  • Happy huge hit with our son on his birthday
Happy huge hit with our son on his birthday! Our 12 year old is a huge Dr. Who fan and wanted to get Lego Dimensions for his birthday. We purchased the starter kit from Amazon who also had the best price from all my searches. The packaged arrived early which was great for me, knew it was here and no longer had to worry. Son has played this since the day of his birthday on the 4th of March. Nice thing is there chart inside the starter kit which has all the power up and addition to this kit. I love this idea for this way at holidays I have ideas right there in front of me knowing which ones he has and which ones he would like. He has also rated them 1-5 so this way I can mix them up and give family suggestions. Asked my son what should I add he said it is AWESOME!! LOVE this any lego fan or gamer would be happy with this as a gift. ... show more

  • One of the more engaging video games I have found!
We purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 6 year old son. He has enjoyed hours of fun playing this game. It is easy enough for him to figure out on his own and yet has different levels and complexities that keep him engaged. This item and the Fun Packs to go along with the game include lego building components that add another level of fun for kiddos. ... show more
