  • The best musical toy for my child!
Color: Teal
This is actually our second time purchasing this exact toy. It is incredibly well-made, sturdy, and reliable. My child has autism and tends to throw or drop it, but this toy withstands it all. It took a few years of heavy use before a couple of buttons finally stopped working, which is honestly impressive. It features four modes with different groups of melodies, and all the songs are wonderful and well-known. The controls are simple and easy to navigate, making it a perfect fit for toddlers or children with special needs. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Excellent long term toy
Color: Teal
For the price, this is a really great item. Even though it says 18m+, I bought it for my 2 month old because I wanted easy access to more music options for her than just the couple songs her swing and play mat play. I looked at other options but everything else on the market was $50+. All the features are pretty impressive for a $20 toy. It’s got a Bluetooth option that was pretty simple to set up, has a headphone jack, and the recording feature works pretty well in addition to the 40 songs available on the buttons. The sound quality itself is honestly not bad for a $20 speaker and the available song options are adequate - some classic songs, some nice learning songs. A few of the song choices are a little odd or annoying if I’m being picky but ultimately everything is fine. I think that my baby will be closer to 6-8 months before she can mash buttons herself to get a song and probably closer to the suggested 18 months before she can use most of the features on her own, but she loves listening to it and watching the colors change during tummy time right now. I expect that this will be a solid 5-6 year toy for her if it’s durable enough to last that long. ... show more

  • Great gift for toddler!
Color: Teal
I spent a long time looking for the updated version of the kids cassette player of my youth for our two year olds birthday and couldn’t stomach spending a zillion dollars on a “box” that I then would have to buy cartridges or stuffier for additional cash just to have them get lost or be a big mess. No, this is just right. You can record on the ten slots (and then your kiddo can when they are old enough to figure it out), plus my daughter loves to turn the dial and hear all the pre-recorded favorites. ABCs and All Stars are her favorite modes, and I like to play the relaxing songs for her baby sister sometimes. There is also active songs and the recorded slots for a total of 50 tracks (40 permanent and 10 recordable). Only one is annoying to me (number ten on active songs—“tick tock, tick tock, time is running on the clock…hurry hurry make it fun…” it gets faster and faster and the voice bugs me!) We recorded her address and my phone number on one of the slots and she plays it again and again to learn it. We’ve recorded us singing together, too. Recording is pretty easy, but also enough steps that she won’t record over everything herself until she’s a little older. It also has Bluetooth mode, so if you want to connect it to a playlist or stream from your phone, that works too. And there is an aux headphone port, so we may add a pair of headphones at some point. Overall, super well designed, very small and easy for toddler to carry. Lots of fun and not much $$! ... show more

  • Great toy for a young music lover
Color: Teal
I bought this little “radio” almost 2 years ago and it still works great. The child I purchased it for plays with it every day and absolutely loves it. The fact you can record your own message or song makes it even more special. I highly recommend this toy for any child that loves music. I will also add that the diversity of songs it plays is pretty impressive. ... show more

  • Indestructible.
Color: Teal
This radio has been with my kid for about a year now. Lasted through a tantrum that resulted in it flying off our second story deck and spent a week in the elements including rain. Its gone down stairs, accross rooms, out of a car window and yet still lives. Havent had to change the batteries yet either. The paint is a bit worn out but i have to say i was not expecting this level of toddler resistance. Bravo! Definately recommend. And love being able to record and play back. Great for mommy and daddyblullabies or weird sounds for them to listen to when going to bed. We alternate working late nights. If this one dies, im definately getting another. ... show more

  • Great Toy & Gift
Color: Teal
Our 18month toddler loves music and this has been one of her favorite toys for several months. What we love: -There’s a ton of songs on here, some of which are new & unique to us. -Helped my daughter learn her colors and numbers. She really likes certain songs and has come to recognize the numbers and colors of the buttons she uses to get to them. -LOVE the record your own songs settings. We have used that to record short messages from family members that she doesn’t get to see all the time. When she’s older I’m sure she’ll want to record her own tunes. -Bluetooth option is great to mix up the variety of music offerings. Can play podcasts & toddler radio without it coming from our phones, iPad or TV. -easy to carry around, my toddler carries it around everywhere. -so much value for the price. We would highly recommend this little stereo for any kid between 9 months and 3 years. ... show more

  • Love this!
Color: Teal
This was an absolute hit with my 3 year old. He especially loves the record feature. He can hear his favourite songs on repeat without waiting on mummy to play it via YouTube. ❤️ The Bluetooth feature also makes it a great product, the adults can also have a time with this. 😅 Edit: The battery died after 1 month, well at least I hope its the battery. It's playing and cutting off in a few seconds. I was a bit taken aback because his other leapfrog usually last over a year before it dies. In addition, Once you record all 10 spots I'm not seeing an option to delete or edit. The problem is a few spots were used as trial. ... show more

  • Kid loves it.
Color: Teal
This is a cute toy with a *lot* of songs on it. My kid received this (the blue and white one... apparently there's a pink one now, unclear if it's functionally different or just a different color) as a gift when he was maybe 18 months old, and he was able to start playing with it right away, pushing the buttons and hearing songs. My wife and I and all our relatives used the record feature to record nice messages, and he could play them back, in addition to listening to songs, etc. As he got older and started talking around 2, he discovered he could record his own messages, and loves that. He's now 4, and he still walks around the house playing songs, and spends time recording "voicemails" for grandparents, etc. So the reason I'm reviewing this rather than the aunt who originally gifted it is because the original one broke. I don't remember if it was battery corrosion, or if he just threw it across the room in a fit, but it reached a point where it wouldn't power on. Normally when I toy reaches that point, it's just gone. However, he has so much fun with this that we just had to buy another one. Honestly, given the amount of abuse it received, I'm a little surprised it made it as long as it did. Pushed off tables, kicked across the floor, knocked all over the place by roughousing dogs - Leapfrog really understands the conditions that their products operate under and make a good quality product. If you're on the fence about this, I recommend just going for it. $35 for a toy that will stay entertaining for years is a really good investment... especially given how short a young kids' attention span typically is (most of our toys stay interesting for a month, or maybe two. There are very, very few that have held our kid's attention as much as this has. ... show more
