They're thick but lightweight! When I received them I decided to see for myself if the notices included in their online description were accurate or simply CYA from the manufacturer! Notice 1: Top dishwasher safe - I put them in the bottom rack of my dishwasher and ran them thru a 90 min wash/dry cycle....No Problems seen!!! Notice 2: Do not use in microwave: I put 1 cup of water in a bowl and put it in the microwave on HIGH for 3 minutes (the time it takes to microwave oatmeal in the morning! Again, NO PROBLEM!!! I GAVE IT 4 STARS BECAUSE THE COLOR WAS NOT QUITE LIKE THE PICTURES SHOWN, ITS MORE OF A BURNT ORANGE NOT A BRIGHT ORANGE LIKE IT THOUGHT THEY WERE BUT STILL VERY BEAUTIFUL LOKKS LIKE REAL STONEWARE AND VERY THICK WHICH I DONT MIND.

For every day I love these. Light weight like the original melamine, but look more substantial. I figure I can use them for outdoors as well and not fear accidentally dropping it.
