First and foremost, these sticks are quite long. They do not fit in a standard vertical incense burner to catch the ash. This means that I had to go vertical, and the ash did start to lean quite a bit before falling on the table. The fragrance of lavender was more apparent while it was still in the bag or in the open air, but all but disappeared when lit. The smoke is pretty intense for the first min our so, and then seemed to settle down. In a normal sized bedroom, the intensity of the other fragrance was enough to make my eyes sting a bit. Would recommend lighting in a larger room where it can defuse a bit more. The bag came with 30 sticks. Burning rate when vertical was 90 to 120 mins. Rating this 4 stars as these sticks are quite cumbersome, and the lavender fragrance didn't last.

These Lavender scented incense are very thick and very long, for long life. I do however have an incense burner that helps flow the scent accordingly. It has a heavy, yet thick smell. I can not keep it lit the entire time, but I think that is the point. The smell is greatly potent. And I don't know if I can smell the lavender through the thickness of the smell if that makes any sense. It does smell an entire house all three floors, I may add. It holds in my burner and I think you get your money worth. So yes I believe this would make a good gift, it is packaged nicely and neatly. And long-lasting, smells good and all you need is to burn it a little bit, it is not a slow burning incense, it burns pretty quickly, so just a suggestion, if your going to just burn half I would keep a close eye on that, I learned that the first time I lit one of these. Other than that all 5 stars besides for the smell, which I do like, just a bit to thick and musky for my liking. If I had smelled the lavender through all of that I would have given all five stars, but quantity, quality, packaging and gift giving YES... 5 STARS and I recommend for those reasons. And if you like a musty smell than these are just the ones for you. Lots of people prefer the thick scent, and here you have it. I am still enjoying them, I am sure you will too. They are worth purchasing. Thank you...

These incense sticks are long lasting. I have been burning them for the past few days, and they seem to last anywhere from 3 to 4 hours, depending on the amount of airflow going through the room (it is summer as I am writing this, but my area of the US is not being hit by the insane heat waves, so I can actually have windows open). The smell of the sticks when they are not lit, is not very strong. Don't be fooled, as once they are lit, the smell is very good. Not too strong, and not too weak. It is a long lasting scent, and it remains for close to 18 hours before it starts to fade, which is very nice. I am using them in the room of my house that has the cat's litter boxes, to help deal with the smell that arises between cleanings each day. They are very large as well, and may not fit in to normal incense holders. I was fortunate enough to have a "set" that could accommodate the stick size, but the length of them still made them a bit wobbly when standing up. But, that's not really a con, since they last for so long. All in all, if you love the smell of lavender, these are great.
