  • Heavy Duty and Effective - Son has a Real Love/Hate Relationship with Them
I’ve been letting my son earn some extra chore money by caring for the lawn this year. He's been using these US: E Lawn Aerator Shoes to slowly aerate our entire property (about an acre) and they’ve proven a simple but sturdy method. The hook & loop straps and adjustable laces ensure a snug fit, which means you can easily walk around comfortably without them slipping off, even if your ground is extra wet or hardpacked. The spikes are robust and penetrate the soil effectively, which is essential for proper aeration. They come with a stainless steel shovel, loving called the Owl Trowel at our house, which is a handy addition for digging up rocks and other hard debris. The overall design is practical, and the black color means they don’t show dirt easily. They’re not the most sophisticated lawn tool we own, but they get the job done with a minimal learning curve and almost no risk of my kid finding a way to screw the job up. They’re a good, no-frills option that is helping to improve the health of my grass without too much effort. I definitely don't necessarily recommend this option for large areas of land like what we're working with unless you also have a willing Child Labor Force or a desire for an intense leg day workout, but this is definitely a great tool for smaller areas and to aerate close to areas where pull-behind aerators can't go. ... show more

  • Spectacular Spike Shoes
These did the trick. I've worn while mowing and just stomping around the yard. Dry Arizona soil. While mowing I stomped a bit more as the ground was hard as its been hot and dry for quite a spell. Such is the desert. Sunk pretty easily though. Went even better when I walked after the sprinklers had done their thing and the ground was a bit saturated (of course). Super easy to strap on, stayed tight. Easy to clean, just sprayed off with the hose. Very happy so far with this item. ... show more

  • Pokey - mon!!!
I might have given these aerator shoes a 5 star rating but they didn’t stay secure to my heel and kept coming off. Initially they have the front strap in the most forward holes on the shoe and that was too far forward for my size 7.5 shoes. Luckily I could move them to the second set of holes and that seemed to work a little better to keep the shoe secure to my work boots. However, the rear straps don’t fit as well to my size shoes and kept slipping off causing my shoe to move backward off the aerator shoe. The good news is that there are three holes in the rear plastic piece that is supposed to stop your heel from sliding backward. I had some Velcro straps that I was able to put into the center of the three holes and then secure that to the rear strap, that did the trick and kept the aerator shoe from sliding off backward. Another thing is that if you are trying to aerate an area that is freshly disturbed and the ground is a little muddy, it will stick to the shoe. It is not a big thing just something that you have to remove in order to get good ground penetration. Overall, these do the job. ... show more

  • Simple and Effective
These shoes are very easy to use right out of the box. I recommend you first unstrap all straps and then secure them so that they give you the fit you want. Because they are simple to use, I just strapped them on out of the box and started walking in them. They kept coming loose and causing my foot to go back past the heal part. I sat back down, reworked the straps and then had no problems. They do penetrate the lawn effectively, and I like that you can see the results from walking in these shoes. Be careful how you walk though. Because the spikes go in deep, if you try to change directions without pulling the spikes completely out of the ground, you could twist your ankle. I like that they give you a two tools, one for tightening the spikes should they come loose. And, the other for digging dirt out from the spikes, which you will need. I recommend these simple, but effective aeration shoes. ... show more

  • Stomp the Yard
Strap them to your feet and go to work. I was able to aerate a few stubborn areas of my yard before fertilizing. I then threw some extra topsoil on those areas. Hopefully, that will help encourage some growth this summer to fill in the bare spots. The product made this super easy, as all I had to do was stomp around a bit. The spikes are very sturdy and pierced the ground with no problem. I did try to lift my feet intentionally so as not to stress the plastic too much. All in all... they got the job done. Not much more you can ask for. ... show more

  • It’s a leg workout
I needed to aerate my crummy lawn and these offered what I think I need. After talking to the pro’s, I was told I do not need to plug the lawn, I just need to create some punctures to allow fresh seed and nutrients to be better absorbed in an attempt to reconcile my terrible lawn. I only have a couple hundred square feet to do, so it’s not much. I wear a ladies 8 in work boots and I found these to be a bit big. The adjustable Velcro helped, a lot, but I still could not quite cinch them tight enough. My husband (12W) had no problem with them). Had never tried the shoe spikes before and lets just say I found there to be a bit of a learning curve with them. It was good for laughs anyways. After you get used to the feel, and figure out to walk best with them on, it pretty straight forward. Overall, I think they worked. Maybe I’m just a wimp, but my husband seem to have an easier time than I did. Overall, I think they worked for my purposes. Only down side was a few of the spikes were rusty upon delivery so I’m sure in my often waterlogged yard, these will rust easily. ... show more

  • Comfortably wore while mowing
I was able to wear these while mowing to save time. I thought it might be tricky, but after spending a few minutes securing the straps properly they stayed on the whole time and it was rather easy and comfortable as long as I didn't walk into the pavement. Men's size 10 boot. The shoes went into and pulled out of the ground easily with minimal mud sticking to the shoe. Gulf Coast Texas soil. ... show more
