Man was I glad to have this when I bailed on my dirt bike. Fits great, comfortable, is cool in warm weather but chilly in cool weather. I can fit a jacket over it because it isn't too bulky. Lots of adjust-ability to get the fit right, no movement restrictions. Price was excellent.

I almost didn’t order this item because of the feedback reviews. However, I’m very glad I did. I’m 5’10 280lbs. I wear a size 46 jacket and size 42 waist pants. I ordered the XXL Leatt 5.5. It arrived in 5 days. It is much higher quality than I expected. It fit me easily. I can put it on by pulling it over my head. This is the easiest way I found to put it on. However, I use the zippers to get it off. I ride hare scrambles and find this to be exceptional protection. I did put hot glue on the arm zippers to prevent them from coming open. Hot glue can be peeled off without damaging the zippers. I have wore it 6 times so far with the hottest day being 72*. It hasn’t been to hot as of yet. I wear a cotton T-shirt under, then the Leatt 5.5, then my jersey. I did not purchase the neck brace. So far I haven’t went down, so I can’t really swear to how well it will work. But it feels considerably better than my old Titan. That being said, it is heavier than any previous chest protection I have used. The weight is not an issue, and I am 50 years old. So younger riders should have no concerns. I’m very happy with this and would recommend it to my friends. This is a lot of info, but this is a costly item. I hope this helps. I'm 5 "10 205 pounds and the XXL fits perfect. XXL will fit a guy bigger guy at least a 230 pound guy. If your smaller then me I would go with the XL. I cracked my rib wearing the O'Neal Underdog because of lack of protection in the rib area. Now the Leatt protector covers all your ribs back and chest. 5 stars spend the money and save yourself a trip to the hospital. ... show more

This is a 5 star chest protector with 2 star sleeves. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. For some reason Leatt decided to put a half zipper on each arm at the elbow. By half zipper I mean that it doesn't go all the way around the arm, just around the back of the arm. Every time you put the armor on you will have to deal with this opening and every time you take it off you have to be VERY careful not to break this weak link. You can't just unzip the bottom portion and put it on last either unless you have help. My solution was to have a tailor remove the zipper and sew the pieces together, making it a normal long sleeved shirt. This makes it so much nicer and I don't understand why Leatt doesn't listen to all of the forum posts complaining about the stupid zipper. The only other negative is that this armor gets warm when you are moving and hot when you are not, but this is to be expected. You always have to make a tradeoff of heat/comfort for protection. The venting on this armor is very good and works well when you are moving, but when you stop for a few minutes you heat up fast. It is comfortable to wear on slow rides only at temps under 85 degrees. Pros: Great build quality Great protection Rib/flank protection (this is extremely hard to find!) Vents well for what it is Neck brace compatible Good adjustability Cons: Warm/hot - Nothing you can do about this, there will always be a trade off for protection Horrible sleeve zippers ... show more

This jacket is great for protection and it is comfortable to wear. The only issue is if you are a bigger guy like me (6'1" 220) the large is way too tight but the XL is way too big. I had to get my wife to sew in some extra Velcro to tighten up the sleeves and kidney belt to where it would fit and if I lose any more weight it won't fit but the large would still be way too small unless I was around 180 pounds. ... show more

Shoulder pad problem solved. I hate the should pads on the Leatt vests but really appreciate everything else about Leatt gear. I got this jacket hoping it would be my answer, and I'm glad to report it is. I'm 6'2" ~200lbs and XXL is the right fit. Easy to adjust the flank guard sizing to fit. Excellent coverage- better than Fox Titan by a long shot (I like Fox gear a lot too!). I didn't find the body zipper to be awkward or annoying, but the arm zips will need to be dealt with- I saw another review that suggested taking to a tailor to connect and will probably do that. No crash testing yet but feels extremely secure and mobile when on. Great neck brace integration. ... show more

This body armor is insane and very high quality! I would recommend to anyone without hesitation. You really get what you pay for with this item. The integrated kidney belt is for real too, just as good as my individual kidney belt I use to wear before buying this armor. I have two other body protectors and have fallen hard with each of them and bruised my ribs each time. Those protectors do not cover my ribs like this suite does. This armor totally covers my ribs and every other place that I want (chest, shoulders, spine, tail bone, elbows, forearms, stomach). I feel like I could go to war with this armor and be safe. The movement while wearing the armor is great, no restrictions at all. It is very breathable too. I have not done it yet, but you are also able to detach the lower sleeves by unzipping them making it a short sleeve suite. ... show more

This thing is by far the most protection I have ever had. I got the XXL, and it fits perfect on the smallest setting. I am only 5'8" so the back support goes all the way down for me. Arms are perfect length, and it feels great on. The only thing I don't like is, how it is hard turning my head to see behind me. I don't think I need the neck brace, as I feel like I have enough protection, and it is hard enough to turn my head, but with a taller person, I am sure they would not have the same problem I do.
