Description

The 18|36 Lathe features a brand new design & details that will excite any serious bowl Turner! The first feature that will catch your attention is undoubtedly the ergonomic angled control panel made from anodized aluminum. The blue hue of the drop along with the beautiful knurled control knob fitted with a rubber grip signals This is no ordinary Lathe. The bed is made from steel which allows the cast iron headstock to travel incredibly smoothly. Steel is the preferred material due to its well known longevity & strength. Electronic variable speed is obtained via a VFD that converts 1 Phase input to 3 Phase output, so even at low settings you will get an incredible amount of torque. The drop gives you an accurate RPM readout at all times any fine adjustments are made electronically. Changing from high to low settings is made easy by using the quick release handle. The headstock & Tailstock Lock handles are situated on the back to eliminate any interruptions to your work flow. Ergonomically designed handles use a CAM lock resulting in a firm feel with no deflection.

  • Great Laguna Lathe! Terrible Pilot Freight Delivery Service!
The lathe is exactly what I expected from Laguna and Amazon, however, the delivery service (Pilot Freight),that Amazon or Laguna contracts with is the worst I ever seen. Normal delivery setup for Wed 10/14 Product in Pilot terminal on Thu 10/08 Contact Pilot and setup delivery for Fri 10/09 Fri 10/09 wait all day and no delivery. Try contacting Pilot all day and no answer and forced to leave phone for call back. Never got a call back and never could get a phone call answered all weekend (advertise 24/7 customer service), so I left a written message on their website. Mon 10/12 received email response to letter (blah, blah, blah...), and the rescheduled delivery for Tue 10/13 between 10 & 2 without asking if this change is okay with me. I had to rearrange my day to ensure I would be home. Tue 10/13 Deliver was scheduled between 10 & 2 with a call 30 minutes before. Time 2:27 pm, almost 1/2 hour after latest schedule delivery time and was told it will be around 5 pm. At 5:30 pm the truck shows up and delivers the package. ... show more

  • Loving it!
So far I'm very pleased with my lathe. Wasn't so happy with the delivery as the crate was upside down on the pallet. No way I could turn it over by myself. Luckily nothing was damaged but it made getting it out of the box much harder. Once I got it out of the box and got one of my Grandsons to help me, it went together very easy, but it does take some help with a strong back. I've turned a number of things so far and I'm not finding any problems. The Laguna Revo 18/36 is a very heavy and sturdy machine that is whisper quite while running. The banjo and tail stock are supper easy to move and adjust then lock down securely when ready to work. I'm very impressed with the craftsmanship with the machine and looking forward to many years of happy turning with it. ... show more

  • Best new addition to my wood working shop.
We make custom bowls and cutting boards in our shop. My harbor freight lathe was great while I was learning to turn bowls. But as we sold bowls at our local Farmers market people started asking for bigger bowls. So we did our research and decided to pull the trigger on the Revo 18/36. Best decision we could of made. It's a dream turning the lathe on a cutting a 14 plus inch bowl. Assembly time was about 30 minutes once I got my hoist set up in my shop. And 30 minutes to run a 220 plug. Well worth the 2500 plus tax. ... show more

  • Loves it!!!
My husband absolutely loves his new Lathe! He has been using it almost every day since it arrived and is enjoying every minute of it. I think the part that neither of us liked was trying to get it out of the box and put together. Not only was the head stock and the tail stock on the center bars in the box, it was in a plastic bag and stuck in Styrofoam and it weighs a near ton. We got it though, just the two of us and got it put together in one evening. ... show more

  • Simply Amazing
I had a Delta Lathe for 35 years and it served me well. I didn't understand what it was like to turn wood until I bought this machine. I wasn't sure how the variable speed would work, but the wood and lathe tell you by the vibration where you need to be. I was shocked by how smooth and quite the lathe runs. It's a beast, it took two of us to assemble it. I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Relay switch problem
The only weak spot in my 18/36 Laguna Revo has to do with the switching relay. I have had to replace it two times in 5 years. Customer service was difficult to get in touch with and took several days to not call me back. Technician couldn't help with diagnosis so I ordered a switch that I didn't need. Shipping took a week for each part. In all- I was without my main tool for over 2 weeks. Very frustrating!! ... show more

  • blew up just plugging it in.
Put lathe together, plugged in and a pop sound and smoke boiled from the Delta power converter. Did not even turn the power on. Called Laguna. They sent me a new head stock a week later. Laguna is not very good at communicating with the shipping company, ABF freight. That is a whole other story.... Now the new head stock came with a broken switch plate and has a wobble. Deciding on returning or waiting another week for another new head stock. The Technician at Laguna said that this was not the first complaint. Very frustrating ! ... show more
