Chances are if you’re reading reviews you are serious about buying a balance bike for your little one. I’ve done the homework and looked on every site imaginable, and when I decided to take the plunge on this bike, I can assure you I made the right decision. The ALUMINUM body was one of the main selling points, and the non air tires and padded seat were the others. I looked and looked and looked and I can say with confidence that the name brand ‘Strider’ bike was not worth the extra $100 I would have spent considering that they use steel frames and the paint looks very opaque and cheap compared the the anodized aluminum finish of the Lava bike. ALSO, as a certified welder I was very impressed with the tig welding on the frame of this bike; it’s actually very good considering factory production. For $50 I truly feel that you will not find a higher quality better made bike than this one. For this reason alone is why I am taking the time to write this review, because everyone needs to know that they don’t need to buy a ‘Strider’ if they want a quality balance bike for their lil one. Thank you LAVA! Even the “LAVA” logo is silk screened on the bike! Not a cheap sticker... I’ll recommend this bike to anyone anytime the subject has arisen. ... show more

Let me preface this by saying I used to own a bike shop, and I realize this is a little kids bike, but some of the components are very cheap and don't stay securely tightened, such as the collar that holds the handlebar stem and the seat post collar. Since my 2 yr old hasn't gotten the hang of this yet, he still drops the bike on it's side which causes the handlebars to tweak off center. The same with the saddle. Also the hubs in the wheels were very rough and after some adjustments I was able to get a smoother spin but this should be adjusted at the factory as most people don't have hub wenches or know how to adjust them in the first place. Again, I know this is a toddlers bike. But it seems like the one we got didn't have the correct size collars as no matter how tight I crank down the nut it still moves. However this is a very lightweight bike and the saddle height goes pretty low for little ones. My son is on the small side. Keep in mind that putting the saddle in the lowest position causes the seat post to come out the bottom which your little one's foot can get caught under in a fall. I feel like the seat post is unnecessarily long. A child who needs the saddle in the lowest position is most likely too young to start riding a bike. ... show more

I'm so impressed with how light, yet sturdy this bike is. I love it. My 2 year old son had trouble lifting the other bikes he got handed down from his siblings but can easily lift this one out of its place on the garage, and control his balance better. Got this instead of a Strider brand bike because I heard those are much heavier (and way more expensive). Pleased with much my decision so far. Very well made and easy to assemble. He's loving it so far (2 months) and even making his older siblings jealous. ... show more

Put together in 15 minutes, so light my 3 year old can carry it and seems well made. My kid is 30 inches tall and I have seat as high as it will go but expect by the time she is too big it's on to real bike. Her friend who is smaller 26 inches had problem using, I quickly lowered seat and off she went. She likes it but like anything else needs to get better before she will really like it. Lastly and moist importantly she has "fallen" many times and because of the design it's not really like falling from a real bike and I think it would be tough to actually get hurt.
