    • Works for me, but the board lacks any documentation
This little 3-axis controller board does the job. I’m using it to experiment with a homemade CNC setup that I’m building. It was simple enough to attach three NEMA 17 stepper motors and to then test them with Universal G-Code Sender. I plugged in a 24-volt power supply (not included), attached the USB port to my computer, and used the Setup Wizard in UGS. I had the motors running in less than 30 minutes. The 24-volt power supply is not required unless you have motors. The board receives power from the USB port and will respond to commands from the computer without that external power supply. I used a G-code file that plotted a circular pattern had the motors responding in a sinusoidal motion as expected, and working in sync with the UGS visualizer. The Z-axis motor responded at the beginning and end of the pattern, as expected. I tested the limit switches too, and they are all responding. So, it’s looking good. The product description mentions that there is support for Windoze. Fortunately – the USB port is recognized as serial port under MacOS as well, so UGS running on a Mac worked fine. I expect that any cross-platform G-code senders would also work on a Mac. The board seems to be reasonably well made and the included plastic case and cooling fan are a bonus. It’s a good value. But there is no documentation at all. What you see in the Amazon product description is what you get for documentation. In my experience, such products imported from China usually have terrible documentation anyway. Still – it would have been nice if the supplier at least made an effort. For example, there are adjustment pots on the board (presumably for controlling the motor current) and it would have been nice to have some hints about how to use those, and wiring diagrams for the connectors. And, how to upgrade GRBL as new versions come out. One star off for lack of documentation. Fortunately, the board seems to respond as expected to G-code commands as issued by UGS. And, there are lots of resources on-line for learning about GRBL and CNC and G-code. This board might be a good replacement for a fried CNC controller, or a starting point for a home project (as I’m using it). Beginners might want to look elsewhere. ... show more

    • No instruction manual
They do not include an instruction manual or a power supply. Other than that it works as it should and has all the necessary pinouts for a full desktop CNC mill with all of the features. For the most part it is plug and play but may not be for someone who doesn't normally mess around with this sort of thing. The PCB does have clear screen printing and all of the ports are labeled. One downside is the use of the Mini USB jack. They do include a proper USB cord but Mini USB is a bit dated, even Micro USB is. Should be Type C honestly which is the new current standard. Near perfect control board for a DIY Laser/CNC engraver setup! Pros: 1. It can control all three (X, Y & Z) axis. 2. It also has limit switches for all three axis. 3. It works well with NEMA (17) motors. 4. USB cable is included (awesome), but a power supply is not! I would've personally preferred the power supply, but I guess something is better than nothing? 5. Nice clear cover helps to minimize debris whale maintaining good visualization. 6. Very reasonable price that would be even better with a power supply. Cons: 1. There are NO docs of any kind (instructions, data sheet or inventory list) included in the pack. So far, this seems like a quality controller. In early testing, it appears to be well made and performs better than I had hoped! Now, if we could get some instructions (included) and a power supply this would easily be 5-stars! ... show more

Integrated design. Includes mounting bracket and a cooling fan. I’m planning to use it on my MPCNC(mostly printed CNC) build but frankly any 3 step motor setup can be controlled with this board.
