  • Great cart, bad shipping
First, let me get this out of way. Here's the bad and the ugly before the good. The cart was shipped by UPS. I have a relative who worked for UPS for a number of years and apparently the shippers are always on a time crunch. Management yells and cusses at their employees and constantly drives them to work harder, faster, be more productive. Many employees take out their frustrations on the products. They will throw stuff around, kick it around, sling it around, or stab it with a forklift. All this to say that the cart arrived in a box that looked like it had been dropped off a building into a mud puddle. The box and cart was so heavily damaged that I took numerous pictures of it (box and cart) and sent them to Great Circle USA. I hope they file a claim against the carrier. The box had been ruptured in several places, including one spot which looked like a fork on a forklift had gone through it. The cart was badly damaged, especially the cart sides and the battery housing. Numerous dents, tears, and bent metal components were found all over the cart. I called Great Circle and worked with them and I offered to send back the cart for a new one. They sent a new cart out to me without any delay. Throughout the whole process, their customer service was awesome and I would definitely do business with them again. In fact, I got a "Thank You" card from them with my order. It's the little things like this that make for a more personal touch, which is sorely lacking in much of today's consumer market. I need to stress that the shipping issue was NOT the fault of Great Circle USA. Therefore, I do not see why many reviewers lower their review rating over a product being damaged during shipping that is not the fault of the seller, unless the seller simply did not package the product properly, or unless their customer service was unresponsive about the damage in shipping issues. But I couldn't ask for better packaging for the cart. So it's not their fault that UPS does not know (or care about) how to handle heavy boxes. And, like I said, customer service was everything I could hope for. Now to the cart itself... I have a big piece of property with hardly any flat ground. Using a standard wheelbarrow for years has taken a toll on my wrists and back. Invariably, I have to move loads up inclines. So I wanted a motorized cart to help with this. The cheapest gas powered cart was in the neighborhood of $1500, so while this cart was a LOT cheaper, I still needed a reliable machine to haul the loads I needed it to do. This cart performs better than I thought it would. You simply move the rocker switch on the battery to the ON position, turn the power on at the right handle, depress the thumb pedal also on the right handle, and you're off. When switching from reverse to forward (or vice versa) my cart hesitates for a few seconds to switch to the other gear, but it catches on. It can move at least as fast as I can walk with a load, and I usually have to slow it down a little. The speed control pedal, which you can see in the last image of Amazon's listing of this cart, is a bit touch sensitive, and it does not take much to make the cart slow down or speed up. As one reviewer noted, the mesh on the cart sides are flimsy, more flimsy than I expected. If the cart is abused in shipping, these sides are most vulnerable to damage. But the bottom frame is, in my opinion, rugged and well-made, and quite able to hold all the weight advertised. I will not deduct any points for the flimsy side wall mesh, because I can retrofit some homemade walls/screen if I need to. Not such a big deal, and it's the only flaw worth anything to me at this point. I've used the cart off and on for several days now, on the same battery charge, with no loss of power. I've hauled landscape blocks, roughly 350 pounds per load, numerous times. I've hauled all kinds of other things as well, up and down slopes. I have thousands of rocks the size of tennis balls to cantaloupes to pick up on my property and move them. I have no doubt this cart can handle it. I keep my loads well below published maximums and just make more trips. It's safer and easier. Bottom line is that for $600, this cart does EXACTLY what I hoped I could do with it and it has already saved me a lot of time and aching elbows from lifting regular wheelbarrows and pushing loads up inclines. I was concerned about the cart having 3 wheels instead of 4. I've seen the Makita with its 3 wheel design. Normally, I love Makita tools, but their cart is completely unstable and tips over easily. The difference is that Makita has their 3rd wheel in the front, while this cart has the 3rd wheel in the back. I've not had any issues with the cart wanting to tip over from a load, but I'm also careful to evenly distribute the load as much as reasonable. I'll mention one more thing. When I received the new cart that replaced my damaged cart, the new cart was also damaged during the shipping, but not nearly so much as the first one. At first I could not get the battery to charge and I contacted the company. They were prepared to send me a new battery, but then I thought about inspecting the batteries myself first. There are actually 4 batteries, connected in a series. The batteries are stored in a housing, so once I removed the cover, I discovered that one of the terminal wires had come loose, presumably during shipping. I reconnected the wire and the batteries charged up without any problem. So if you have any issues with the batteries not charging properly, or the charging unit shows a green light when you know the batteries are not fully charged, check your wires for proper connection. All in all I am very happy with the cart. It is $600 well spent. The few negatives about the cart are more than made up by their customer service. Plus, I can work around the few flaws the machine has. I will follow up with any updates as I feel the need to. ... show more

  • Amazing and mighty. Read whole review
Update.. I just have to tell you about how amazing the customer service was with great circle USA. They are the product manufacturers. I've had my cart for about 2 years I have never been nice to it. And it has stayed running like a champion. However for whatever reason my charger stopped working altogether. I was not able to talk to anybody in customer service Because Of the virus. Their offices have been closed. However they take email. So I sent them an email with the model number and all the information to find out how I could order a new charger. They then sent me out a brand new charger and thank me for my original purchase. When it arrived it turned out that they sent me a ballast. I sent them a new email informing them of what I had. And what I needed. I also made it perfectly clear that I was more than willing to pay them for the new charger. However they sent me a brand new charger once again for free did not ask for the ballast back. And they apologize for the mix up. I now have a new charger and my batteries are charging As I write this. Since the arrival of my cart I have had to talk to Amazon customer service and great circle USA customer service. I have had a wonderful experience with both. I just received my package today. It was a day early so that was excellent. However I've never received a package in this state of beat up. However the factory packed it very well so little damage was actually done. But there is damaged. The box that holds the batteries. Is extremely flimsy. This was broken in several places and one whole side doesn't function at all. The blue cage Kart bed feels decent. However the sides that you pin on and off. We're already bent when I got them. And I don't think they could withstand any misuse at all. I have seen plenty of plastic made items that were more robust. I honestly think that they are going to tear right off and this is going to be a flatbed only. Since the battery box was broken on arrival. Some of the batteries have fallen out and the wires were dislodged. So I had to unscrew everything and put it back together. They use only one color battery cable. So I didn't know whether to wire in series or sequence. Not that difficult if you know what you're looking for. It does not say whether it needs to be on or off when it's in charge. I assume off. I have been charging for 3 hours with no change in indication. Okay so when I first got the card it was broken. But it's not that much different than electric golf cart. I finally got it working and then tried to see what it could do. What I found out was amazing. Discard can do anything as long as you think about it. The sides and tailgate for the cart are terrible. They're very weak and flimsy. Everything else is more than excellent. For instance it says that it can only handle a 15 degree slope. I easily had it on an upwards of 80 degrees slopes. I've climb steps with a load. No way to actually tell what my loads have been. But I would average around 300 pounds per load. I have an 8-acre property. Many Hills and I was able to get an entire down tree. From the back of the property all the way back to the house. I had to cut it up and it took a lot of trips. What was amazing is the terrain was able to cover. I believe this cart could do anything you want it to do. As long as you're willing to figure out how to make it do it. I took the sides and tailgate off of mine. Took an old wheelbarrow. And installed that onto the platform. In a manner I'm able to take off when necessary. And that worked great for me. I do backfilling foundations. And I am absolutely going to take this on to my next job. I have no idea Under full load how long the batteries will last. However I also don't think that that's an issue. If you think you're going to be using the cart over such long periods of time. I a second set of batteries. They are extremely easy to install and take out. If you always have a second set then you always have a full charge. I sincerely have to get some pictures of what I've done. Because I have taken this card everywhere and put it through an amazing amount of challenges. It has come through as well as my skid steer does. It has power. If you've ever been using a two-wheel tiller and had it grab and jump. This can do the same thing. I'm sure my review started off Rocky as if I wasn't going to like it. But this has to be one of the greatest things I've ever ordered off of Amazon. Hands down this will help any job. It is exceptionally easy to load into the back of a truck or van if you have the space. I am absolutely taking this to Lowe's with me anytime I have to pick up anything. It's much easier to handle them their carts inside. If you're thinking about buying this cart. Buy it. It's absolutely worth it. Whatever the job is it will work for you. There's really not enough good you can say about it. And it's very quiet. But the power is amazing. If you could make the ramps sturdy and long enough it'll haul shingles right up onto a roof. Absolutely worth every penny you will be very happy with your purchase. I hope the review is helpful and I'll have to get some pictures up so you can see the different sized Hills I've had this go up and down. So I've read a few reviews saying that the cart works for a couple of months really well and then just stops working. The wires connecting the batteries are just push connections. They absolutely can will and do come loose every once in awhile. I can honestly say it takes less than 5 minutes to open the battery box reconnect the wires and go. As long as you're not getting this unit wet I'm pretty sure it will just continue to work until the motor goes. Of course the batteries that are in it are common batteries that do wear out. But having worked with a battery several times I'm certain they have around a 2-year life cycle at full charge. However if you never let your batteries wear down and charge back up your range for high-use will be very low. I am still beating mine up every other day and it begs for more abuse. Simply put I would wager that some of these complaints are more operator errors. Not a true picture of the cart. ... show more
