I bought this for casting pewter. It holds about 4 pounds. The temperature control is quite good and you can get a good melt without overheating the alloy. Heats faster than advertised. A pot melts in less than half the time I expected. Have not done lead yet. But after several pewter jobs I’m sure it will do well there too. As a devout crappie fisherman, It quickly became obvious that if the sport is too expensive, I need another sport. This lead pour system solves a major financial problem. I can pour jig heads and weights for just pennies on the dollar. The construction of this pot is so well made there is no doubt it will last for years and years. I had to purchase this one because my old one finally gave up heating after 20 years. The temp setting is clear and easy to use. Just turn the knob and wait for the pot to heat up. It holds over five lbs. of lead and will start melting after ten or so minutes. The spout on the bottom allows for pouring into professional model molds with very strict tolerances. The delivery system is simple but very accurate. Just lift the handle and the lead precisely comes out the bottom spout. If the spout becomes clogged, it is easy to clean with just a sewing pin. Compared to other systems, this is more user friendly, more cost effective, and the final product comes out looking professional. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to pour their own molds and save lots of money. ... show more
