We have tried a lot of different school skirts for our school uniform over the years, but these are a favourite. The ponte fabric has body to make it more flouncy, so not stiff and “creepy” feeling. However not too thin, Good flexible weight to wear alone in fall/spring or with fleece leggings in the cold winter months (we live in the northeast). My 13yr old is 5’4” and 118lbs, she likes the size 16 for length as “it’s not too short where her butt can embarrassing accidentally show” (also her school uniform doesn’t allow skirts above mid thigh, but is tricky to find for girls who are not short as everything is either a mini or super long). She is a teen and cares about how she looks so again it’s been a lot of skirts tried. These make the grade the best fulfilling the looking cool and not being too short so gets in trouble at school. Skirt is very well made but runs very small in the waist so be sure to size up 1 or 2 sizes. My daughter is pretty short so the hem is about an inch or so below her knees.

We figured out that since my 8-year-old daughter is tall and slim that in Lands' End skirts we have to order her a size 6 in a long length style so it won't be too short. If we get a size 7 or 8 the waist is too large and the length too short in the size 6 if we get the skirt with shorts attached. So this one works because longer length allows us to get a size 6 and not be too short. So this on her is definitely above the knee but at least longer than the skirt that has attached shorts which was too short for her small waist. We are going to keep this but we may need to go below the knee length next time to get a normal length for her small waist. They should really make slim sizes. In order brands we always buy size 8 but we can't do that with Lands' End skirts. ... show more
