I have used this reading program for both my children. For my oldest it was used before he started kindergarten as a preparation for school based learning. The program did not teach him to read in 4 weeks (in fact, we often repeated the lessons because he didn’t seem to completely understand everything) but it gave him an excellent foundation and he quickly excelled in school. He’s in 3rd grade and 99th percentile nationally for reading. He’s currently reading at the 6th grade level. I do credit the early start on learning the letters and phonetics, as well as the straightforward 1-1 interaction with parents for creating a base where reading is fun. Don’t worry if it feels like they aren’t getting it. Just keep it light and fun. For my son, it was almost like all of a sudden everything clicked and he was reading really well and far beyond his grade level. My daughter just entered kindergarten this year. Unfortunately I did not start the program last year as I did with my oldest. She initially struggled with letters and wasn’t quite meeting grade level. It was a wake up call when we heard this. Due to a move the program was boxed up somewhere unknown… I bought the book Learn to Read in 100 Easy Lessons because it was highly recommended and cheap but that failed to engage either of us. It was truly a struggle and learning to read definitely wasn’t fun… So I dug out the learning dynamics program and started it ASAP. She loves it! The music, the learning style, the coloring, the 1-1 parent interaction… she asks for it every night. And the best part, she went from struggling with letters to actually being able to combine the letters into words and, yes, read! She is one of those where she ‘learned to read’ in 4 weeks. It’s basic reading, but she’s engaged and hungry to learn more. I think her next report card will show improvement in her reading level by leaps and bounds. Overall, I would highly recommend this program to all looking to supplement the current school curriculum and/or start to prepare their preschooler. Even if they don’t ‘learn to read in 4 weeks’ this program is setting up a base for understanding how. And the best part is that it’s fun, it doesn’t take a lot of time (it’s part of our bedtime routine), and the music is well written and catchy. On the parent side the program is super easy and the structure repeats daily so there is no prep work. This is an excellent, fun program for kids and parents to engage in together to set up reading success.

Literally 4 weeks to the day and my 4 year old (5 at the end of the year) is officially reading. It is incredibly effective. I will say he has been in an education-based daycare setting since he was an infant as I work full-time and he is in jr k now so he’s been learning letters and sounds and writing skills there, but nonetheless, my son looks forward to these lessons and it’s our special 1:1 time. He asks for more lessons and more books daily. We have a trip coming up and the lessons will be coming with us so we don’t miss out on the consistency as it seems to be working. Don’t wait. Buy this. It’s honestly so worth it. I’m a very happy full-time working parent and we do our lessons after school every day. My goal was for him to have reading down by the time he starts kindergarten. And we are exceeding my hopes with this program so far. Still have a long way to go but with the quick progress I’ve seen, I highly recommend this. He’s actually reading and understanding what he is reading afterwards (there are reading comprehension questions from Book 4 and on).

My son and I have really enjoyed this curriculum so far. As a English teacher to junior high students who still struggle to read at even a 5th grade level, I really want to give my son the best head start on reading so that he will not be behind like so many of my students are. Before starting this reading system, my son knew most of his letters and the sounds, but he struggled with identifying and giving the letter sound for 9 letters. But he loves music and remembers tunes and words to songs very easily, so I knew this program would be good for him. M was the first letter in the curriculum, one of the letters my son struggled with, and after 1 day singing the M song and reading the story, my son could remember the letter and the sound. I've been trying to get him to remember that for about nine months. And my son LOVES singing the songs, so "school" is fun for him again (and fun for me too!). He'd been very frustrated with letters before I found this curriculum, and now school is not frustrating. The only thing I would have liked to see is more practice pages for writing the letters. There isn't a lot of room on the workbook pages. I make a copy of the workbook pages whenever we practice that letter, or I have to use other workbooks with the same letters to give my son more practice writing the letters, but that's not a huge issue. Overall, I'm very satisfied. My son was able to sound out his first word after only a week of doing this curriculum (although we did go a little faster than recommended since he knew a lot of the first several letters and sounds already). I'm thankful to the creators of this reading system for breathing life back into my little home classroom for my 4 year old.

My son is definitely on the squirrely side. Getting him to sit down and focus on drawing, practicing letters/numbers, or anything that's not obviously playing at home is pretty tough. School's out (he was in TK) and I was struggling to keep him on a routine of doing some fine motor-skill practice that I was making up myself in addition to a workbook the school sent home with us. It was a battle every time, and even though he would do it in the end, the battle was exhausting and put a negative feeling to the whole thing. So I bought this after reading the testimonials and reading the back-story. It came in the mail the next day, which was exciting for him in and of itself. While I was previewing the material and watching the youtube video of the lesson and song sung every time, he was in the other room watching his absolute favorite PBS show. When he heard that song come on, he came running into the kitchen! He climbed up into the chair next to me and wanted to listen. We're only 3 letters into the lessons, doing them at the same time every day, lots of praise, and a fruit popcicle after the lesson, and he's doing it! With no battle! I made him a "treasure box" to keep his character/letter cards in, which he decorated with stickers and keeps in a hiding place in his room. The songs are definitely a big part of helping him remember, along with the characters and the new alphabet song that emphasizes the sounds each letter makes. The lessons are the perfect length for him to get through, even if he's in a bad mood. The lessons are the same format every time, he knows what to expect, and I'm very hopeful that this will carry us through the summer and give him a head-start in kindergarten. The fact that he's already into it is a great sign!

This program is excellent to teach your child to read. I purchased it for my 4 year old and he will be entering PreK already a reader. I also used it to review with my 6 yr old on some areas where she was having difficulties. It even helped my 16 year old Foreign Exchange student grasp some concepts as she would listen to me work with the kids. As with anything, you need to put in the time or else it won't work. It's an easy to follow program and the "Training" section of their website of extremely helpful, so I would highly recommend taking the time to review that before introducing the program. I am not an educator by trade and I found it easy to follow. My 4 yr old son loves the books and he says so. The only one he had trouble connecting with is one with all girls in tutus :) Otherwise, I would say the books are gender neutral and with some diversity (which is important to us). I also like how the stories build on the one before. I would say my 4 yr old has achieved a level of reading comprehension that I could have only dreamed of with my 6 yr old. The songs are excellent, very catchy, both of my children love the songs and request I play them repeatedly. My absolute favorite this about this program is that the books only contain words made up of sounds you have reviewed up to that point (with the exception of a few, very few, inevitable sight words). I didn't give it 5 stars because: 1. The first manual I received was littered with errors. I wrote to the company and eventhough I ordered through Amazon, they very willingly sent me a replacement manual, HOWEVER, the replacement, although it had less errors than the first, it still has several. I contacted them again and they said they are in the process of printing new ones. 2. The manual itself does not offer specific instructions on when to introduce most books. There are a few instances where it does indicate, but for the most part, you need to figure it out yourself. It is not the most difficult thing to do, but for a paid program, I would expect the company to walk you through it by way of the manual. 3. The program comes with a CD, I would have preferred an itunes download. You can download through their website, but I have not successfully been able to download all of the songs. Overall, I'm satisfied with the program and am glad we tried it out. Being able to read and comprehend is invaluable. My son will not struggle in school as my daughter has simply because of this.

There is a 2022 new online interactive companion! For anyone reading the older comments wondering why their original website and app and songs are missing, I’m here to tell you that they upgraded to a new online interactive companion. I bought this item May 2022 and it came with a card (see photo) with their updated website. (4weekstoreadonline.com/amazon) I wish I could let all the other customers and parents complaining about the missing app know that there is a new website, but hope this review will help future parents. My four-year-old is loving the set. It’s so much fun for her and I love the bonding time we have together. I’ll update in four weeks, but she is flying through the lessons. I really feel confident she’ll be learning to read soon. There is a $99 option to purchase all 58 lesson videos and 53 book videos on the website, but all the songs are on the website for free. I did purchase the $99 option, but the program could easily be done without it. The videos are basically an actor going through the lesson plan, which already comes in printed form in the box set. They give you a few free videos until they start to charge you. You can see from the sample free videos how the program can easily be done without them, but it is a nice feature if you do have them. I personally feel like the investment is worth it, but again not required for the set to work. When I read the other comments and saw their weird original website with only one link, I was on the fence buying this item, but I really wanted the books. So happy I purchased the set to find out the company just did a little upgrade.

Here’s a polished version of your review that keeps your honest experience and details while improving the flow and readability: I have been using Learning Dynamics “Learn to Read in 4 Weeks” for several weeks now, and we just completed Lesson 21. Before starting this program, my daughter already knew all of her letters and letter sounds, so the beginning lessons were mostly review for her. At first, I was unsure if I was going to like this program. One thing that disappointed me was that the training videos that were mentioned were not included. I also noticed that some of the sounds used in the songs were not pronounced correctly, so I often had to stop and ask my daughter if that was the correct sound. She would usually correct it herself. Even with those issues, I continued using the program and mainly followed the lesson guidebook, although I adjusted some activities to better fit my daughter’s needs and learning style. As we progressed through the lessons, I started adding extra letter and sound drills at the beginning of each lesson for review. I also began using the letter cards to help her build words with the letters she had already learned. The lessons do become longer as more letters are introduced, but I actually found that helpful because it gave us more opportunities to practice reading and word building. Most importantly, my daughter is now reading, and this is the only curriculum that has truly helped her make progress with learning to read. Because of the progress we have seen, I plan to use this program over the summer with my son, who just finished kindergarten. Overall, I would recommend Learning Dynamics. It definitely has some flaws, but in the end, it really does help children learn to read like it advertises.

Cons: my 4 year old could not read in 4 weeks,she is super smart and has learned her abc's and that's about it! The lesson books are cheap ink and the black smears with the crayons. It should come with extra practice work sheets for the price and better ink that doesn't smear with crayon. If I were to pay for this again, I'd say it's not worth more than $30 if that. A couple Pros: You have to give credit to the song writter. Good songs to learn abc's, but this app is free and we could have just used the songs and our own cheap flash cards we already had. Great for homeschooling to teach Abc's. The app is the good part, but it's FREE... So you really don't need a work book... U can make ur own.. More Cons: the reading books practally tell her what words to say book 1-3. Book 4 actually seems to be more of a book to actually read. This is week 5. We spend 30 min a day either learning a new letter or re learning previous letters. We like the program but it's over priced for the paper, print and supies you get for $100.even on sale for $80 is dumb. The books, work books and all are cheap. Pros is that my daughter enjoys the program. I'll update next month. Update week 6, still can't read but knows the sounds of all alphabet letters
